Let's talk lace up. We've seen it in flats and they are plentiful this season, but what about tops. Of course you can go overly sexy with this trend but, that's not why you're reading this blog. So let's do lace up for daytime.

All In: I Love October

Happy October lovebugs! It's the first Monday of the month which means we're building an entire outfit for under $100. Let's go All In with a casual weekend look that is so easy. Grab brunch with the girls, go to a winery, but whatever you do, plan to be comfortable and chic.

Happy Friday lovebugs!
Here are my favorite recipes this week.

Chipotle Cherry Bourbon Smash

Ingredients

1.5 oz Bourbon (Wild Turkey Russell’s Reserve 10 Year Old Bourbon works well with this)
5-6 cocktail cherries (Mess Hall Cocktail Co)
1/4 oz lemon juice
2 dashes Tabasco Chipotle Sauce
Seltzer

Directions

Muddle cherries, lemon juice and Tabasco in a rocks glass. Add bourbon and ice. Top with seltzer and give a stir. Garnish with cocktail cherry.

Grilled Cheese Burger

Ingredients

• 1 lbs ground beef
• salt and pepper
• 1/2 cup mushrooms, sliced
• 1 small onion, sliced 
• 8 slices Monterrey jack cheese, cheddar cheesy, colby cheese or other favorite cheese
• 4 slices tomato
• 8 slices bacon, cooked 
• 8 slices hearty bread
• 4 tbs butter butter

Directions

1. Form the ground beef into wide flat thin patties. Season with salt and pepper and set aside. 
2. If using, preheat a large skillet. 
3. In a large skillet over medium heat, saute the onions and peppers with a pinch of salt, over medium heat until soft, about 5 to 7 minutes. Remove from pan, set aside.
4. Salt the patties. Swirl 1 tbs butter in the pan to coat. Add the patties and cook 3 to 5 minutes, flipping once halfway through cook time. Remove from pan. 
5. If using the skillet, wipe down. 
6. Butter the outside of each slice of bread. Lay a slice of cheese on each piece of bread. Add a patty, top with onion and pepper mix, a slice of tomato, 2 slices of bacon, and another slice of cheese. Add the top piece of bread, butter side out. 
7. Place sandwiches on pre-heated griddle or hot skillet. Cook until golden brown and cheese is melted through, flipping once as needed to brown both sides.

Apple Crisp Pizza

Ingredients

• 4 medium apples, peeled and cut into 1/4 inch pieces
• 1 tablespoon lemon juice (1/2 a lemon)
• 2 tablespoons sugar
• 1 tablespoon flour
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• 1 pie crust
• 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
• 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
• 3/4 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1/3 cup butter, melted

Directions

1. Toss the apples in the lemon juice.
2. Mix the sugar, flour and cinnamon in a large bowl and toss with apples.
3. Roll the pie crust out to a 12 inch circle and fold a bit of the edge under so that there is a raised outer circle.
4. Place the apple mixture onto the pie crust in a single layer.
5. Mix the flour, sugar, oats, cinnamon and butter in a large bowl until it forms crumbs and sprinkle them over the apples.
6. Bake in a preheated 350F/180C oven until the top is golden brown and the apples are tender, about 30-40 minutes.
7. Serve warm topped with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream.

Falling for Plaid

It may be a bit early to talk plaid but when you mix it with a lighter fabric, you're good. That's why we're looking at silk plaid. It's got the masculine print mixed with the ladylike medium of silk.

Yes plaid is traditionally a winter print, but this isn't wool plaid or fleece plaid, this is silk plaid and it's made for fall. Still not convinced? Lighten it up with some baubles or a jean jacket.
