Not Not Loving the Knot

As the weather gets warmer, its important to realize the variety of casual weekend shirts that are available. These tops will keep you cool and stylish without blowing your budget. One style I really like it the tie front waist top. It's breezy and can be dressed up or down.

J Crew Factory, Striped Tie Waist Pocket Tee, $34
How adorable is this tee? Pair it with cotton shorts or an eyelet skirt.

Bloomingdale's, AQUA Tie Front Tee, $24
A crisp and clean white tee that is as soft as can be.

I love this top with patterned shorts. It's a staple without being boring.

And a button down version. Simple and easy to accessorize.

Sure it's easy to grab a tank top on those hot days, but know you've got options. Stylish ones.

Pomfection

A few weeks ago we looked at pom pom sandals and today I thought we would continue the trend with pom tops. They're cute, quirky, and great for the end of summer.

How cute is this? I love the tiers and color contrast.

Loft, Pom Pom Shell, $44
Simple is the name of the game here. Pair it with anything in your closet.

I love this top. It's eye catching and structured but it's got personality.

She In, Pom Pom Trim Blouse, $22
Need some color? Try this blouse with multicolor poms.

Why leave pom poms to accessories when you can wear them? These tops are unique and all under $70!

A Slit Above

We are putting away the sweaters and dusting off the tees and it is about time. Don't get me wrong, I love sweater weather but these 70 degree weekends have been pretty great. I thought we would dress up your average tee today with a newer trend that shows some skin. The side slit. It's a simple and understated detail but styled with the right accessories and bottom, it's effortlessly chic.

Forever 21, Side-Slit Top, $19
See what I mean? Simple, elegant, unexpected.

A little nautical flair? Don't mind if I do.

Express, One Eleven Lazy Day Side Slit Tee, $15
A perfect weekend shirt. Enough said.

Nordstrom, Topshop Suedette Oversize Crop Tee, $75
This top goes with everything. Prints, jeans, you name it.

Need to spice up your weekend t-shirt rotation? Try a side slit for a breezy and unexpected detail.

Lost My Keys

Details are one of my favorite things in the whole world. Texture, embellishments, you name it, I love it. Today we are looking at a sassy detail called the keyhole. A tiny bit of skin shown perfectly through this detailed cutout. Today we're looking at this trend in tops.

Yes, you can wear this top. No, you don't have to wear these daisy dukes with them. Try white jeans or tiered midi skirt.

Banana Republic, Layered Halter, $69
A beautiful crepe tank that looks so effortless. Also comes in three other colors.

I love this blown out floral print. It's quite dressy, which you don't usually think of when you think of halter tops.

Looking for something that makes a statement without saying a word? This top. So simple! Blousy on the bottom and sassy on top.

A simple detail makes all of the difference and these halter tops are perfect for summer.

Do a Doubletake

Let's talk about details. A simple top is taken to the next level with embroidery or a tassel embellishment. Today we're looking at a detail that is so simple and quiet, you may not even notice it until you turn around. Do a double take because these tulip back tops are perfect for summer.

Forever 21, Tulip Back Top, $14
This fuchsia is one of my favorite colors for summer. It's going to be perfect with any statement necklace. Tortoise, mint green, neon yellow, pair away because everything is going to pop with this top.

Zappos, KAVU Bernice Blouse, $45
I love this ikat print in a bright evergreen. Even work appropriate because of the length.

Who doesn't love scallops? I'm loving this tank for the 100 degree summer days in our future.

Old Navy, Women's Tulip Back Tank, $16
How breezy and casual is this tank from Old Navy? Great price, great look.

The tulip hem is a great detail for simple pieces that you can add your own flair to. The tulip back is such an easy twist on this trend. Great for summer weather.

Get Off the Shoulder

Ok lovebugs, I have a confession to make. I don't love the off the shoulder trend. I have no great reason other than, it just doesn't do it for me. That being said, when the weather gets hot. Not just sweating on your way to work hot, but holy crap do I have to leave the house hot, these light, sometimes skimpy, tops are perfect. So let's look at some off the shoulder tops.

See what I mean? Think of all the ways you could style this top. Printed soft pants, a sequin mini, jeans, a slim midi skirt, the list goes on. The swing pleats offer just enough movement.

This top is the definition of flounce. Easy, feminine, and fun.

This top is very super model to me. So effortless and so beautiful.

You can't beat the price on this top. I love that its a dark navy instead of a harsher black stripe.

Off the shoulder trend can be overly hippie or overly sexy, but you can also find styles that work with the rest of your closet. Look for patterns that you already love or pair a statement necklace with a solid option.
