Faux Real

Hello from the inside lovebugs,
I must have Netflixed 1,000 times. Here in DC we have two feet of snow and while it's awesome, it's also cold. So today I thought we would warm things up with some faux fur/shearling outerwear that puts my utility puffer coat to shame.

The look of true shearling but without the price. I really love the soft leather and asymmetrical zipper.

Amazon, Jessica Simpson Wool Anorak, $220 $56
Originally $220, this jacket is a steal! Heavy wool but you can define a great waistline with the drawstrings.

Look at this slimming quilting seam along the torso. A beautiful winter white.

Modcloth, Toasty Transit Coat, $89
Who doesn't love a great toggle coat? This one has lovely details with patch pockets and a full zipper.

So stay warm and stylish this week with whatever you have. This snow isn't melting any time soon so why not stand out with your outerwear?

Wrapped in Warmth

It's real cold out there. I feel like winter just waltzed in here fashionably late and set up shop when we were doing just fine in our layers and hats. What can you do? I'll tell you what, wrap up. The wrap coat is chic and breezy and you can add you layers underneath, because if you're not sporting some long underwear right now, well, I feel sorry for you.

Last Call Neiman Marcus, Raison D'etre Cape Sleeve Wrap Trench Coat, $74
Starting with this beauty. The beautiful cape sleeves, the arched hem, everything about this coat is going to work for you.

Calvin Klein, Belted Wool Blend Wrap Coat, $99
This coat was originally $400. That's right. Go, buy, now.

How about a chic winter white option? I love the pop of the black belt it will your figure great definition.

Forever 21, Belted Wrap Coat, $37
This coat is a lightweight option but great for layering a chunk turtleneck underneath. It also makes for a great spring transition coat.

The wrap coat is very casual but effortless in a Olivia Pope sort of way. I love the large cape details or kimono sleeves, it offers some personality to outerwear.

Call Me Cozy

Let's talk cozy. Let's get snuggly with our outerwear. I'm talking about the sweater coat. It's a simple and lovely way to stay warm while looking chic.

Piperlime, JOA Check Sweater Coat, $89
I love this coat. It makes a statement and the black piping along the hem is a great detail.

As F21 states: its a cozy yet functional way to do outerwear.

Shoptiques, Damask Sweater Coat, $98
A dressier look and it is perfect for an LBD. Leave it open or add a wide belt.

Shoptiques, BDG Hooded Sweater Coat, $70
How winter wonderful is this cream? I love it with a longer necklace and maybe a marsala colored tank.

What do you think about the sweater coat? Cozy, comfortable, and casual at its best.

Superhero Status

Let's talk capes. I think this outerwear trend is great for the holidays. Throw it on, travel with it, so easy and so versatile no matter what you're wearing.

Forever 21, Hooded Plaid Cape, $54
A simple and quiet plaid that is perfect for a cool afternoon date.

Topshop, Checked Cape, $52
What says fall better than navy and hunter green?

What did I tell you? It goes with anything and everything.

Urban Outfitters, Pattern Border Open Poncho, $79 [sold out! similar]
I'm so glad toggles are back. I love the casual feel of this warm accessory.

So capes. Thoughts? I think its a great way to layer when you have the opportunity to not wear your eskimo suit. Take advantage!

Vesting Ceremony

Let's talk fall outerwear. It can be difficult to judge whether to go with the trench, the denim jacket, or something entirely different: the vest. Today we're looking at the ultra-versatile puffer or quilted vest and it's a fantastic investment for fall.

JCrew Factory, Quilted Puffer Vest, $98
I really love this oatmeal color, it's a perfect base for a colorful cotton scarf.

Old Navy, Quilted Zip-front Vests, $34
The truly classic forest green. It's equestrian in color and style and so chic with flat brown boots.

This pattern is adorable and a statement for outerwear.

LandsEnd, Women's Down Vest, $59
How great is this pattern with chambray? And you know LandsEnd is quality when it comes to outerwear.

Before you grab the cotton coat or the trench, give the vest a try. It's easily layered and easily packed for weekend trips.

Belting an Hourglass

Well, here we are, back to work. What a bummer. But, at least its a short week right? Today and tomorrow we're going to look at some cold weather items. Today we're looking at belted coats because you don't have to look like a sack when you get all bundled up. Add a belt to add some curve to your warmth.

Macy's, Steve Madden Funnel Neck Belted Flared Coat, $99
This beautiful tweed is perfect for work of play. I love the skirt like hem on the bottom as well.

Nordstrom, Kristen Blake Belted Coat with Faux Fur Trim, $99
I love this utility coat with the faux leather detailing, and the hood is removable!

Modcloth, Euro Es-Cape Coat, $95
Hello stunner! I love this cape because it has a more structured look to it vs a poncho.

Dillard's Anne Klein Colorblock Belted Coat, $89
Personally, I'd pop the collar on this bad boy and add a beautiful cream scarf.

Adding a belt to a coat instantly adds an hourglass figure. And if you want, pull out the belt that comes with and add a slim belt of your own! I'd recommend a pop of neon or sparkle.
