Hat Head

It's still cold, let's continue the outerwear theme and look at some great winter hats. I'm glad to see that hats have surpassed earmuffs this season because there are more styles to choose from and frankly, they're warmer!

Simple chunky knit for under $20. Can't argue with that!

Anthropologie, Pommed Floppy Hat, $78
Sometimes chic isn't always utilitarian. Not the case with this hat. It's 100% wool so it's warm and so stylish.

Modcloth, Tender Embers Hat, $34
Take the summer panama hat and give it a winter twist!

Here's a simple, go with anything hat. Any color coat will work with this black and white beanie.

I love a good hat. You can really show your personality without breaking the bank. Beanie, floppy, panama, ski, you name it and then pick your color and pattern.

Pretty in Plaid

Yesterday we played with some quirky prints. Today let's keep it going but with a print that's a bit more mid-winter: plaid, more specifically tweed plaid. I'm talking heavy material with a classic but versatile print. These pieces look expensive and will keep you cozy.

Banana Republic, Lace Trim Tweed Top, $82
How brilliant is this? Plaid, tweed, wool, and lace.

Old Navy, Plaid Wool Blend Bomber Jacket, $29
This was originally $64. Such a steal right now. I love the athletic rib knit cuffs.

Boden, Heritage Check Coatigan, $99
Oh yes they did: a coat, a cardigan, its a coatigan. Also available in a beautiful navy and red.

Yes you read that correctly...$39. Run. I mean look at that pocket piping detail! Under $40.

Plaid is nothing new for winter, that's why I look for unexpected colors and fabrics. Tweed, wool, pink, you name it, try something eye catching. Feeling extra bold? Pair it with a striped button down with similar colors.

It's So Fluffy!

Let's talk texture. Sweater texture and material is critical for maximum comfiness but it also offers a third dimension to your outfit. Texture can create pattern or additional 'touch ability' to your top. You know what I mean. Similar to my all time favorite gif.

Asos, Bellfield Fluffy Sweater, $56 $39
This sweater reminds me of a light dusting of snow and it looks so cozy.

A blend of alpaca and merino means Lou and Grey is taking really good card of your comfort.

JCrew, Mohair Fuzzy Stripe Sweater, $98 $80
A preppy stripe option with a great ribbed neckline.

Anthropologie, Irina Pullover, $98
Oh this fine gauge sweater is so luxe. I also love the chiffon detailing, so unexpected.

So if you're looking for cozy, you don't always need to look for cashmere. Try mohair, alpaca, and a fine gauge knit.
