She's Got Flare

Happy Monday lovebugs,
I thought we would ease into the week with some casual looks with denim. As I've mentioned earlier, the 70s are a big deal this fall. Part of this trend is long leg flared denim. It creates a dynamite silhouette and you can find a pair that fits any budget.

Gap makes a really solid jean and I love this simple yet sleek look.

A lighter wash and a higher wash, very 70s. Also love her sweater.

I love a dark wash with no fading or whispering. They create a long line and are easily dressed up or down.

The name says it all. These jeans were made for the 70s and they are oh so fab with long sleeve floral, drapey sweater, or simple tee.

Flared denim is not your middle school bell bottom. It is tailored, fitted, and ready for some heels. Preferably chunky or stacked heel for maximum impact.

Anything but Quiet

Happy Monday lovebugs,
Let's kick off this week with a bang. I want to wake up this week with prints. Quirky, interesting, and unexpected prints. We are going beyond stripes and dots, I want to pull from the 70s style and artistic prints. Let's grab some attention with pieces you already wear daily.

Dorothy Perkins, Camel Geo Print Blouse, $44
Something a bit more retro but is completely easy to pair with pants, skirts, and the items in your closet.

When I think quirky prints, I think Modcloth and this dress does not disappoint!

These pants are going to be in rotation all year round. Picture it with a chunky oversized knit for now or a trapeze blouse for summer.

So chic and breezy. I love this for work with a pencil skirt or wide leg slacks.

Prints are always eye catching but take them to the next level with 70s inspired, tribal, or more mod and you have a completely different look.

You Can Ring My Bell

It's hump day, you know what else looks like a hump? A bell. Stay with me. It's bell sleeve hump day. See what I did there? No? Ok, great. Bell sleeves for everyone. Let's look.

Simple but very Michelle Obama. Perfect for work or dress it up with jewels for a holiday party.

The 70s are back this fall and this blouse is perfectly on trend.

Amazing texture aside, I love the faux wrap silhouette of this sweater.

Hello fall sweater dress. Pair with tights, leggings, boots, anything.

A simple bell sleeve really changes the style of an outfit. It's breezy, it's 70s, it's quite gorgeous.

Far Out Chic

The 70s boho trend is back as expected with the resurgence of festival season and summertime outdoor activities. What I love about this decade of fashion is the patterns. Big, bold, beautiful, and funky designs that are way beyond your standard stripe or dot.

Off the shoulder is back and it looks great with this easy, breezy dress.

Bloomingdale's, NYDJ Scarf Print Blouse, $98
Is this blouse pricey? Yes. But think of the versatility. This looks great with cropped olive pants, tucked into a black pencil skirt, under a suit jacket, or with cutoff shorts. It's your do it all laid back blouse.

We are not short on color with this maxi skirt. I also love the tassel waist detail.

Blousy sleeves, high neck, great pattern, this is boho glam.

Usually I go preppy with polka dots and stripes when I think pattern. This 70s boho trend is a great way to mix up my closet with unexpected and colorful patterns.

How Original

Florals for spring, how original. But hang on, florals have changed. They've been upgraded. Florals are not just Easter Sunday or pretty cupcake prints anymore, oh no. They're oversized, unexpected colors, and nothing you'd expect. Today we're taking on florals in work-ready pencil skirts.

See what I told you? Didn't see this one coming. So crisp and fresh for spring.

A little That 70s Show but pair it with a silk bow blouse and you're ready for 9-5.

This skirt is going to hug your hips and slim your waist.

Can't beat the price! This is something out of an adult coloring book and I love it.

Don't pass on floral this spring. I promise you can find something that is going to work with tops that are already in your closet. Play with stripes or dots on top to really add a punch.

Howdy Bootie

Last week we looked at some boots with buckles, sticking with the boot topic, let's go western. A little cowboy infused into our boot game. Something with sass, personality, and potential to jump on a horse at a moments notice (hey a girl can dream).

Real leather, which means these babies are just going to get softer every time you wear them.

American Eagle, Side Zip Western Bootie, $59
Here's a sturdy, yet fashionable boot that is going to work with jeans or cords.

I love an olive shoe because they are so versatile.

Casual western with a 70s flair. Amazing.

It's bootie season so why not grab something that has some spunk? Try a western feel and mix it with a cable knit or moto jacket.

Turn the Kaleidoscope

Happy Monday lovebugs,
Let's talk prints. Not your standard stripe, polka dot, or even gingham. Let's think out of the box and look at the kaleidoscope print. It's eye catching, colorful and perfect for summer. I love the repetition of shapes in this print and you can have fun with neon or make it work for work.

