Flamingo Sing

I may have a new favorite print for summer. This may surpass polka dots. I know. Flamingos. What says hot weather, colorful, and fun more than this bird? I love how they are popping up everywhere in fashion right now and I thought we'd look at some of my favorites.

Flamingos for work? Oh heck yes. Profesh and fun.

So yeah, these are in my cart right now. Might need these.

Anthropologie, Infinity Scarf, $58
Play with a printed accessory like this quirky flamingo scarf. I love this with a denim jacket.

Who says flamingos have to be pink? Love these cobalt shorts with a crop top!

Have some fun with these playful and colorful birds and mix this great print into your summer rotation!

Your Lips Are Movin'

It's almost Valentine's Day. If you missed my All In for under $100 date night outfit, you can check out here and if you're still looking for a heart-y gift, you will love this. Today we're talking lips. A fun and cheeky way to dress up for the holiday, or any day for that matter.

Starting with my favorite. A great pop art inspired top that is great to layer under an LBD, cardigan or wear as is.

Romwe, Lip Print Slim Dress, $15 (!!)
No, but really, the price on this dress. How amazing is this mini dress?

Target, Black Print Lips Top, $17
A sweet little tee that is casual and chic.

And saving the best for last. This peplum, understated top that does come with a matching bottom (sigh, amazing) but the top as is, just perfect with black pants or skinny denim.

So pucker up, ladies! It's the month of love. I hope these pieces have given you some romantic inspiration!

Zig-a-zig-ah

Sometimes you just feel quirky. You don't feel like wearing your solids, your stripes, even your dots. Sometimes you just want to throw on some zig zag.

Oh do I love this dress. The print is smaller which gives the skirt a lot of movement, and the pleats are perfectly ladylike and camouflaging.

Modcloth, Make it Zig Dress, $61
A very geometric looking print is softened by the sweetheart neckline and gathered pleats at the waist.

This shirt is great with jeans or tucked into a pencil skirt for work.

A great wear to work skirt that hits just above the knee. Oh and the kicker? It's machine washable. You're welcome.

So mix it up when it comes to patterns. Zig zag, chevron, dots, stripes, just have fun with it. If you walk with purpose I guarantee you will only get compliments.

Geometry

Geometric prints, for me, can be hit or miss. But with the right print, you can wear a great pattern and take it from retro to modern, casual to classy, and anywhere in between.

You really can't beat the price for the versatility of this blouse. Wear it alone with shorts, under a suit, pair it with a long necklace or maybe even a neon skirt.

You must click to see the back of this dress, it has the cutest peek-a-boo hole. And the price. Come on.

Last Call Neiman Marcus, Equipment Geometric Silk Shorts, $69
These silk shorts are adorable. I love the high waist and pops of yellow.

Michael Kors, Printed Jersey Dress, $99
You can totally pull off this dress. It's got great hem line details and it's jersey so it's easy to wear alone or layer a belt, blazer or denim jacket.

The geometric print trend will continue through the fall, so why not try it out now with some breeze pieces that you can experiment with it.

Fancy Pants

Happy Tuesday lovebugs! I hope you had a wonderful long weekend! I spent mine at a wedding in Pennsylvania wearing this number from J Crew.

Today we're looking at a great and bold trend for fall, printed pants! Denim, silk, you name it, print up those legs!

These will adorable with some slim penny loafers and a button down shirt.

A fantastic geometric print that its perfect to mix with a sweater of tiered tee.

Ann Taylor, Static Print Cropped Pants, $78
What I like about these pants is they're not skin tight. You can pair these with a silk tie blouse for work.

Printed cords! Are you kidding me? How sassy are these?

Printed bottoms are certainly a statement piece. Especially living in DC when color blocking still makes some people do a double take. Try these with a solid top, and mix in some flats.

P Squared

Yesterday was S cubed, today is P squared: printed peplum. We ALL know peplum is huge right now, for just about everything, jackets, skirts, dresses and tops. Today I want to look at some printed peplum tops.

Nordstrom, Print Stretch Silk Blouse, $81
A pretty dot print that is perfect for 9-5.

A cheeky little print with a great peachy color.

Modcloth, Rosette for Life Top, $39
Leave it to Modcloth to make a beautiful sheer tie blouse in peplum.

