When Corked Is A Good Thing

I've put away my sweaters, and brought out my sundresses, but now my bags are looking tired. Warm weather bags are all about color and spring textures. One of those materials that scream spring and summer to me is cork.

I love a statement box clutch because, it's well, clutch. This one is stunning.

Zoom in on this bag, it's got beautiful gold vertical stripe.

White House Black Market, Cork Clutch, $44
Wristlet with a modern look. Simple, clean.

Macy's, Evie Clutch, $67
This bag is going to be your go to for every sundress in your closet.

So spice up your accessory game and try some cork, and then pop some cork because you got a great deal.

Almost there lovebugs, Friday eve. Let's continue our week of details and check out some beautiful bell sleeve blouses.

Great print mix, and a simple no collar look.

This top is a great base. Pair it with jeans, a pencil skirt, pearls, or tassel earrings.

Nordstrom, Soprano Bell Sleeve Top, $45
Great price for a solid spring top that goes with everything. Also comes in a crisp white.

Stay within the Lines

Hey there lovebugs,
I hope you had a wonderful weekend. It was a muggy one in DC but I will take the sun where I can get it! Today I thought we would look at a colorful trend that is great for creating long lines and supermodel heights. Vertical stripes. They're statement-worthy and stunning when worn as the base of your outfit.

Forever 21, Striped Maxi Skirt, $22
Imagine strutting down the sidewalk with a good breeze. This skirt and it's high side slit is going to show off just how fabulous you are.

Such a beautiful pant for work. I'd add ruffle button down in a crisp white.

This is a Carrie Bradshaw dress. Casual and effortless.

White House Black Market, Soft Striped Blouse, $36
A peasant-style blouse that is perfect for a warm summer day.

Don't fear the vertical stripe, embrace it's wow factor with thicker lines, multicolors, and playful structure!

Crack A Window

Sometimes a great print is all you to take your outfit to the next level. I love a great windowpane print because it's monochrome, simple and awesome. Geometric, mod, and modern it just works.

Bloomingdale's, AQUA Window Pane Swing Dress, $88
I'm starting with my favorite. I love the combination of the large print and the swing dress style.

White House Black Market, Sleeveless Windowpane Blouson Dress, $69
A relaxed fit on its own or add on with a metallic belt, denim jacket, or a colored sandal.

Wear this now with a long tassel necklace, and later with black booties and a denim jacket.

Nordstrom, Halogen Check Shift Dress, $98
A great work option. The collar is detachable so you can add your own oxford underneath for a long sleeve option.

The windowpane print is simple and eye catching. I love it for its versatility.

Skirt Growth Spurt

Let's take it to the max today. No, not Saved by the Bell The Max, I'm talking maxi skirts. Flowing, breezy, easy for summer skirts. These skirts are statement makers but sometimes you just need a staple, a neutral, the black pant of maxi skirts. Oh and you need it on sale. I give you the foundational maxi skirt under $50.

White House Black Market, Pleated Maxi Skirt, $49
This skirt is downright whimsical. I love the blush tone and the skirt is 60% off.

Forever 21, Pintucked Maxi Skirt, $27
The seaming on this skirt gives it a sweeping effect. I love the amber color as well.

I wish you didn't look at the price of this skirt. Doesn't this look black tie ready? You've GOT to see the pink version.
A tall glass of lemonade anyone? This skirt is ready for espadrilles, flats, flip flops, or heels.

Maxi skirts are a great staple to add to your summer rotation. They are versatile with tees, blouses, button downs, and more.

Opal-eese

Let's play with a fine stone. It's almost Friday, I think we have earned some pretty things. Let's look at some opal. I love this stone because it comes in so many different color variations. I particularly like the milk opal. The creamy stone with flecks of pink and green when the light hits it just right.

Need Supply, Tiny Marquis Ring, $70
Minimalistic but so pretty. I love the rose gold.

Baublebar, Malisandre Stud Earrings, $32
A beautiful cluster for a stud earring. Busy but not heavy.

White House Black Market, White Opal Teardrop Necklace, $24
On a hot summer day, who wouldn't want this frosty necklace around their neck?

