Startling Statement

I love a statement necklace but so often they are full of jewels and baubles that can dominate an outfit. So let's look at some eye-catching statement necklaces that don't rely on the usual chunky baubles but still make an entrance.

See what I mean? Pow.

Something totally different. Earthy feel to it but still dressy.

A beautiful mix of nautical colors with a layered look.

This piece has a regal look to it. I love the mix of materials with this powerful red.

Sure a blingy statement necklace is always a go to piece in my closet, but try to mix it up with something powerful that is also unexpected.

Effortlessly Cool

Ok lovebugs,
It's sweater weather stock up time and I am loving the dolman sleeve trend. It is so cozy and cool. It is relaxed but luxe. Let me explain.

Grab a long statement necklace and you're good.

Urban Outfitters, Olive & Oak Basic Dolman Sweater, $59
Such a great base for fall. I'd wear as is or play with layering a printed collar.

Forever 21, Mock Neck Dolman Sweater, $24
Obsessed with this rich green. It's got more structure than a poncho but it's breezy and cool.

Boatneck with a fitted waist. Just a gorgeous jewel tone as well.

The dolman sleeve is effortless. These sweaters are all comfort but you can dress them up so easily.

Wanna Race?

Let's race. I mean racerback. This simple back detail is usually seen with athletic wear but it can also be dressed up with the right cut and style. Check out these hot weather approved racerback tanks.

This top was originally $228. You need this staple in your closet. It's going to be a summer go to.

This silk tank is so much fun to mix and match with colors and patterns in your closet. Or go super simple with white jeans. Very versatile piece and dressy to boot.

Modcloth, A Nutrient Lease on Life, $29
Pineapples, anyone? I love the print and the white dot detail on the hem.

Blush tank with a front pattern that is breezy and casual.

When the weather is in the triple digits and you can't even bear to wear sleeves, try a racerback tank! It's a great way to mix up your summer sweat wardrobe.

That's A Wrap

Happy Tuesday lovebugs!
I hope you had a lovely weekend whether it was long or not so long. We got a couple of inches of snow in DC this weekend, which in my opinion was a reward for putting up with frigid temps all weekend! And its supposed to be 60 this weekend. While the weather may wacky, let's keep it season specific with some wrap sweaters. In the summer, we love wrap dresses, so why not carry the silhouette to winter in the form of a sweater?

Supple cashmere in a rich merlot. Talk about a statement yet class neckline.

Lord and Taylor, Ralph Lauren Wrap Cardigan, $27
$50 off right now. This is going to be a go to piece in your closet. A little ballerina-esque.

And speaking of feminine, this wrap cardi reminds me of something Zooey Deschanel would wear.

Hello cozy comfort. I'm not too sure what's happening underneath but I love this heathered sweater.

So it may be 10 degrees or 50 degrees, either way you can layer up and wrap up in a wrap sweater this winter.

Slip On Style

I loved the athletic chic trend we saw this summer and I'm looking forward to continuing it into the fall. Now that we are putting the sandals away, I tend to gravitate to more casual weekend shoes before it's boot season. This year, I'm all about the slip on sneaker. It's athletic, comfortable, and totally versatile.

Nordstrom, Steve Madden Ecentrcq, $59
Simple gray quilted leather will go with everything.

Farfetch, Vans Slip On Sneakers, $83
These are tiny bears. How can you not love this?

Black jeans, bf faded jeans, a long sleeve sweatshirt dress, this is a do it all sneaker.

I found polka dot ones, I needed to post them. I'm not sorry.

Slip on sneakers offer style and comfort for fall before it's tights and boots season. Embrace the athletic look with a print or style that works for you!

Makes Wide Turns

You know what simple trend I love for workwear? Wide leg trousers. I think they are crazy chic and make such a statement, which is tough to do with pants. When I did a quick search for them, everything I found was linen or resort wear. I'm sorry, but it's 7 degrees here. So I kept digging, and found these great winter options.

I'm telling you, you can wear this. It's corporate, feminine, and creates a teeny waist.

Loft, Peppered Tweed Pleated Wide Leg Trouser, $69 (extra 40% off today!)
Ooooh this texture. These pants are long and lean and a bit Olivia Pope.

A bit bolder but this elastic waist is comfort central.

