Spring into Action

Happy Monday lovebugs,
I hope you had a great weekend. The weather in DC is really feeling spring-like and I think it might stick. We're talking 70s and sunshine, perfect for skirts and denim jackets. So let's look at some April and May friendly skirts that make it easy to put away your sweaters and embrace the sun!

This skirt screams spring. I love it because you can dress it up for work with a blazer or dress it down with a tee.

Joe Fresh, Tulip Hem Skirt, $34
I really love this drawstring waist mixed with a dressier fabric and hem.

Lavender with scallops. What else does a girl need? Oh a sale price. Done.

Madewell, Ruffle Wrap Midi Skirt, $98
Floral and feminine.

Before we get to blistering temps this summer, let's enjoy this beautiful weather and some springy skirts that show off our legs!

Bell of the Ball

Last month we looked at some pretty fantastic bell sleeve tops. Today let's look at some dress options.  I love these sleeves because they have a bit of drama to them without going crazy.

Hello LWD. You will do just fine.

How about a short sleeve option? I love this simple shift.

Hello wedding season. This is your dress.

You know I'm a sucker for polka dots. Match it with a ruffle bell sleeve? Sold.

A beautiful detail like the bell sleeve is fantastic because it doesn't need to match anything. It's not a pattern or solid you need to compliment, it's an extra that has personality.

Mar-a-Cargo

It's that time of year when the light jacket is a must have. The wool has been put away but you still need something in the early mornings and early evenings. I really love the cargo jacket this season because it's got an effortless feel that even the jean jacket can't match.

Madewell, League Cargo Jacket, $69
A feminine military jacket that looks great with a silk scarf.

A lightweight coat with a zipper and button detail.

Old Navy, Twill Field Jacket, $38
I love this jacket. The stand up collar, the scrunched sleeve hem, simple.

Button back sleeves, a punchy spice color, what more do you need?

A lightweight jacket for spring comes in so many shapes and styles. I like the cargo jacket for it's simplicity and comfort.

Swinging Good Time

Let's play with tassels today. Swingy, eye-catching, and fun earrings that make a statement. But, I'm putting another layer to this awesomeness - all of these picks are under $40.

I love the ombre blue mixed with the jewel stud!

Nordstrom, Madewell Tassel Earring, $28
Beautiful Aztec inspired metal with a pop of turquoise to finish.

BaubleBar, PiƱata Tassel Drops, $36
These earrings come in a dozen colors, but I'm partial to the monochrome because they go with everything.

Sole Society, Stone Tassel Earring, $36
A beautiful pop of coral perfect to match with oranges and yellows.

Tassels are great accessories because they have movement. Swingy, playful, and just fun to wear.

Fall In Line with Trends

It's March 1, which means spring is around the corner. One spring trend I really love this year is the military jacket. It's versatile and easy to layer with just about any style. Throw it on with any casual look for an extra bit of flair.

Banana Republic, Full Sleeve Jacket, $82
Bet you didn't see this feminine take on the military jacket coming. Love this.

Love the idea of pairing this jacket with a dress. Such a great contrast.

Great snap and zipper details, but can we talk about the lace up sides?

How about some embroidered detail? Beautiful.

Military jackets are a great trend for spring. Much different then a floral or eyelet for the warmer weather.

Fringe Benefits

Yesterday we talked tassels, today I thought we would keep the style going with fringe. Not always my favorite trend, but I like an understated fringe that isn't so boho festival chic. That's why I like fringe that is on a cropped jacket or cardigan.

A great shape with an eye-catching print.

The black label contrast really makes this cardigan stand out. I also love the bracelet bell sleeves.

Going a little western but with a structured silhouette.

The best option for layering. And the cotton is marled so it's crazy soft.

While fringe isn't always my style, a structured and tasteful amount can be something different for my everyday look.

Vacation Ti Amo

My good friend is going to the Amalfi Coast on vacation. I know, hate away. So unfair and so jealous. But also a bit inspiring when it comes to fashion. I thought I would live vicariously through her with some Mediterranean feeling pieces.

Ann Taylor, Amalfi Button Skirt, $64
Getaway ready with a beautiful sleeveless blouse. Perfect for a late night dinner.

Madewell, Positano Ti Amo Tee, $45
Not your average tee. The graphic is actually embroidered. So special and different.

Obsessed with this color and style. Casual but eye catching.

Athleta, Ibiza Mesh Shopper, $72 $24
Major sale on this effortless beach bag. Also comes in navy or brown.

Whether your jet setting in the near future or just have some wanderlust, these Mediterranean inspired pieces are just perfect.

Short Stack

Happy Monday lovebugs,
It's a short week for me because I'd headed to New Hampshire midweek to join my family on vacation. I'm trying to contain my excitement and generally what helps is something shiny. So today we're looking at ring sets. They are delicate but bold in the simplest way.

Michael Kors, Pave Rose Gold Tone Ring, $75
This is almost scientific or astronomy-esque in design.

Rebecca Minkoff, Pearl Wrap Ring, $58
Artsy, isn't it? This is a date night accessory.

Like a said before, delicate but eye catching.

BaubleBar, Whimsy Ring Set, $58
Girly colors meet rocker set. I picture Demi Lovato rocking out in these.

Such a simple addition to your accessory game that makes a big impact. Pick your metal color, bling, and have some fun!

Year Round Classic

This week we looked at two things that I want to combine today. A classic that you can wear all yearlong. The chambray button down. It's simple, versatile, and perfect for the dead of winter with a crewneck sweater or a hot summer night with white shorts and heels.

Simple and so chic. Wear it with patterned shorts in July and button it up with a statement necklace in October.

Net A Porter, Madewell Cotton Chambray Shirt, $70
Perfect light wash that is unbelievably soft. A lived in shirt.

I love this look. Wool skirt, tights, and chambray. Effortless.

I like this shirt because the texture has almost a linen look to it. Something less rugged.

Chambray is simple and easy to wear with pretty much anything in your closet. Seriously. Pair it with jeans, shorts, printed pencils, under a cotton dress. You name it. It's your do it all, four season top.

You Can Touch This

Let's talk texture. It's just about sweater weather and I love nothing more than a knit that gives a little something extra. A sweater that isn't just crewneck or cardigan, it's got some feeling, something that gives a little oomph. These sweaters are under budget and lovely to the touch.

I love a good Madewell sale and this sweater doesn't disappoint. Choose from six other colors but I love this sandy gold.

This sweater is crazy soft. The oversized fit and cowl neck just adds to the comfort level.

JCrew Factory, Textured Curved Hem Sweater, $39
Who doesn't need a beautiful dark green sweater in their closet? Right.

Old Navy, Textured Stitch Sweater, $34
A simple navy sweater is great for layering. This piece also has tunic-like side slits for a little something extra.

We will talk about a lot of sweaters this season, but starting things out with texture is just the way to kick things off.
