Hoop Earrings Were Her Thing

Sometimes a statement earring can be daunting. Too big, too clingy, too many colors. And a simple hoop earring doesn't always do the trick. My advice, look for a circular drop earring that turns heads without being overwhelming.

See what I mean? Simple but statement maker.

Colorful without being stuffy preppy.

Something more monochrome but no shortage on the beauty.

Pretty fantastic combination of colors and textures.

Why wear hoops when you can wear something so much more fun?

Pumped Up for Polka Dots

It's Tuesday and I'm in love with polka dots, but just any polka dots, polka dots that make a statement. They say wow, I'm here and I look fantastic. Wide leg polka pants. Yep.

Effortless. Cropped mixed with palazzo.

Has getting dressed for work ever been more fun?

NY & Company, Polka Dot Print Palazzo Pant, $59
I mean come on, it just keeps getting better!

Had to throw in a jumpsuit. I just love this with a neon skinny belt!

So how about it? Wide leg pants that make a statement!

What A Colorful World

Remember when colorblock used to be THE thing? What happened? Did we give up? Well I'm not quite over it. Maybe we can tone it down from the major color combos of two years ago, but I am really loving these pieces.

Last Call Neiman Marcus, Colorblock Zip Pocket Sheath Dress, $89
Oh hello mod chic.

A beautiful cotton pullover that is great for the not quite warm weather we're having right now.

Originally $325. Get on this.

Ann Taylor, Colorblock Tie Blouse, $64
This blouse is so eye-catching. I love the color combination because you can pair it with so many options.

Who says colorblocking is over? I love mixing surprising colors together to make a really chic look.

Right to Bear Arms

Ok Friday, we're almost there. Friday eve and we're having some layering fun with a sleeveless coat. I love this look for spring because it can be loose or structure, suede or cotton, belted or open, so many options and so many styles.

Last Call Neiman Marcus, Line Sleeveless Trench Vest, $54
Classic trench style meets street style chic.

Talk about spring. I love this color!

A beautiful long blazer that exudes confidence.

One more from Last Call, such nice blend of military coat with sleeveless trench.

What do you think about this style? Love it for spring or leave it for a jean jacket?

Partying with Palms

This weekend, I am heading to Florida for a quick birthday trip. A little sun and baseball. That got me inspired to look at some warm weather prints, which is why we're looking at palm leaves today. They're fun, graphic, and come in all colors and styles.

Monochrome chic that I'd add a pop of neon in the form of earrings to really make it stand out.

Is it maxi season yet? Fine, I'll wait, but I'm adding this one to my rotation.

A great dress for evening because it's breezy but the long sleeves make it easy to go from day to night.

Saks Off Fifth, Kensie Palm Print Top, $24
I'm loving this top with some bf jeans and espadrilles.

Sure we may be layering up for a few more weeks, but I'm looking forward to my trip to some warm temps this weekend!

White Out

Winter white is always beautiful to wear this time of year. I really love it in cashmere or a sleek wool pant, but what about accessories? Today we are looking at some beautiful white drop earrings that are dressy and feminine.

Saks off Fifth, Funky Shape Drop Earrings, $14
These have got some movement. I love the multiple teardrops in different tiers and sizes.

Last Call Neiman Marcus, Lydell NYC Marquise Crystal Studs, $16
These are a little showgirly and I love them. Can't beat the price!

How about these beauties? A bit of an antique feel to them.

BaubleBar, Fatima Drops, $38
Gotta round it out with BaubleBar. They know statement earrings.

Winter white doesn't have to be for your wardrobe. Play with accessories that frost you!

Tell Me About It, Stud

Last month we looked at some really fantastic stud earring sets and in the past we've also looked at oversized stud earrings. Today let's go back to that and update the style: the statement stud earring. Flashy without weighing you down.

Amazon, Kate Spade Statement Studs, $68
What did I tell ya? A little pow but still classy.

Skip your Starbucks this week and get these instead. Think how lovely they'd look with a cozy sweater and a ponytail.

Last Call Neiman Marcus, Lydell NYC Crystal Cluster Stud, $25
Think how smashing these would look with a bold lip.

Club Monaco, Rada Star Earring, $98
Ok, maybe a little pricey but these are a real work of art. What a statement piece for any occasion.

Dress up those lobes with some fun statement studs! Hoops and drop earrings aren't going anywhere, so why not try something different?

Luxurious and Lovely

One of my favorite fabrics for winter is velvet. It's luxurious and cozy in all of the right ways. This luxe texture can be worn in so many ways. Today I'm rounding up some of my favorites.

Perfection. Come on. Twirl the night away.

Last Call Neiman Marcus, Burnout Velvet Floral Bodycon Dress, $71
A winter upgrade to your LBD.

Ann Taylor, Velvet Ankle Pants, $98
Oh Ann. So classic and chic.

A little more casual but still cool. Dress it up with a small silk scarf around your neck.

Velvet is a great material for these chilly days and nights. Mix it with patterns and colors for a real pop. It's going to work with windowpane, stripes, you name it.

Proportioned Poncho

When I say poncho, do you cringe? It's ok. Ponchos have improved. Drastically. They are a fantastic sweater or outwear piece the is chic and NOT poncho-y. Today we're looking at poncho sweaters which are great to pair with leggings or dress up with a drop earring.

Last Call Neiman Marcus, Sweet Romeo Cowl Neck Poncho, $88 $59
See? A lovely staple in a shade that goes with anything.

Ann Taylor, Extrafine Merino Wool Poncho, $129 $99
I can't even begin to tell you how soft this sweater is. It's like silk!

Macy's, Alfani Turtleneck Poncho, $59 $39
I love this color. It's so rich and perfect to pair with a jewel toned statement necklace.

Sole Society, Fringe Turtleneck Poncho, $74 $44
A beautiful limited edition sweater that is crazy cozy.

Still too roomy for you? Try adding a skinny belt at mid-waist to better define an hourglass shape!

Capturing My Attention

Call me crazy but I think cap toe is making a comeback. Of course there is the classic Chanel ballet flat.  But the modern cap toe is sleek and it's modern. If that doesn't sell you, it's a comfortable flat, how can you say no to that?

Last Call Neiman Marcus, Gretchen Pointed Toe Flat, $76
Let's just take a moment to breathe in these flats. Pair it with pearls and call it a day.

This shoe is Pink Ladies meets T Birds and that's fantastic.

Tommy Hilfiger, Pointed Cap Toe Flat, $54
Such a beautiful fall shoe. I love the mix of deep merlot and gray.

Quilted and a patent toe? Sign me up.

Playing with the cap toe trend is so much fun because you can pair a typically 'buttoned up' shoe with bf jeans or suede pants.
