Friday Foodday

Woohoo!!! Friday lovebugs! Here are my recipes from the week!

Cookies & Creme Rice Krispies
c/o Table for Two
Ingredients

1 bag of large marshmallows
5 cups rice cereal
3 tbsp. unsalted butter
16-18 Oreos, crushed
Directions

  • Grease a 8×8″ pan and set aside.
  • In a large ziploc bag, place the Oreos in, seal the bag, and with a rolling pin, crush the Oreos until they’re smaller pieces. Set aside.
  • In a large pot, melt 3 tbsp. butter. Once butter has melted, add in the bag of marshmallows and stir until all the marshmallows have melted then remove from heat. Gently fold in the rice cereal then fold in the Oreo’s.
  • Pour all the contents into the prepared pan and spread out evenly. To make this faster/easier, I usually spray my hands with some cooking spray and use my hands to press down on the mixture until it’s evenly spread out.
  • Let cool completely before cutting into squares.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

  • Strawberry Shortbread
    c/o Cupcakes for Breakfast
    Ingredients

    • 1 cup sugar
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 3 cups flour
    • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
    • 1/8 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1 cup (2 sticks) semi-softened unsalted butter
    • 1 egg
    • Raspberry jam
    • 1 carton/quart of strawberries, sliced in half

    • Directions
      1. Preheat oven to 375° and spray an 8″x8″ pan with non-stick spray.
      2. In a large bowl combine sugar, baking powder, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. (I use my stand mixer with the dough hook attachment, which I keep in the freezer. Although you could definitely mix the shortbread with your hands.)
      3. Add the butter and egg into the mixture and combine to create a crumbly mix.
      4. Press 3/4 of crumbs into the bottom of the pan. Spread a thin layer of raspberry jam over the crumbs. Tile strawberries over the jam. Finish by sprinkling the remaining 1/4 of the crumbs on top.
      5. Bake for 35 minutes. Let cool before slicing into bars.

    To the Max

I'm sure from today's title you know we're looking at some maxis. But not a maxi dress that is so popular these days, I'm looking at maxi skirts- so you can add your own flair with a top!

Vince Camuto, Maxi Skirt Pink, $79
White tank, big bauble necklace and walk out the door. Done.

A little more casual, perfect for brunch with the girls.

    Loft, Knit maxi skirt, $59
I really love the color of this skirt, I would pair it with a navy silk blouse and tie the bottom of the shirt.

And for a night out just wear this.

So thoughts on this vs a maxi dress? I think it adds some versatility to the piece and some of your own style.

    Put Me on a Pedestal

Hey lovebugs! Happy humpday! We're getting there! And to make your Wednesday a little bit easier, let's  take it higher! I'm talking platform sandals. Why? Because there are so many hooker looking platform sandals out there but fear not, I've done some research for you.

I really like the mixture of textures here. Its almost got an architectural feel to it.

A little cork perhaps? These casual heels will add drama to any outfit.

    Macy's, Calvin Klein Bea, $89
While I don't love the big buckle, the t-strap makes up for it. And that heel is pretty amazing.

    Nine West, Shown tell, $79
I had to throw in a platform wedge for good measure. Loving this mint!

While I prefer to be in my flats all of the time, I do feel extra fabulous when I put on a great heeled sandal.

    Fly High in the Sky

Trapeze tops are a great style for summer because they are usually light and easy to dress up or down for an evening out or a blazer on top for work. Check out some of these great tops.

Great colors and its got great thick straps for us girls who can't wear strapless bras.

Forever 21, Racerback trapeze tank, $22
Great color blocking and very chic for a Saturday with a pair of shorts and heels.

Look at the neckline, so flattering. The sheer adds a little something unexpected with this pattern as well.

    Modcloth, Apricot Breeze Top, $39
I can't find enough things to say about this top. It combines a bold color, lace, and has a great fluttering away shape to fit any style.

So are you going to try these high flying tops? I think they are a great alternative to a plain tank or tee this summer.
