Take it to Another Level

Summer is dress season and I love that. So many colors, patterns, and styles to choose from and one look I'm especially loving is the tiered skirt. This detail give a dress a little extra something. It's sculptural without adding bulk.

This dress is stunning. A crochet knit, illusion neckline, tiered in a crisp white hue.

A simple babydoll shape that would look great for a BBQ and add a jean jacket for evening.

Beautiful pastel stripes with a barely thee neckline and straps. Perfect for a hot summer night.

Saks Off Fifth, Cynthia Steffe Lace Tiered Dress, $69
Got a wedding this summer? I've got your dress.

Add tiers to make a statement. Mix it with lace, crochet, strips, or a print to really have some fun.

When the Ball Drops

We all love tassel earrings, but one trend I am loving these days is the ball drop earrings. They are so playful and colorful but you can also dress them up with a sundress or dress them down with scalloped shorts.

Bloomingdale's, AQUA Margot Ball Drop Earrings, $25
A little preppy but a little dressy.

Multicolor perfection. I'd pair this with jeans and a simple white tee.

A little pink for summer? Don't mind if I do.

Shopbop, Shashi Tilda Earrings, $45
A great ombre earring with some dramatic length.

Let's party with some ball drop earrings!

Fan me with Fronds

It's officially summer. I hope everyone had a great long weekend. I thought we would kick off summer with a print that screams warm weather and vacation. The palm print. It's pretty and bold and I love it for warm weather.

Bloomingdale's, Olivaceous Palm Print Tank, $48
Simple and chic. Perfect to dress up with a blazer or down with shorts.

Dorothy Perkins, Pink Palm Print Jumpsuit, $69
How about an allover print jumpsuit with a cold shoulder?

A classic palm print in a blouse that will be a workhorse in your closet this summer.

Saks Off Fifth, Tie Waist Romper, $49
One more one piece. This just screams vacation to me. Its also 60% off now.

When I think summer I think beach, sun, and palm trees. Why not rock the print that reminds you of summer?

Summer Shoes

Warmer temps mean a change in many things, perhaps the most important of which is footwear. Ok maybe not the most important, but it's a big deal. Pedicures are had, flip flops are dusted off, and for me an espadrille purchase is made. I love espadrilles as a dressier summer shoe and these lace up options have personality.

I really, really want these shoes. It's been really difficult for me to not put these in my cart. I love the stripes and the monochrome.

Saks Off Fifth, Schutz Kobi Lace Up Espadrille, $79
Currently half off, these lace ups alternate a braided lace up and plain.

Feminine and bright, these also come in a muted tan.

Another wedge option with a simple canvas ribbon lace up.

Lace up those new shoes and enjoy the warmer weather. It's espadrille season.

Tie the Knot

Let's look at a fun and easy tee that offers a little something extra. It's about the little things like an unexpected hemline or a detailed sleeve that grab my attention. Today it's the knot tee.

A pop of sunshine with a relaxed fit.

Just a beautiful staple piece with an unexpected high-lo hem.

Saks Off Fifth, Scoopneck Long Sleeve Tee, $34
Speaking of staples, how about adding this to your weekend rotation?

Super soft club makes this a great tee for running errands or dressing up with printed crops.

A simple knot that makes these tees stand out from the crowd. Oh and they're all under $35.

Right to Bear Arms

Ok Friday, we're almost there. Friday eve and we're having some layering fun with a sleeveless coat. I love this look for spring because it can be loose or structure, suede or cotton, belted or open, so many options and so many styles.

Last Call Neiman Marcus, Line Sleeveless Trench Vest, $54
Classic trench style meets street style chic.

Talk about spring. I love this color!

A beautiful long blazer that exudes confidence.

One more from Last Call, such nice blend of military coat with sleeveless trench.

What do you think about this style? Love it for spring or leave it for a jean jacket?

Partying with Palms

This weekend, I am heading to Florida for a quick birthday trip. A little sun and baseball. That got me inspired to look at some warm weather prints, which is why we're looking at palm leaves today. They're fun, graphic, and come in all colors and styles.

Monochrome chic that I'd add a pop of neon in the form of earrings to really make it stand out.

Is it maxi season yet? Fine, I'll wait, but I'm adding this one to my rotation.

A great dress for evening because it's breezy but the long sleeves make it easy to go from day to night.

Saks Off Fifth, Kensie Palm Print Top, $24
I'm loving this top with some bf jeans and espadrilles.

Sure we may be layering up for a few more weeks, but I'm looking forward to my trip to some warm temps this weekend!

Power Puff Girls

Maybe it hasn't felt like winter everyday this season so far, and that's ok. We've had a handful of omg this is the tundra days but nothing longstanding. But, when those days do come, you've gotta be prepared. I am talking about an adorable beanie. Something with a pompom that is fun and warm.

Bloomingdale's, Nor La Marled Cuff Hat, $58
A classic navy with a punchy pom. What's not to love?

Cashmere cap. Comfort central.

Hello cheery yellow! What a fun way to brighten up a frigid day.

Anthropologie, Pommed Sequin Beret, $48
I really like the ribbing on this cap. It gives it a slouchy look.

Have some fun with your outerwear. If you're going to be freezing, you might as well look great.

Falling for Plaid

It may be a bit early to talk plaid but when you mix it with a lighter fabric, you're good. That's why we're looking at silk plaid. It's got the masculine print mixed with the ladylike medium of silk.

65% off. I repeat, Equipment blouse 65% off.

I love these pants. A high fashion designer making a casual yet professional pant. These are going to look great with heels.

Side note to this great top. How amazing is this model's hair?

This scarf is going to look fantastic with your cable knit sweaters or waffle knit thermal tees.

Yes plaid is traditionally a winter print, but this isn't wool plaid or fleece plaid, this is silk plaid and it's made for fall. Still not convinced? Lighten it up with some baubles or a jean jacket.

Give It the Boot

I have no doubt that we will be talking boots a lot this season, so we might as well start now. I really love the flat boot because you can wear them all day long and transition them to night with a quick outfit change. Today we're looking at flat ankle boots that will look great with a skirt and bare legs now and with jeans later.

Famous Footwear, Carlos Brie Ankle Boots, $49
Seriously, Famous Footwear. Who knew? So sleek!

American Eagle, Cutout Ankle Bootie, $44
Different and quite awesome, I must say, AEO. Good work!

Saks Off Fifth, Franco Sarto Marta Leather Ankle Boots, $69
Great blend of motorcycle boot and equestrian metal details.

Old Navy, Faux Leather Pointy Boots, $39
I see you Old Navy looking all high fashion.

What boots are you loving for fall? These easy walking flat options are great for fall and winter. Great comfort and style.

Investments

Let's talk vests. I know. Not our usual dresses, dots, and stripes. It's time to look at some transition pieces that add so much to your usual rotation. The vest is not a TGI Fridays vest, it's classy, chic, and unexpected.

Nordstrom Rack, Chaus Draped Crepe Vest, $99 $49
Simple. A great neutral to pair with leopard or navy.

Target, Sleeveless Scuba Blazer, $59 $29
Structured but the open front gives some playfulness to the look.

Saks Off Fifth, C&C California Draped Vest, $119 $49
I love the trench look here. I would switch out the belt to add some personality and pop.

This is your goes with everything vest. Pair a long tassel necklace, jeans, belt it, it doesn't matter.

Don't write off the vest when you're itching to do some fall shopping. It's a versatile piece that will be a workhorse in your closet.