Dorothy Perkins, Ivory Spotty Peplum Top, $39
I'm a sucker for dots, and the darting on this shirt is just adorable.

You can do peplum so many ways, neon, color block, solid, you name it. How about a print with your peplum?

Printed Pumps

Happy humpday lovebugs,
Today I want to get a little wild and look at some printed platforms. Animal prints, graphic prints and more all in a great heel.

You all know I'm pretty conservative when it comes to office wear but you know what? Rock these suckers with a pencil skirt!

Forever 21, Zebra Platform Pumps, $26
When I look at these heels the song "I'm sexy and I know it" is playing in my head.

Nine West, Rocha, $39
I LOVE all of the colors in this shoe! Perfect for skinny jeans.

Macy's, Tumble platform pumps, $41
A beautiful floral with a great peep toe.

Patterned pumps are a great way to add color to an outfit and make sure everyone you see says, 'nice shoes!'

Busy Bottom

Happy holiday week lovebugs,
I hope you get Wednesday off to celebrate the Fourth of July and maybe even take a couple of days off after! Today we're looking at printed bottoms. They're fun, graphic and easy to pair a sold tee or sheer top with.

A well made short that has structure and a great sized print.

I'd pair this with a hot pink blazer and some nude sandal pumps!

Neiman Marcus, Keke Floral print shorts, $79
I love these watercolor shorts, a beautiful mix of colors and the gathered waist is unexpected.

These are adorable. The ankle length makes them a bit dressier but you can always pair this with a chambray button down.

Are you sporting some printed bottoms this summer or stocking up on solids? I think these prints are a great way to add some pattern to your wardrobe.

Fly Away With Me

Graphic prints are huge this season, and I'm loving the animal graphic print because it's unique and fun for the warmer months. Today we're looking at birds. Bird prints and bird patterns.

A great little dress with a cap sleeve. This may need a skinny belt around the waist.

Modcloth, Wing it on dress, $69
A great halter, and a great large print. This dress has a defined waistline which makes it perfect for almost any body type.

Topshop, Bird Cross Back Cami, $52
This print is adorable, and the gold buttons add just the right amount of bling.

Forever 21, Ditsy Bird Skirt, $19
I love the pleats in this mini, I'd add a white blazer and some nude sandals.

So are you feeling flighty? Try some of these fun graphic prints this summer.

Waves

Let's continue the print trend I seem to be hooked on this week and look at a specific pattern: waves.

Forever 21, Wave Striped Sweater, $22
This is a great dual season sweater; wear as is in the summer and when it gets cold layer under a crisp white button down shirt.

Modcloth, Weave 'em Breathless, $69
I think this is the definition of 'va, va, boom'.

The light wave of these bangles are quite light and airy, great for layering.

Vertical waves. How fresh!

This is a very specific pattern but one that is so different than your average stripe, don't you think?

Graphic Prints

Hey lovebugs,
On Monday we looked at romantic prints but today we're going a little bit bolder and trying out some graphic prints. Bigger, brighter and definitely attracting more attention.

I really like how this print weaves and wraps your shape, very fitted.

Anthropologie, Mitte Loop, $68
The busyness of this print really meshes with the color pairings.

Modcloth, Burst of Light Dress, $48
I love this piece because it's all you need. You can throw this on a pair of heels and just walk out the door.

Oversized graphic, mod and generally fabulous.

There is something so punchy and fun about a great graphic print. It's a great pop to mix into your day to day wear.

Romantic Prints

Hey lovebugs,
Happy Monday. I hope you had a great weekend. Today I thought we'd dip into a little bit of V-day mentality and look at romantic prints. These prints are softer in illustration and the entire garment gives off a more weightless feeling.

The blurry dot pattern of this dress isn't busy at all and the texture of the dress with it's ribbon waist and tiered skirt is so flowy.

This print reminds me of a watercolor and the almost tuxedo shirt pleating is a great twist.

Would you look at this beauty? It is the definition of romantic. Beautiful print, light colors, great neckline and a defined waist.

Forever 21, Pleated Garden Skirt, $16
Are you picturing this on a warm Saturday afternoon with some fantastic espadrilles? No? Just me? Ok then.

Romantic prints don't have to be super girly and they certainly aren't sexy. This print has it's own cool confidence and it takes a certain type of woman to pull it off.
