Startling Statement

I love a statement necklace but so often they are full of jewels and baubles that can dominate an outfit. So let's look at some eye-catching statement necklaces that don't rely on the usual chunky baubles but still make an entrance.

See what I mean? Pow.

Something totally different. Earthy feel to it but still dressy.

A beautiful mix of nautical colors with a layered look.

This piece has a regal look to it. I love the mix of materials with this powerful red.

Sure a blingy statement necklace is always a go to piece in my closet, but try to mix it up with something powerful that is also unexpected.

Petal Pushers

Friday eve, almost there lovebugs. Let's embrace this warm weather with some floral inspired pieces. I don't know about you, but my legs are looking real pale still, so I'm not wearing skirts everyday. That's why I love the cropped pant for work. They're comfortable and versatile and in floral, they're perfect for summer.

A beautiful oversized graphic that is feminine and unique.

Something a little more fitted, would look great with a blazer.

Elastic waistband and an effortlessly cool look.

For a floral that is a little less girly. Great option.

A great pant is obviously essential for work, but a unique print like these offer a great way to stand out in your 9-5 wear.

Tiny Dancer

Let's have some fun on a Friday eve. Show some leg. It's mini skirt tine. Not just any mini skirt, a printed mini that has some personality.

You can't beat this price, and look at the pipe detailing!

Topshop, Tie Mini Skirt, $60
How much FUN is this skirt?! I love the stripe, ruffle, tie, everything!

How stunning is this embroidery? The colors, the pattern, beautiful.

Major sale and great print. I love this with a denim jacket or a blazer.

Remember to know your length when wearing a mini skirt. Do the sit test in the dressing room. Sure a daring hemline is great, a full moon, not so much.

Girl, You Fancy

Let's get fancy without spending a ton. Jacquard is a great fabric to play dress up in because it's got a decadent texture without the crazy price tag. This type of fabric doesn't come in a particular color or pattern, it simply means a raised texture that gives an extra touch of elegance to your outfit.

See what I mean? A pair of pants that have a little something extra.

Need a statement piece? You've gotta get this jacket. Pair it for work or play.

I love this skirt because you can dress it up or down with heels or booties.

Banana Republic, Avery Fit Jacquard Pleated Pant, $26
A simple and sassy work pant that is easy to wear all year round.

Jacquard is a great way to dress up an everyday look without spending a bundle. Play with colors and prints that work for you.

Wrapped for Midnight

Ok, one holiday down, another to go this weekend. What are your plans for NYE? If you are in need of a fantastic dress, I've got you covered! I love a wrap dress for a night out, because so often a wrap dress is 9-5 wear. Add some sass and sultry to the look with these wrap dresses.

Forever 21, Velvet Wrap Dress, $45
Loving the asymmetrical hem and this velvet, so touchable!

Everyone needs a little glitter on NYE. Everyone.

Banana Republic, Long Sleeve Wrap Dress, $82
This dress offers a great base for dressing up or down.

Can we just for a minute with this dress? So many beautiful things happening here. Also comes in an LBD.

Wrap dresses don't have to be for the board room. I love them for going out because they create a beautiful and slimming silhouette.

Decadently Cozy

Hey there lovebugs,
Happy short week to you. I hope you have plans to visit friends and family at the end of this week. Today we're looking at one of my favorite textures in fashion: velvet. It is so decadent and cozy and it's just perfect for the holidays. Take a look at some of these velvet bags.

Anthropologie, Beaded Velvet Pouch, $38
Leave it to Anthro to take velvet to a new level. Look at this detail and the colors are just stunning.

This is just perfect for a holiday dress. It also comes in pewter and black.

Rachel Roy, Deco Disco Velvet Crossbody, $69
I love this with skinny jeans and sky high heels. A little rocker, a little disco, a lot awesome.

The perfect Thanksgiving clutch. I mean, orange velvet, come on.

What are your thoughts on velvet for the holidays? I think mixing in pieces like a bag or a blazer is a great way to step up an outfit.

I'm Going to Expose You

Hey lovebugs!
Happy humpday, we're getting there. Today I wanted to stay with the not-so-prepster trend. Yesterday we looked at leather; today it's exposed zippers. I like the edge that it adds to an outfit but not in an overt 'look at me I'm so hot' kind of way.

A great 3/4 length sleeve in this beautiful creamy red.

Bloomingdale's, Aqua Dress Large Eyelet Zip, $35
You guys. Exposed zipper, white eyelet, $35. Enough said.

Rachel Roy, The Back Up Trouser, $99
Look at this beautiful pink trouser. I love the gold zipper.

Nordstrom, Crepe de Chine Dress, $78
This dress just went on sale and I'm so glad it did. A great mix of colors and so simple.

The exposed zipper trend doesn't have to be super motorcycle chic. Try mixing it with other trends like color blocking or eyelet.

Statement Cuff

Happy Monday lovebugs!
I hope you had a great weekend. Here on the East Coast the weather was so beautiful.

Today I wanted to start off with a piece I think every woman should own, a statement cuff. It's an easy accessory to add to any outfit; and with the number of styles out there you can certainly find one that fits you.

Rachel Roy, Multicolor stretch cuff, $65
I love this geometric stretch bracelet, great to mix in with jeans or an LBD.

This is beautiful, light and airy. I love this cuff because it's funky but very dressy.

This is blingy and fabulous, maybe even a little edgy.

Tory Burch, Resin Cuff, $45
Love me some Tory Burch, and the price is right for this cuff.

What do you think of a chunky cuff bracelet? I think they are a nice break from a bangle bracelet.

Geometric Hoops

Let's talk hoops.  Not basketball, earrings.  But not just your normal circles, I'm talking geometric hoops, something more alluring to the eye.

Dainty, delicate, and just a touch rocker right?

Rachel Roy, Hematite tone squares, $26
I really love these with an LBD or a deep v neck.

Very simple like a hoop but this shape elongates the face.

Urban Outfitters, Tribal Point Hoop Earrings, $20
These are perfect for a breezy maxi dress, just enough bling.

I'm loving the simplicity of these earrings but these offer a little more edge.  Perfect for summer sweet dresses.
