Do a Doubletake

Let's talk about details. A simple top is taken to the next level with embroidery or a tassel embellishment. Today we're looking at a detail that is so simple and quiet, you may not even notice it until you turn around. Do a double take because these tulip back tops are perfect for summer.

Forever 21, Tulip Back Top, $14
This fuchsia is one of my favorite colors for summer. It's going to be perfect with any statement necklace. Tortoise, mint green, neon yellow, pair away because everything is going to pop with this top.

Zappos, KAVU Bernice Blouse, $45
I love this ikat print in a bright evergreen. Even work appropriate because of the length.

Who doesn't love scallops? I'm loving this tank for the 100 degree summer days in our future.

Old Navy, Women's Tulip Back Tank, $16
How breezy and casual is this tank from Old Navy? Great price, great look.

The tulip hem is a great detail for simple pieces that you can add your own flair to. The tulip back is such an easy twist on this trend. Great for summer weather.

Friday Foodday

Happy Friday!

Here are my favorite recipes this week.

Raspberry Lime Rickey Slushies
Ingredients
2 1/2 cups ice cubes
1 1/2 cups sparkling water
1/2 cup gin (such as Bluecoat American Dry Gin)
6 tablespoons sugar
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
8 ounces fresh raspberries, frozen
Lime wedges (optional)

Directions
1. Combine first 6 ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth. Serve slushies with lime wedges, if desired.

Greek Hot Dog
Ingredients
  • 4 Hot Dog Buns
  • 4 All Beef Hot Dogs
  • 1/2 cup Crumbled Feta Cheese
  • 1 cup Cherry Tomatoes, halved
  • 1/2 cup Cucumber, diced
  • 1/3 cup Kalamata Olives, diced
  • 1 cup Table for Two's Tzatziki Sauce
  • Lemon for garnish and squeezing
Directions
Preheat grill. Cook hot dogs according to package directions, until 160 degrees inside.
While the hot dogs are cooking, prepare cucumber, tomatoes and olives.
In a small bowl, combine all the ingredients for the Tzatziki sauce - greek yogurt, dill, cucumber, garlic, salt and pepper. Stir to combine.
To assemble the hot dogs, toast the buns, and slather each bun with Tzatziki sauce. Top with a hot dog, then with tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, and crumbled feta. And a little spritz of lemon if you need.
Serve immediately.

Double Chocolate Cookie Bars with Ice Cream
Ingredients
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup mini semi sweet chocolate chips
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone baking mat and set aside.
In large bowl, cream butter and sugar. Stir in egg and vanilla. Scrape sides and whip until light and fluffy. Stir in all dry ingredients until just incorporated. Scrape sides and mix again briefly. Stir chocolate chips into dough. Spread a thin layer onto prepared baking sheets and bake approximately 12 minutes. Cool cookie bars completely before slicing. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
Serve with ice cream...and chocolate sauce for good measure.

Too Tough to Tassle

It's time for some accessories. Big accessories that make a statement. Today let's look at some big ol' tassel earrings. They're loud, bright, and so classic when paired with an LBD.

Get Off the Shoulder

Ok lovebugs, I have a confession to make. I don't love the off the shoulder trend. I have no great reason other than, it just doesn't do it for me. That being said, when the weather gets hot. Not just sweating on your way to work hot, but holy crap do I have to leave the house hot, these light, sometimes skimpy, tops are perfect. So let's look at some off the shoulder tops.

See what I mean? Think of all the ways you could style this top. Printed soft pants, a sequin mini, jeans, a slim midi skirt, the list goes on. The swing pleats offer just enough movement.

This top is the definition of flounce. Easy, feminine, and fun.

This top is very super model to me. So effortless and so beautiful.

You can't beat the price on this top. I love that its a dark navy instead of a harsher black stripe.

Off the shoulder trend can be overly hippie or overly sexy, but you can also find styles that work with the rest of your closet. Look for patterns that you already love or pair a statement necklace with a solid option.