I know there aren't many sizes left, but I had to grab this pair because of the price!

Wide leg trousers are an easy way to boost the wardrobe up a notch. They're versatile, dressy, and work with tops and sweaters that are already in your closet!

Knock, Knock

Let's talk earrings. I'm loving the newest architectural trend: the door knocker. That's right, the door knocker. This item is known for it's weight, but in an earring it's quite delicate and classic in a welcoming sort of way. (See what I did there? Welcoming?)

I love me some tortoise because it goes with everything. These simple earrings would work with a suit or jeans.

For a silver option, I really like this modern drop earring.

For a more literal take on this trend, I love these stately yet adorable studs.

And how about a dressy option? These blinged out earrings can knock on my door anytime.

Thoughts on this earring trend? There are a lot of them right now, and we'll get there, but I really like this solid yet classic trend.

Blanket Statement

I'm seeing the blanket scarf trend everywhere. You've got Lacey, Kathy, and Danielle and other fabulous bloggers. I love this scarf trend. It's perfect to layer for fall with your favorite bf jeans, tie onto your purse for extra color, or bundle up in when it gets even colder. Today we're looking some great blanket scarf options that are under $70.

Shoptiques, Garance Blanket Scarf, $40
I love the color combination here because it will work with a khaki trench, a navy puffer vest, or a black winter coat.

Bloomingdale's, AQUA Oversized Plaid Scarf, $68
These colors are bright for the duller days of fall. I also love the pink option.

Boden, Skye Scarf, $58
Boden suggests using this scarf to 'outwit the weather' and I couldn't agree more.

Ralph Lauren, Desert Blanket Scarf, $42
Not so much for the plaid? How about this great western option?

So there you have it. You don't have to be a fabulous blogger to work a blanket scarf you just have to be your fabulous self! Try any of these options plus even more color combinations!

Leather Meets Grandpa

Sticking with yesterday's leather trend, I thought we would take a look at some leather in a less expected place- the leather elbow patch. It's kind of grandpa-ish, kind of preppy, all fall.

Ann Taylor, Faux Leather Elbow Patch Tee, $36 $22!!!!
This stripe option is perfect for the weekend. I'd dress it up with a longer necklace

How simple and classic is this top? This is also a great layering option.

I think is my favorite option. It's comfortable and yet fitted.

Is this expensive? Yes. Is there anything better than a nubby knit boyfriend fit cardigan? Nope. This cardigan will pay for itself in one season.

The leather or faux leather elbox patch is a trendy way to dress up this old school style. I love it for sweatshirts, tops, and sweaters. More elbow patches. More happy.

Downright Dotty

Let's talk dots. I have a strong love of dots and today we're going to combine my love with an easy to wear trend: black and white.

My dear friend Lacey sported this last week and since then it's been sitting in my cart. I may need it.

Ralph Lauren, Polka Dot Wide Leg Pant, $64
How about these breezy pants with a neon peplum sleeveless blouse? Love.

Oh Tahari, you get me. A sassy contrasting tie front top that is perfect for work or play.

Just a touch below the knee makes this skirt retro while still being sexy.

Who doesn't love a great polka dot? No one. Now pair it with any color under the sun, that's the beauty of the black and white trend.

Can You Hear Me Now

Yesterday we did scarves and today since it is still ridiculously cold, let's look at some adorable ear muffs. I like ear muffs because they don't ruin your hair and less static when you take it off. They're easy to throw in your purse and they come in so many styles.

Bloomingdale's, Ralph Lauren Tech Ear Muffs, $56
How chic are these muffs? Sequins with shearling lined ears. Glam, fun, and warm.

Club Monaco, Celeste Faux Fur Earmuff, $59 [sold out! here's another option]
There are a lot of rabbit fur ear muffs out there, and yes, they're luxurious, but for those who aren't all for the bunny ears (literally) here is a lovely faux fur option.

Bloomingdale's, Kate Spade Fall in Line Ear Muffs, $47
Zoom in and enjoy the orange and pink stripes on these beauties. What a warm pattern for a cold day.

Cable knit is not just for sweaters anymore! Rock out and stay warm with these.

Ear muffs for cold weather, its not the most original idea but it sure saves a good hair day. Stay warm and look fabulous.