Modcloth, Diamond-ay Morning Dress, $69 $41
Pops of color, cutouts, and a simple cinched waist makes this dress ready for sangria on a roof.

You really cannot beat the price here and the back of this tank is about as fun as the print.

Oh I love this piece. This is not what everyone else has in their closet and it's a stunner. A little 70s, a little bohemian, a lot summer nights.

Again, this price people. Just awesome. I love a tie neck blouse for work and this print is quite unusual. If you love Eva, she's also made a great kaleidoscope pant.

The kaleidoscope print is certainly a standout look. It's geometric without being too mod and you can find colors that fit what's already in your closet.

Wrapped in Style

Happy hump day, it's a great day because we're talking wrap dresses. The ultimate throw on and go outfit that is great for fall weather. I love a great print for this style of dress. This season the 70s are back and bold prints and open necklines are perfect for a wrap dress.

Last Call Neiman Marcus, Laundry by Shelli Segal Honeycomb Wrap Dress, $89
Check out this oversized collar, it is stunning.

Lord and Taylor, Adrianna Papell Printed Wrap Dress, $90
These billowy sleeves are super feminine. A great sized print makes this easy for any occasion.

I can't tell you how often you're going to pull out this dress. It's absolutely stunning in this deep navy. Dress is up or down with shoes and jewelry.

A pop of red is lovely for fall. You can add on a blazer if needed or just enjoy it on its own.

A great wrap dress works for any silhouette and most are machine washable. A great option to go from desk to drinks.

Baby it's Cold Inside

Hey there!
While I'm at day two of the conference I thought I would let you know that I can't feel my toes. Yep. That is because meeting hotels keep the AC so low that every woman and probably some thin men shiver through every session, class, and lunch. Now it's still highs in the 70s here in DC so I'm not going to schlep my fleece around with me all day long. Instead I opted for a scarf. Colorful, portable, and fashionable. Here are some options for you:

Nordstrom, Refined Stripe Wrap, $48

I love this rich jewel tone wrap; it can be worn casually or with a black dress

Macy's, Charter Club Reversible Wrap, $21.99

This is a great size wrap, you can put it around your shoulders when you get the seat that's directly underneath the AC vent.

Target, Orange Printed Leaf Scarf, $22.99

I love this light scarf for fall because you can wear it with a suit or pair it with a jean jacket on the weekends.

Luxury Diva Corp., White and Black Giraffe Print, $27.99
I find this print very subtle actually because of the size of the pattern. It's not too busy. Very professional.

She's Got Flare

Let's talk denim. You've got your skinny, bf, distressed, jegging, but today we are throwing it back. Flared. Stay with me. You remember your bell bottoms and how long your legs looked. Well it's back and it's grown up. Flared jeans come in any wash and so many styles. Let's take a look.

Clean lines and the wash is "perfect navy" and it is.

Hello lovely price! I love a great Loft jean. They last forever.

This high waist jean is lengthening your leg and nipping in at the tiniest part of your waist.

French Connection, Belle Bottom Flared Jeans, $99
Laid back and ready to party.

Bring back your flares. It's time to dress up your jeans and put on your heels. Your skinny jeans need a break.

Weekend Trip

Hey kids! Happy Thursday, although it is my Friday. Sorry, I don't mean to rub it in. But what I WILL rub in is that fact that I will be enjoying Arby's beef 'n cheddar for dinner tonight. YUM. Why? Well because the BF and I are traveling to his hometown in Connecticut via BWI this evening. Which begs the question: what to wear when spending a weekend with the BFs rents and not look like you're trying too hard.

Ok maybe that wasn't your first question, but it was mine. So here's a sampling of what I'm packing; keep in mind this is a jeans weekend so I'm only packing tops/sweaters (highs in the 70s!)

Also- send me your Friday Foodday submissions today! You know I won't leave you foodless for the weekend- I'll post tomorrow.

J Crew, Merino Whisper Ruffle Sweater, $49.50
I'd pair this with my sterling silver Tiffany's necklace and this belt:

J Crew, Glimmer Sash, $19.50

Gap, Cozy Rib Hoodie, $34.99
This sweatshirt for after dinner or early morning appearences.

Gap, Shawl Cardigan, $39.99
I love this, its kinda dressy but super comfy. And you can layer with a shirt like this:

Old Navy, Striped boat neck tee, $14.50

Nordstrom, Kische open front cardi, $25.90
I'm kind of obsessed with traveling with these sweaters. There are SO easy and bright; plus you can knot it, belt it, or leave it open. Perfect for a quick weekend trip.
