Purple Spirit Day

Today is Spirit Day. It's a day to recognize the need to stop bullying. That's why a lot of your friends and followers' pictures are purple! Yes I turned my pic purple, and I supported Spirit Day by wearing purple today; but I'm not going to make this a preachy post. You can get that on the 16,048 websites talking about it today. The good news is, purple is also my favorite color!!! So today's post in honor of Spirit Day will be some of my favorite purple items!

Also- don't forget to send in your Friday Foodday recipes!

Modcloth, Belle of the Ball, $49.99
There are no words to describe the classic sophistication of this high waisted skirt. I absolutely love the jewel tone and the pleating.

While some of you may already love Jess' blog (and my amazing guest posts there), I also love her jewelery. My favorite one from this collection though is the Diversey Single Paisley bracelet

Poster Pop, Martini Time, $15

Enzo Angiolini, Maylie, $59

Old Navy, Suede belt, $16.50
Purple suede? Hello luxurious at an affordable price!

Baby it's Cold Inside

Hey there!
While I'm at day two of the conference I thought I would let you know that I can't feel my toes. Yep. That is because meeting hotels keep the AC so low that every woman and probably some thin men shiver through every session, class, and lunch. Now it's still highs in the 70s here in DC so I'm not going to schlep my fleece around with me all day long. Instead I opted for a scarf. Colorful, portable, and fashionable. Here are some options for you:

Nordstrom, Refined Stripe Wrap, $48

I love this rich jewel tone wrap; it can be worn casually or with a black dress

Macy's, Charter Club Reversible Wrap, $21.99

This is a great size wrap, you can put it around your shoulders when you get the seat that's directly underneath the AC vent.

Target, Orange Printed Leaf Scarf, $22.99

I love this light scarf for fall because you can wear it with a suit or pair it with a jean jacket on the weekends.

Luxury Diva Corp., White and Black Giraffe Print, $27.99
I find this print very subtle actually because of the size of the pattern. It's not too busy. Very professional.

The Meeting Shoe

Hey lovebugs! Sorry for the late post today, I was at a PR conference all day and the hotel had ZERO service. Major bummer. Anyway, if you have a second- check out my guest blog over at Spend Less Save More!

Today we're going to talk about appropriate shoes to wear to a business conference. Usually these meetings involve a fair amount of walking, unpredicted amounts of time standing, and obviously the chance to impress and network. Well let me tell you some of the choices I saw today...I had to wonder 'you really looked in the mirror this morning and thought- damn I look good?' Wow. Ok then, lets see some better options:

Steve Madden, Kinnetic Flat, $59.95

I love this take on a black flat because it's got a sturdy heel and obvi the shimmer effect. Perfect surprise with a black suit!

Nine West, Oaks, $79

Kitten heel is a great option if you want to wear a heel. It's practical and appropriate.

Urban Outfitters, Kimichi, $48

I love these sweet little navy heels. They are supportive and perfect for fall.

*** Point of clarification!!!! Just because it's a black pump does NOT mean it is work appropriate. I do not want to see any TCBer (The Capital Barbie, yeah I'm an acronym now deal with it) wearing anything remotely looking like this:
