Friday Foodday

We made it lovebugs! Do you have big plans for this weekend? My mom and dad are in town and I couldn't be happier to see them!

Chipotle Alfredo Sauce
Ingredients
1 tbsp butter
1/2 cup milk
4 ounces cream cheese
1/3 cup pecorino romano cheese
1/2-1 tbsp. chipotle puree
8 ounces fettuccine or linguine

 Directions

1- Cook pasta according to packaging directions.
2- Meanwhile, in a small sauce pot combine the butter, milk, and cream cheese. Heat until the cream cheese is melted and smooth. Stir in the cheese and chipotle puree.
3- Pour over the hot pasta, tossing well to evenly coat. Serve hot.

Buffalo Chicken Nachos
Ingredients
8 cups Cool Ranch Doritos
4 cups cooked shredded chicken
1 1/2 cups Frank's Buffalo Wing sauce
1/2 cup water
3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Chopped celery
Sour cream
Ranch dressing

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 475 degrees. Spread tortilla chips on a rimmed baking sheet or in a shallow dish.

2. Bring wing sauce and water to a simmer. Add shredded cooked chicken; heat through. Strain the chicken (reserving the sauce) and spread over ranch-flavored tortilla chips. Top with shredded cheddar.

3. Bake in the upper third portion of the oven until cheese is melted for about 5 to 7 minutes. After nachos are baked, top with chopped celery and the reserved wing sauce.

In Between Weather Coat

So it's not quite freezing but it's not no jacket weather either.  What's a girl to wear in this in between weather? Trench coats are always an easy go to but let's try something a little out of the box.

How luxurious is this jacket? I'm obsessed with the color, texture and collar.

J Crew Factory, Gilded tweed jacket, $88
This is very First Lady don't you think? I would even add a patent leather belt to this.

Newport News, Zip front leather jacket, $99
That's right, under $100. Great darting through the torso, makes this jacket ready for Fall.

Banana Republic, Lace trim jacket, $79
I love this jacket. It's ladylike, it's cozy, and it has gorgeous detailing.

So what do you wear for this in between weather? Vests are big this season, any other ideas?

Be fabulous today!

Faux Fur Vests

Hey lovebugs, have you jumped on the faux fur vest train yet? I can't say I have, but I'm warming up to the trend more and more. Here are my fave picks for this style.

I like the length of this vest, it doesn't make your legs look shorter.  The color is very versatile.

Now this I love. The sherpa is so different from the fur trend.

Arden B, Faux Fox Fur Vest, $44
This is a nice starter vest. It's not too bulky but it definitely makes a statement.

Piperlime, Eight Sixty Faux Fur Vest, $27
Talk about a steal! And I love the zipper on this vest, makes it easy to bundle up!

I don't know if I will get on the faux fur train this winter; how do you style yours?

Be fabulous today!

Sporty Spice

I know what you’re thinking…Kelsey would never write a post about dressing up “non-preppy.” Surprise! It’s not Kelsey! I’m Sara, Kelsey’s little sister. While my sister and I are best friends, we have almost nothing in common besides our love of dogs and food (It’s good to be a Heinze). When Kels asked me to do a guest post, I was a little hesitant because fashion is DEFINITELY not my thing. I have no shame in saying most of my clothes Kelsey picked out or I got for Christmas. Being the athlete of the family, I never got into the preppy look but I do have my own style. This post is for all of you who can’t pull off the polka dotty-pulitz-a-tucket look.

Anyone who knows me knows I rarely leave that house without my cowboy boots on. They’re a winter essential and a great investment. Wear them everywhere to break them in.

Right now I’m really into baggy blouses and tops. The way they fall makes your outfit look effortless and they are very forgiving if you’re not feeling great about yourself. Get one that falls off the shoulder for an easy look for a night out.
Nordstrom, Lush Oversized Boxy Tee, $26

And for those of you who’re really adventurous, a pair of dunks is a solid and original contribution to any outfit.  Be confident and strut your street cred with these!
Nike, Women's Dunks, $84

Hope you enjoyed my guest post, and keep reading my sister’s blog! She’s basically awesome.
