Beautiful Boucle

It's still sweater weather and about this time of year I need a refresh on my closet. I love my sweaters, but midway (hopefully) through winter I need to add a couple to reinvigorate my drawers. Right now I love boucle sweaters. They are a fun throwback that are so ridiculously comfortable that you can't not love them.

A cozy throwover sweater for under twenty bucks? Sign me up.

Great relaxed neckline makes this sweater easy to dress down with jeans or leggings.

Could this girl be more casual cool? I think not. And this sweater is half off.

And now for a baby blue. So soft and sweet. I love this with plaid.

Boucle's long loops give it a cozy, almost chenille texture. This makes for maximum comfort.

Creature Comforts

Ok, we're back. No more quiet workdays because half of the world is on vacation. It's for real and it's 2017. Are you ready? Not quite? That's ok, I've got you covered with some cozy long cardigans that look great and make you feel like you're still under the covers.

Anthropologie, Snow Day Cardigan, $79
Hello comfort. A beautiful drape and the perfect sleeve length.

Nordstrom, Leith Easy Knit Cardigan, $47
This knit is 40% right now and I am loving the marled texture.

Speaking of texture. Can we just have a moment with this layer of love?

This color will go with anything. You can also belt it to dress it up a bit.

I hope you don't have to wear a pencil skirt and pantyhose today. If you do, look at these comfy cardis and think of puppies.

Too Close to Shawl

It's almost Friday, so let's get comfy. A beautiful shawl cardigan is equal parts feminine and cozy. I love it belted with jeans and booties for a daytime look and with leggings and slippers for a warm night in.

Nordstrom, Hinge Ribbed Cardigan, $89
What did I tell you? And check out these pretty bell sleeves.

A classic winter white will pair beautifully with a striped tee or cords of any color.

Simple and casual.

And a great black option for when you're feeling extra New York.

The shawl collar is a must have in your winter sweater rotation. It is so comfy and cozy. You won't regret it.

Cowl It Whatever You Want

Let's talk cozy. Let's talk cowl. The cowl neck is a classic style that can be dressed up or down and made to fit any style. From a black tie formal gown to a simple tee, the cowl neck can do no wrong.  In fact, the original cowl neck dress was made by Madeleine Vionnet who designed it for celebs like Katharine Hepburn. Today I thought we would scale it back.

As I said, the cowl neck can go from classy to casual and today we're looking at casual cozy. The cowl neck sweater is comfort to the max.

Modcloth, Cowl to Action Sweater, $79
Cozy. What did I tell ya? Pair it with a plum long sleeve tee for a pop of color.

Last Call Neiman Marcus, Sweet Romeo Cowl Neck Sweater, $59
So sleek. I'd pair this with leather leggings for a fun but comfortable night out.

This might be my favorite. I love how the cable knit falls over the shoulders.

Shoptiques, Umgee Poncho Cowl Neck, $59
Part poncho, part sweater, all comfort. Pair it with booties and then slippers when you get home.

Sweater weather is upon us and I'm stocking up on comfy cowl necks that will be the most versatile style in my closet this winter.

The Look Back

Hi there lovebugs,
As you know I'm a sucker for details. Small somethings that make a piece extra special. Today's detail is a lace back. Lace isn't just for summer. These sweaters are classic pieces that go with everything, but turnaround, it's a whole new game.

Last Call Neiman Marcus, Lace Back Stretch Knit Sweater, $29
See what I mean? A classic open front cardi, and then, BAM!

Simple. Easy. Then something extra.

A casual marl fabric is dressed up with a little gathering in the back and some lace.

I'm showing the ivory option because it highlights the lace details on the screen, but I actually prefer the army green color.

We are easing into sweater weather, why not have some fun with it? A little lace is perfect for fall.

Effortlessly Cool

Ok lovebugs,
It's sweater weather stock up time and I am loving the dolman sleeve trend. It is so cozy and cool. It is relaxed but luxe. Let me explain.

Grab a long statement necklace and you're good.

Urban Outfitters, Olive & Oak Basic Dolman Sweater, $59
Such a great base for fall. I'd wear as is or play with layering a printed collar.

