Dress for Success

We're continuing my travel/work trip themed posts and looking at dresses. I prefer wearing dresses when on a work trip because they take up less room in my suitcase and it makes accessorizing or layering a lot easier.

A beautiful patterned dress that you can ball up in your suitcase and it won't wrinkle.

Kate Middleton would be so proud of you in this dress. Just a lovely shade of red for fall.

Dorothy Perkins, Black and Ivory Skater Dress, $49
Simple and beautiful on any body type, this dress is ready to go from day to night.

This can be worn alone or with a navy blazer. Easy, bright, professional.

A good work dress is an item you should be able to wear to interviews, big meetings, and general dressier professional occasions. Bonus points if you can layer a crewneck sweater on top and wear it as a skirt.

Seeing Double

Hey there lovebugs,
Happy Monday to you! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I sure did. Spent it with my best friend from high school. Can't top that.

Today I wanted to look at a print that I'm slowly warming up to. The mirror print. It's exactly what it sounds like, a print that is flipped on the other side of the garment. You can find the print on dresses, tops, skirts, even bathing suits.

Piperlime, Sabine Folk Print Shift, $79
This dress is absolutely perfect for transitioning into fall. I love pairing the booties with this or adding a motorcycle jacket.

Modcloth, Reflecting Cool Top, $29
Again, a great layering piece. You can wear it with shorts now and then tuck it into a pencil skirt for work.

I love the mix of pretty pinks with the harsher black.

Not many sizes left with this one, but what a great mini. Wear it now with lace up heels and later with patterned tights.

The mirror print is a great eye catching style that works all year round. You can find it in any mix of colors while style staying in budget.

Maximum Sleeves

We all know and love maxis, they're comfy, versatile and they've been a huge trend this summer. So how do we fall-ify them? Simple, just change the material to something a little heavier and add some sleeves. Let your accessories do the rest.

A peek a boo leg slit is the perfect surprise to this simple sweater dress.

Old Navy, Belted Jersey Maxi, $25
The dolman sleeves dress up this otherwise simple dress. There is so much you can do to accessorize: jewelry, denim jacket, switch out the belt, the list goes on.

This scoop neck is a great contrast to the horizontal stripes. I'm liking the braided belt as well.

Nordstrom, Ruched Maxi Dress, $88
A beautiful emerald color makes this dress look like a tall drink of water.

Maxis aren't going anywhere with the weather changing, change up the layers and the accessories and you keep the look.

All Together Now

We haven't looked at rings in a long time. And how about something fun, something blingy, something out of the norm. A cluster ring. A cluster ring is a mutli-stone, multi-fabulous accessory that you can dress up or down.

What did I tell you about the multi-fabulous? Hello gorgeous.

The rose colors in this ring are so beautiful.

This is like a piece of art! A little art deco, a little glam. A lot fabulous.

Piperlime, Pim + Larkin Bauble Ring, $20
This is such a happy ring. It is perfect for bf jeans or LBD.

There are lots of ways to get the multi-stone look. You can do the stackable ring option, the big 'ol cocktail ring or the cluster ring!

Details, Party of One?

Today we're looking at a very specific detail that is totally affordable: jacquard. Jacquard is a fabric of intricate variegated weave or pattern and it comes in every price point imaginable, let's look at some in ours.

Holy moly fabulous. Would you look at this wide waistband, metallic print with pin tuck pleating skirt.  For...wait for it.... $29. Just yes.

It is rare that I post anything that costs $99. This is absolutely worthy of the price. Just a stunning dress with incredible details and a lovely fit.

A great sale price for this diamond version of jacquard.

Simple, great color and easy to dress up or down.

Jacquard is a great details that adds some interest to your standard cotton, silk, or linen. Mix it in with dresses, tops or bottoms this summer.

A Wedge of Lemon Please

Happy almost Friday!!! We're so close, and today we're finishing up the 2013 Pantone Spring week with another bright color. Lemon Zest. I just love this sunny hue because it isn't a pastel yellow, it's got a buttery quality to it.

Pim and Larkin, The Brigid Skirt, $27
You guys, ready-to-wear for work under $30. This is the perfect pencil for spring or paired with patterned tights right now.

Nothing mid blowing about this sweater, but in my opinion, a solid cable knit crewneck is critical in any wardrobe. It can pull together any outfit or you can carry it along instead of a jacket.

BaubleBar, Lemon Citrus Twist Cuff, $28
Simple. Fun. And great for an arm party.

How about this for work or play? Layer an oxford under it or maybe a collar necklace. I just love the color.

Lemon zest is such a punchy color. I think it's perfect for any time of year, even maybe on your nails!
