Beautiful Brogue

Let's talk footwear inspired by men. Brogues to be exact. The Brogue shoe has some history: it is a style of low-heeled shoe or boot traditionally characterised by multiple-piece, sturdy leather uppers with decorative perforations (or "broguing") and serration along the pieces' visible edges. [Source]

I love these shoes because they're functional, masculine, and preppy. Let's look at some options.

I love this red option. It's what Dorothy would have worn on a day-today basis. Pair these with bf jeans in the summer and black ponte leggings now.

These bad boys are half off and I am dying to pair them with an LBD now and a floral sundress later.

I really like these with a pair of ankle pants. They are quite tailored.

And for something a bit different but still on major sale, these no lace beauties.

I really like the brogue trend because it injects some masculinity into your look but you can play off it and wear a big bow top or a very feminine necklace to balance it out.

Be fabulous today!

Gift Guide: Last Minute For Him

Are we tired of gift guides? Yeah? Well, I'm sorry, but I'm putting this one out for all of the girls who have one dude left on their list. Their dad/brother/uncle/bf/brother-in-law/etc, let's go ahead and try to save the day.

Fringe Benefits

Happy Monday lovebugs,
I thought we would spice things up on this wintery Monday and look at some sassy skirts. These skirts are not meant for your 9-5, your dinner with gramma, or Sunday church. These skirts are meant for dancing, for dates, and for daring evenings out. Today, we look at fringe tiered skirts. Why? Because these minis have movement and flare and they are perfect for perking up your Monday.

Forever 21, Tiered Fringe Mini Skirt, $19
Three layers or fringe makes this skirt perfect for the dance floor.

Nordstrom, Vince Camuto Fringe Pencil Tiered Skirt, $96
Zigzag fringe? Don't mind if I do Vince!

Last Call Neiman Marcus, Max Studio Tiered Faux Leather Skirt, $59
All over mini fringe on a mini skirt, this is a party.

Singer22, WYLDR Keep It Together Mini Skirt, $58
The price point on this mini is so easy on the wallet. I love the almost confetti-like look.

You can buy a sparkly holiday dress, or a velvet mini for the company party, but these options will work for a night out any day of the year.

Be fabulous today!

Friday Foodday

Happy Friday lovebugs,
Here are my favorite recipes this week.

Harriet's Highball
c/o Five O'Clock Cocktails
Ingredients
1 1/4 ounces vodka
1/2 ounce Campari
About 2 to 3 ounces orange juice

Directions
Combine all 3 ingredients in an ice-filled cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously for about 20 seconds. Strain into a martini glass, a cocktail coupe, or an ice-filled highball.

Totchos
Ingredients
1/2 cup cooked leftover taco meat (shredded chicken or pork would be great too!)
grated cheese
guacamole
sour cream
pickled jalapenos
diced tomatoes
cilantro
Cholulua, or your favorite hot sauce

Directions
Bake the tots according to package directions. When the tots have five minutes remaining, remove from the oven and sprinkle on the meat and cheese. Return to the oven to finish cooking.
Remove from the oven and load up your toppings.

Peppermint Puppy Chow
Ingredients
  • 16oz Vanilla candy coating (candiquik)
  • 1 cup Andes Peppermint Crunch Baking Chips
  • 12 cup Chex cereal (I use a combination of the rice and the corn flavors)
  • 2 cup powdered sugar
  • 6 regular sized Peppermint Candy Canes, crushed
Directions
  1. Place vanilla candy coating and peppermint crunch baking chips in a large microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 30 second intervals, mixing between each interval. Mine took 2 minutes total. Stir until smooth.
  2. Place cereal in a very large bowl. Pour melted chocolate over cereal. Add about 3/4 of the crushed candy canes. Mix until all the cereal is covered in chocolate. Add powdered sugar and stir until fully coated. Sprinkle with remaining peppermint candy canes. Store in an airtight container for up to one week. Enjoy!