Forever 21, Mock Neck Dolman Sweater, $24
Obsessed with this rich green. It's got more structure than a poncho but it's breezy and cool.

Boatneck with a fitted waist. Just a gorgeous jewel tone as well.

The dolman sleeve is effortless. These sweaters are all comfort but you can dress them up so easily.

PG Rated Lace Ups

Let's talk lace up. We've seen it in flats and they are plentiful this season, but what about tops. Of course you can go overly sexy with this trend but, that's not why you're reading this blog. So let's do lace up for daytime.

Forever 21, Plaid Lace Up Shirt, $15
I love the crisp plaid with the split neck, but look closely, check out the diamond studded shoulders.

Lord & Taylor, Cropped Lace Up Top, $89
Sweater weather has gotten an upgrade with this cheeky yet cozy number.

American Eagle, Lace Up Sweater, $33
Soft waffle knit? Sign. Me. Up.

Lord & Taylor, Cross My Heart Hoodie, $51
Watching some football this weekend? Pair this with some ripped bf jeans and enjoy.

A simple lace up does not have to be overly scandalous. I really like mixing in some bling in the form of earrings to dress it up.

That's A Wrap

Happy Tuesday lovebugs!
I hope you had a lovely weekend whether it was long or not so long. We got a couple of inches of snow in DC this weekend, which in my opinion was a reward for putting up with frigid temps all weekend! And its supposed to be 60 this weekend. While the weather may wacky, let's keep it season specific with some wrap sweaters. In the summer, we love wrap dresses, so why not carry the silhouette to winter in the form of a sweater?

Supple cashmere in a rich merlot. Talk about a statement yet class neckline.

Lord and Taylor, Ralph Lauren Wrap Cardigan, $27
$50 off right now. This is going to be a go to piece in your closet. A little ballerina-esque.

And speaking of feminine, this wrap cardi reminds me of something Zooey Deschanel would wear.

Hello cozy comfort. I'm not too sure what's happening underneath but I love this heathered sweater.

So it may be 10 degrees or 50 degrees, either way you can layer up and wrap up in a wrap sweater this winter.

Sweater (Skirt) Weather

Yesterday we talked cozy scarves and today I thought we would continue the cozy with sweater knit skirts. Yes it's sweater weather but why can't we mix it up and wear a sweater skirt?

JCrew, Sweater Skirt, $99
Talk about a punch of sunshine. Or pick this up in the 2016 pantone pink.

Club Monaco, Abelar Ribbed Sweater Skirt, $99
A super simple skirt with perfect details. Ribbed pattern, gray flecked wool, just a classic piece.

Ann Taylor, Pleated Sweater Skirt, $89
A beautiful winter white is so crisp and inviting. I love the flounce silhouette.

W Concept, Plaid Sweater Skirt, $59
Simple, classic, chic. This cozy skirt is the perfect staple for your winter skirt game.

So when you think sweater weather don't just think crewneck, v neck, or turtleneck. Think skirts.

All Frills

As we enter sweater weather I'm always on the hunt for a unique sweater that stands out from my staple crewnecks, turtlenecks, and cable knit. That's why I really love peplum. That's right. Peplum sweaters offer a bit of personality with a waist frill. And let's be honest, who doesn't want a little frill in their life.

See what I mean? Simple, a little frill. Perfect.

Ann Taylor, Stitchy Peplum Sweater, $98
Usually I'm not about dropping this much for one item, but then I touched this sweater. And I needed to live in it, so you know, cost per wear. Oh my days the cozy.

Last Call Neiman Marcus, Peplum Rib Knit Sweater, $98 $41
I'm pairing this perfectly crimson sweater with a statement necklace and skinny cords.

Lord and Taylor, 1 State Knit Peplum Sweater, $89
A really pretty mauve and a more understated peplum style. A beautiful sweater.

Peplum is one of my favorite shapes for tops, so I'm thrilled to see continue through winter with sweaters. As always, pair a contrasting button down or flannel underneath for maximum impact.
