Don't Sweat It

We've been talking spring looks all week so today I thought we would tone it down and get casual. A simple sweatshirt is anything but simple these days, but the way you can style them dresses up your old Champion sweatshirt. Let's take a look at this comfortable style.

Super soft terry in a washed mint. Perfect for spring.

Modcloth, Relax Thing on My Mind, $49 $29
Simple but not average. Great contrasting under shirt that I would pair with a long tassel necklace.

I really love this top. A heather gray stripe is casual and easy for a Saturday.

Forever 21, Joie De Vivre Hoodie, $22
A great hoodie with a kangaroo pocket and it's weirdly girly with this joie de vivre graphic.

Sometimes you need a comfy and stylish sweatshirt. Pair these for spring with shorts or bf jeans for a go to weekend look.

Winter White

I love a crisp and cozy white sweater in the cold weather. It can be layered or paired with colors of any sort.

I think I would live in this wrap cardi, it's so cozy and I could belt it too!

I would layer a sequin tank or a striped button down underneath this classic cardi.

Banana Republic, Textured Stripe Pullover, $69
This is a great sweater for transitioning through the seasons.

A little sparkle on this one, and I love the scoop neck.

How do you style your winter whites?

Capital Ken: Men's Scarves

Scarves can keep your man warm when you’re not around. Consider this versatile collection for holiday gift-giving.

Silk scarves aren’t just for the theatre or the opera. They not only add an element of je ne sais quoi, but they’re surprisingly warm. Treat your man to one!

Banana Republic, Two-tone rib-knit Scarf, $49.50
This is a great scarf for almost all occasions. It comes in two colors, and both go with everything!

L.L.Bean, Irish Cashmere Scarf, Tartan, $59.50
Every man needs a casual plaid scarf. The small tartan plaid isn’t overpowering, plus it’s cashmere!

Wrapped up in Warmth

Scarves are tough.  When you think about gift giving for a stranger or acquaintance what do you think? Scarf.  And as well you should; they're functional, warm, cozy, and usually reasonably priced.  But what about the scarf you pick out for yourself? That's right.  You time.

For me, a scarf is a very important accessory.  I don't like to collect scarves, I limit my closet to maybe 3 not including pashmenas.  So, it's tough to make the scarf cut in my house. When I find one I love, I wear it pretty much everyday.  Especially right now when it's colder than the North Pole with a leaking freezer.

LL Bean, lambswool scarf, $19.99
Ok bear with me, its not sequined, sparkley or bright colored but its warm, chic in a suburban class kind of way, its lambswool, AND its $19.99.

This beauty is just cozy-tastic.  I'm not much for the "infinity" scarf craze but this one does it with class

I just love these colors and for some reason I picture Jill GG wearing it with her Ugg clogs!

Nordstrom, Michael Kors Rugby Scarf, $78
I love chocolate anything, I love this sporty take on the scarf and the hardware is just beautiful.  And apparently it has pockets? Not sure where but I never say no to pockets!

Gap, Fair Isle pocket scarf, $29.50
If this doesn't say December I don't know what does!

Cashmere Pep Talk

On this rainy Tuesday it is difficult to get out of bed in the morning, and by difficult I mean I'd rather have a tooth pulled out by my co-worker's 3 year old daughter.  What helps me is positive thinking.  While that may sound campy stay with me- this morning's positive thinking was 'just think how cozy and wonderful it will feel to put cashmere on'.  So I did. Cashmere is the essence of elegance and sophistication.  It's expensive, but worthy.

Here are some of my favorite cashmere picks that hopefully will help you get out of bed on the next rainy day!

J Crew, turtleneck sweater, $99
I'm ALL about this color right now.  Perfect with pearls or a bauble necklace.

Talbots, Basket Stitch Sweater, $73
the best alternative to the sweatshirt- comfy central.

Banana Republic, Hooded Vest, $89
I think I'm finally understanding the vest trend, and while I don't love the layering here this vest looks like the perfect weekend accessory.

Cashmere for under $40??? Just buy this now. Please!

Cozy up with Fleece

Its a little chilly out there this morning right? Not enough for the winter pea coat but you certainly need more than a pashmina. And since it's Monday and no one (don't lie) wants to be out of bed right now what better jacket to put on this morning than a cozy fleece. Today's post is about affordable cozy fleeces. Now, I'm sure you can run out and buy the first Patagonia fleece you find, but here at TCB I don't have that kind of cash flow. So while labels are nice, sometimes being able to stay warm AND go grocery shopping with the leftover money is a plus. (sometimes. Kate Spade is another story)

LL Bean, Trail Model Fleece, $49
I've owned this fleece for 4 years and I'm wearing it today. It doesn't shrink, it's the perfect length and it isn't bulky. Love.

Lands End, Heavenly Fleece, $39.50
I like this shaggy type of fleece, reminds me of what the cool kids wore in high school.

North Face, Salathe Fleece, $79
If you really want a label here is a nice North Face for under 100.

Horny Toad, Saturday Jacket, $49
While I hate the name of this company I love the zipper hem detail and the inside of the sleeve color!
