Partying with Palms

This weekend, I am heading to Florida for a quick birthday trip. A little sun and baseball. That got me inspired to look at some warm weather prints, which is why we're looking at palm leaves today. They're fun, graphic, and come in all colors and styles.

Monochrome chic that I'd add a pop of neon in the form of earrings to really make it stand out.

Is it maxi season yet? Fine, I'll wait, but I'm adding this one to my rotation.

A great dress for evening because it's breezy but the long sleeves make it easy to go from day to night.

Saks Off Fifth, Kensie Palm Print Top, $24
I'm loving this top with some bf jeans and espadrilles.

Sure we may be layering up for a few more weeks, but I'm looking forward to my trip to some warm temps this weekend!

Play the Accordion

Earlier this month we looked at some great printed maxi skirts. They are playful, elegant, and versatile for summer into fall. Today I thought we would look at some great pleated maxi dresses that scream summer but transition well to fall with the right jean jacket or cardi.

The fiancé and I have a 'no spend August' thing going on this month. If we didn't...this would already by in my closet. I love the contrasting colors, trim, and lines!

The price on this is unbeatable. Throw on some of yesterday's beaded earrings and you are ready to go!

Have a warm weather fall wedding to attend? This is your go to dress.

Warm night, sunset party/date/wedding? Yes.

Maxi accordion pleats are one of my favorite styles for warm weather. I think they are easily dressed up or down with minimal effort. Play with colors, patterns, or solids to really have some fun.

Maximum Cuts

I love maxis. I really do. They are no fuss, easily packable, and they are throw on and go. This summer you've seen printed maxis, dressy maxis, how about cutout maxis? A strategically placed cutout takes these maxis to the next level.

I'm starting with my favorite. How beautiful is this dress? I love the colors, the material, and the fact that it is machine washable.

Missguided, Crepe Bralet Maxi Dress, $90
Ready for date night, ready for the vineyard, ready for anything. Gorgeous.

This is a great vacation dress. The print is playful and bright and I love the high neckline.

A beautiful halter option that I think would be perfect for a Fourth of July party. Dress it down for daytime with flat sandals (see Monday's post) and dress it up with a drop earring and heels.

When it's maxi season you need any excuse to add just one more to your closet. I love the cutout maxi because it's not overly sexy and it's perfect for summer.

Queen of the Empire

Let's talk ridiculously flattering shapes. I'm talking about my go to, your favorite and mine, the empire waist. It's universally forgiving and it's my favorite cut for a dress. Because it's summer aka maxi season let's look at empire cut maxi dresses.

I don't often post pieces close to $100 but when I do I like to give an explanation. This dress is worth every single penny. All over saturated cornflower blue with a stunning neckline. This is your go to summer dress. Add a jeweled belt, try chandelier earrings, or throw on a jean jacket and go.

Polka dot and floral? Count me in.

Last week we looked at the Milly for Kohl's line and you guys went wild. This maxi still works and it comes in four colors.

Ok, real talk, summer means sweat-city. I love Old Navy for cotton dresses that I don't feel about living in because I toss them in the wash.

The empire waist is a staple in my closet and that includes these maxi dresses. The cut makes the torso look long and lean. Solid or print, it's a win.

Don't Max Out My Card

Hey there lovebugs,
At this point in life, the question is who doesn't own a maxi? The maxi dress is the perfect go to for the warmer months. I for one, was late on the trend but now I have a handful in my closet and couldn't be happier about it. Today let's take a look at some maxis under $50. That's right, maxi dress, mini price.

Macy's, Bar III Printed Maxi, $49
A beautiful geometric all over print that is breezy and boho.

A beautiful sunny print with an empire waist and sweetheart neckline. The dress screams summer.

Old Navy, Women's Tulip Hem Maxi, $39
This maxi offers the ultimate canvas to do whatever you want with it. Add some big statement earrings or a long tassel belt, or contrast the pink with an unexpected colored sandal.

JCPenny, Stripe Tank Maxi Dress, $34
Staying on the black and white trend with this option. It has an understated elastic waist to help define the hourglass.

Maxi dresses do not need to blow your budget. Look for machine washable fabrics and colors and patterns that you can add your own flair to.

Maximum Sleeves

We all know and love maxis, they're comfy, versatile and they've been a huge trend this summer. So how do we fall-ify them? Simple, just change the material to something a little heavier and add some sleeves. Let your accessories do the rest.

A peek a boo leg slit is the perfect surprise to this simple sweater dress.

Old Navy, Belted Jersey Maxi, $25
The dolman sleeves dress up this otherwise simple dress. There is so much you can do to accessorize: jewelry, denim jacket, switch out the belt, the list goes on.

This scoop neck is a great contrast to the horizontal stripes. I'm liking the braided belt as well.

Nordstrom, Ruched Maxi Dress, $88
A beautiful emerald color makes this dress look like a tall drink of water.

Maxis aren't going anywhere with the weather changing, change up the layers and the accessories and you keep the look.

Hot and Unbalanced

And I'm not just talking about myself! Today, we're looking at one shoulder maxi dresses; I love maxis, and we looked at some maxi skirts last week, but today we're taking the maxi dress and cutting off a shoulder.

Willow & Clay, Zig Zag Belted Maxi Dress, $84
This flirty and fun maxi is perfect for day or night with the appropriate shoes.

Hive & Honey, Maxi Shirred Dress, $49
This also comes in navy. I think either color is the perfect neutral canvas to add some big and colorful jewelry.

Tinley Road, One Shoulder Maxi, $29
This is a little bridesmaid worthy, but also lovely for an outdoor dressy wedding.

KAS New York, Sue Bead-Neck Maxi, $98
Want to feel like a Grecian goddess? Throw this on and be ready to turn heads.

I love the idea of a dramatic neckline created by a one shoulder dress. These beauties really are a tall glass of water.