Bloomingdale's, Rebecca Minkoff Two Stone Cuff, $98
Simple, bold, and unassuming. Very cool.

What do you think about opal? If you love it, what shade or type is your favorite? This milky hue goes with everything in my closet.

I know, I know, I have 684 weddings to attend this summer, I can't be spending money on white dresses. I hear you and I'm here for you. All of these dresses are UNDER $75. Ladies, treat yo' self.

First Row: one/two (under $20)/three
Second Row: one/two/three

So go ahead and splurge, actually is it really a splurge when it's this great of a deal? Think about it. The BBQs, hot summer date nights, dinner al fresco, it's LWD season.

Put a Bow on It

Hi lovebugs,
It's Monday, so I'm going to keep this pretty short and sweet. It's cardigan season, it's also layering season, which means it's also belt season. Today we're looking at bow belts. These are an easy and chic accessory that you can pair over you cards, add a waist to a dress, put over your coat, do I need to go on?

Target, Mossimo Bow Belt,$14
This shade of brown looks so rich. I'd pair it with a navy sweater dress.

A beautiful lace that would add the perfect pop to a bridesmaid's dress or a suit.

Ok how about a crisp white oxford with this pop of teal? Oh yes. I love it!

White House Black Market, Red Silverstone Skinny Bow Belt, $44
I like this skinny red option for a bold print. It adds a pop of wow to big pattern.

I love layering season and I love accessorizing in unexpected ways. These feminine belts can work with a trench coat, tunic, dress, you name it.

Short and Sweet

We haven't talked shorts in some time, which is odd because it's prime shorts season. I thought we would go back to some fun basics and look at cotton print shorts. A go to piece in your drawer that is machine washable, graphic, and weekend ready.

Ann Taylor, Rope Print Shorts, $59
Small print, color block and belt loops to add a contrasting white rope belt.

A cute geo print with just the touch of stretch that you are grateful for after a summer BBQ.

White House Black Market, Floral Printed Short, $29
A great price for a really versatile short. You can easily dress this up with a pink silk top or go casual with a simple tee.

J Crew, Hibiscus Floral Short, $69
And speaking of floral, how about this colorful option that is ready for heeled sandals or a linen tunic.

A simple pair of cotton shorts will be a life saver for you this summer. They work with so many things in your closet and they won't break the bank.

Don't Fear the Ankle

Sometimes fashion can be scary. You're not sure if the trend is going stick and if it does, can you pull it off? Remember when we feared color blocking? How about jeggings? Exactly, sometimes we have to embrace change and tailor the trend to work for us.

What's today's 'can I really wear this' trend? The cinched ankle pant. Not full on harem, not sweats, a comfortable day to night dress pant that I think we can all wear.

A great geometric print that is more streamlined with a pair of black stilettos.

I really like the contrasting waistband that dresses up this pick.

White House Black Market, Tapered Crepe Pant, $49
This is the best version of a day to night option. Simple, chic and with the change of a shoe or earring you're ready for date night.

Another great geometric print that can be worn during the day with metallic flat sandals and in the evening with a pair of heels.

If you're still on the fence, I totally get it. Look for a fabric that you feel comfortable in. Something with a little more weight to them, Try drawstring, try zip up, try solid, try print. Find what works for you.

Reader Request: Red Blazer

Today's post is brought to you by a great question from one of our readers. What do you wear with a red blazer. I'm going to give you a couple of options, one print, one pastel, and one saturated.

First let's pick a blazer.

Do yourself a favor and click this link. This blazer comes in 12 colors and prints, and it's under 60 bucks.

White House Black Market, Fitted Gingham Bodice, $88
Here's the printed option. And really any black and white print would pop with a red blazer. I like this one because of the piping.

I actually just bought this top myself last weekend and I can't wait to wear it. This is your bright/pastel option.

Fun fact, I also own this dress and I love it. It's got a deeper plum color than this picture shows, which makes it a perfect base for a bold red blazer.

In my opinion, as long as you avoid looking like the Fourth of July or Christmas, you can pair your red blazer with just about anything!
