Split Sides

When I think of a side slit two things come to mind: a pencil skirt that's trying to hard or an oversized tunic. We're looking at neither of these things today. This side slit is quiet and unassuming. It's a small detail on these tops that kind of make the look.

Nordstrom, Lush Side Slit Tank, $34
Simple. It also comes in eight other colors so have some fun.

Nothing about this says hippy tunic, this is modern and chic.

We all need this top. Its sassy with stitched stipe details and a collar.

Victoria's Secret, Side Slit Anytime Tee, $34
Comfort meets style. I like the athletic look of this tee but the slit really steps it up a notch.

I'm a sucker for simple details and the side slit top is no exception. Dress it up, down or take it from desk to drinks. It's an easy style.

Knot for Nothing

I often talk about details. Polka dots, hemlines, exposed zippers. Such small attention to detail points that can change the look of a piece. Today let's talk about knots.

Nordstrom, Halogen Knot Front Tee, $23
I love this tee. It's so cute and casual. It also comes in five other colors!

Simple but better than your average tee!

I'm scooping this up for fall asap. Sweatshirts are coming back and this one is amazing.

Joe Fresh, Knot Tee in Light Blush, $19
Great fit on this tee. It hugs but you can still enjoy Taco Tuesday.

Spicing up your tee is easy with accessories, but I like the idea of a tee that does the work for you! Try a knot for some simple spunk in your casual wear.

A Slit Above

We are putting away the sweaters and dusting off the tees and it is about time. Don't get me wrong, I love sweater weather but these 70 degree weekends have been pretty great. I thought we would dress up your average tee today with a newer trend that shows some skin. The side slit. It's a simple and understated detail but styled with the right accessories and bottom, it's effortlessly chic.

Forever 21, Side-Slit Top, $19
See what I mean? Simple, elegant, unexpected.

A little nautical flair? Don't mind if I do.

Express, One Eleven Lazy Day Side Slit Tee, $15
A perfect weekend shirt. Enough said.

Nordstrom, Topshop Suedette Oversize Crop Tee, $75
This top goes with everything. Prints, jeans, you name it.

Need to spice up your weekend t-shirt rotation? Try a side slit for a breezy and unexpected detail.

I'm Like a Bird

We are taking it back to basics today but dressing it up a little bit. Take a basic t shirt top and give it some flair! A feminine flutter sleeve gives a standard tee something extra. It's dressier, sexy, and perfectly unpredictable.

Yes, Target! A sunny yellow, flutter sleeves and even a flouncy hem!

How about a summery print? Palm fronds were big last summer and this print is great for work!

JCrew Factory, Flutter Sleeve Top, $34
I have this top in white and it gets more wear than I care to share. It's a fantastic staple.

Perfect for work or play and try it in all five colors!

Such a quiet detail makes a big statement. A flutter sleeve for spring is subtle but dressy.

Put Words in My Mouth

Summer is hot. It's so freakin' hot. Like why sun? Why do you need to turn it up like this? All I want is a cotton t-shirt and shorts because I'm going to sweat through them. So today let's look at some fun graphic tees that say how you feel.

To the point. I believe this everyday. I'd pair this with denim shorts and a ponytail.

This tee is slub jersey so it's like the cashmere of cotton in terms of comfort.

Boom. Have some fun with this top and dress it up with statement earrings

Every woman needs this shirt. Every. Woman. Is butter a carb?

Have some fun with your fashion and say what you want.

Drop it Like it's Shoulder

Let's stick with the comfortable style trend we started yesterday and look at some soft tees. More specifically, let's look at a trend that is casual and relaxed: the drop shoulder. Such a simple detail that changes the entire look of the top.

This shirt may look slubby at first glance, but try it on. It's swingy and turn around for a breezy surprise. A discreet back slit.

JCrew Factory, Colorblock Drop Shoulder Tee, $24
Peachy, huh? I like the combination of navy with this not in-your-face orange.

Something simple that is effortless as is or dress it up with a great statement necklace.

A slouchy tee with a nice update. As you can see, this drop shoulder option pairs perfectly with a pencil skirt and heels.

The drop shoulder trend is a nice departure form the form fitting scuba trends or crop tops. It reminds me of the cool girl at the party that walks in and looks like she 'just threw this on' and looks incredible.

Zip It

Let's get really specific today. You all know I love details and today is no different. Today we're going to add some interest to a tee. Yep. And nothing crazy. A zipper. I give you the zipper tee.

This was the item that inspired this post. Simple and chic. Scoop neck, high low hem, great color and a simple zipper.

I'm not sure why this model looks so surprised to be here but the tee looks great on her. Super relaxed.

Ralph Lauren, Zippered Striped Crewneck, $10
You truly cannot beat the price of this tee for the quality that you'll be getting. It's going to last a while. Notice the simple zipper on the shoulder.

Again with the surprised models. I guess zippers scare the crap out of ladies. In any case, this is an adorable tee ready for a leather skirt.

Zippers are unexpected when they're not holding an item together. Use them for extra interest without necessarily having to wear a pattern.

Linen Tee

It's tee time lovebugs, and when it's hot and you want something that isn't cotton, turn to linen. It's a great, breathable material that can switch up your usual cotton tee and shorts combination.

I'm layering this quiet tee with some baubles, some long necklaces and maybe some chambray tie waist shorts.

Banana Republic, Double layer linen tee, $28
A simple and easy to throw on a go top. This tee also comes in three other colors.

What a great yellow. This is great for a Saturday picnic or dress it up for the office with a black pencil skirt.

Free People, Jammy Striped Tee, $40
I love the pattern changes in this shirt, the great neckline also adds some drama.

I love linen for summer because it is a great texture change. Just make sure to invest in some dryel to clean these items!
