Lucky Charms

One of the (many) things I've admired about my sister is her love of a very specific piece of jewelry - her charm bracelet. She has taken such care and such love with this bracelet and only adds to it on very special occasions.

If you're like her, I salute your patience and persistence with this piece. If you're not, let me show you some fabulous charm bracelets that are ready to wear.

Amazon, Lucky Brand Owl Charm Bracelet, $23
A little boho, and very understated. Perfect for layering or to wear on its own.

Preppy, colorful, and ready for warm weather.

Ann Taylor, Star Charm Bracelet, $49
I think this is my favorite of the bunch because of the diversity of the charms.

Something a bit daintier, but still eye catching.

So if you're looking for a ready to wear charm bracelet - look for something that says you. Look for a charm that you love like an owl, ladybug, moon, you name it, and off you go.

Laid Back in Linen

One of my favorite fabrics for summer is linen. It is breathable and light - so easy for some of the hottest days of the year. Here are some fantastic shirt options that are casual and cool.

Lucky Brand, Stripe Split Back Shirt, $79
How about this beauty? Check out the back!!

Nordstrom, JCrew Metallic Linen Tee, $49
A great upgrade for a tee.

Dress this up or down with the right accessories.

Mango, Frayed Linen Shirt, $59
A relaxed button down in a blush hue.

Relaxed and laid back for summer. Linen all day!

Falling for Plaid

It may be a bit early to talk plaid but when you mix it with a lighter fabric, you're good. That's why we're looking at silk plaid. It's got the masculine print mixed with the ladylike medium of silk.

65% off. I repeat, Equipment blouse 65% off.

I love these pants. A high fashion designer making a casual yet professional pant. These are going to look great with heels.

Side note to this great top. How amazing is this model's hair?

This scarf is going to look fantastic with your cable knit sweaters or waffle knit thermal tees.

Yes plaid is traditionally a winter print, but this isn't wool plaid or fleece plaid, this is silk plaid and it's made for fall. Still not convinced? Lighten it up with some baubles or a jean jacket.

All Tied Up

It's the second day of summer, I'm assuming your toes are looking painted and pretty? Ok good, because I need show you these shoes. Lace up gladiator sandals. Gladiators aren't anything new, and for me, they're quite the statement shoe. Like, whoa girl that's a lot of shoe, statement. These are a bit softer, easier to pair with items already in your closet.

Right?! These remind me of this month's pom post but next level.

This is your new neutral sandal. Subtle gold that goes with jeans, shorts, patterns, chambray, you name it.

These sandals are vacation ready. Like bring me something fruity cabana boy shoes.

Rose gold, anyone? Yeah, I thought so.

These fun sandals are a little less intimidating than a full blown gladiator shoe and they are more versatile for your summer shoe game.

Beggars Can't Be Choosers

Happy Monday lovebugs,
I hope you had a wonderful weekend. The weather in DC was fantastic and it is really starting to feel like summer. Today's topic is a truly summer top - the peasant top is perfect for warm summer days because of it's loose and breezy fit. This style of top comes in so many colors and styles, I'm fond of the embroidered ones with that extra piece of detail.

Lord & Taylor, Miss Selfridge Peasant Top, $52
This top says summer. Simple with pops of color.

A big scoop neck is casual and dramatic.

Great color combination and I love that even with a busy pattern, you can still wear a necklace.

Lord & Taylor, Lucky Brand Embroidered Peasant Top, $32
How about a patterned top? What a great way to play with prints.

Peasant tops have come a long way from your hippie Aunt's closet. I think the embroidered options really stand out from the rest.

Howdy Bootie

Last week we looked at some boots with buckles, sticking with the boot topic, let's go western. A little cowboy infused into our boot game. Something with sass, personality, and potential to jump on a horse at a moments notice (hey a girl can dream).

Real leather, which means these babies are just going to get softer every time you wear them.

American Eagle, Side Zip Western Bootie, $59
Here's a sturdy, yet fashionable boot that is going to work with jeans or cords.

I love an olive shoe because they are so versatile.

Casual western with a 70s flair. Amazing.

It's bootie season so why not grab something that has some spunk? Try a western feel and mix it with a cable knit or moto jacket.

Leaf Duty

You know how the palm frond print has been popular this summer? Don't get me wrong, I love a fun print, but for those of us who aren't in a tropical environment, sometimes it comes off a bit weird. So today I am offering an alternative that is just as natural but a little less pina colada. The leaf print.

Lucky Brand, Tossed Lead Maxi Dress, $55
A cool jersey material is perfect to round out your summer shopping bag.

Faux wrap makes quite a statement in a meeting. I love the short sleeve style so you can wear it well into fall with a cardigan.

A stunning print with an illusion neckline. You don't see a lot of those any more.

How much fun is this dress? The tiered hem, the scrunched halter, I love it with statement earrings and a denim jacket for fall.

While some of you may be enjoying breezy palm trees, not all of us have that luxury. I like the leaf print for something natural and fun.

Espadrille to Thrill

It's summertime which means it's espadrille time. Even us city girls can pretend we're on vacation with these sandals. I love the beachy feel of these shoes and with the right dress, completely work appropriate.

Oh hi, I'll have a Tom Collins and yes, this white dress is machine washable!

Fourth of July may be over, but these wedges are ready for summer.

A pop of red will look great with your summer pedicure.

How about a little less cotton and a little more leather?

I love espadrilles for summer for a casual, cool look. Pair them with a sundress, jeans, or shorts! They go with everything.

That Web You Weave

Let's talk sandals. It's pedicure time. Get those toes painted and looking good because it's time to let them breathe in sandals. Today's sandal pick is a woven one in monochrome. A very simple shoe that will be very versatile in your closet. I like the woven look because it's casual and easy.

Yes, that Billabong. Stay with me. How Anthro are these sandals? Love the price point.

You know the brand, you love the comfort, this sandal delivers all of that and more.

Forever 21, Faux Leather Woven Sandals, $17
A well-traveled pattern makes these sandals perfect for a fun weekend.

Sole Society, Lucky Brand Baheeti, $58
Simple, chic, denim-ready. That's about all you need to know.

Nothing too groundbreaking about this trend and that's why I love it. It's timeless and perfect for weekends or vacation.

Shirt the Rules

Happy Monday lovebugs,
Now that the weather is attempting to cooperate, I thought we would take our first spring plunge into dresses. Specifically, the shirt dress. This style is casual but still work appropriate, it's a nice transition item from spring to summer.

How great is this long sleeve option? It's not screaming pastel spring and it's bootie ready.

Like I said, perfectly work appropriate and even a bit DvF-esque.

Watercolor anyone? This is a great Easter or spring special occasion dress. The masculine button down makes the floral not as feminine.

Boden, Casual Shirt Dress, $82
Now here is something you're probably used to seeing when you think shirt dress. I love this option in a dark chambray especially the way they've styled this with the contrasting shirt underneath.

The shirt dress is a great option when you're not quite ready to break out the sun dress but certainly ready to put away the chunky sweaters.
