In the Navy

Happy Monday lovebugs,
Today we are combining two of my favorite things: cheese and bacon. Kidding. Navy and stripes. Two classic styles that go beautifully together.

Half off right now. I love the turtleneck and the pockets. Pair it with booties.

The width of these stripes are fantastic. Gives it a sailor vibe.

Classic silhouette, great stripe, and this price! A peacoat will never go out of style.

How cozy does this sweater look? I'd dress it up for work with long pearls and for play I would add a contrasting oxford underneath.

Navy stripes are not just for the dog days of summer, I love this pattern and color for sweater weather because it's versatile and fun.

Big House Stripes

Who doesn't love a good stripe? It's such an easy print to mix and match with everything in your closet. A classic color makes it even more timeless and long lasting in your rotation. Today we are looking at some black and white striped turtlenecks that come in a variety of styles and materials so you can layer up or wear them into late winter.

An eye catching top that you can add a blazer to, wear with jeans, or a pencil skirt.

Saks Off Fifth, Mixed Stripe Turtleneck Top, $78 $29
Such a fun, casual top to wear with leggings and booties.

Simple, slim, dress it up with a long string of pearls or make it modern with a tassel bib.

I own this top and I love it. It's lightweight and easy to wear for work or play.

A simple top makes getting out the door so much easier. I like these classic striped tops because they allow you to play with pattern and color while still looking professional.

Fair Weather Isle

Just because the holidays are over doesn't mean you have to put away those holiday-ish prints and patterns. For instance, fair isle is a great holiday pattern that you can wear through the winter months instead of just in November and December. It's a busy print that usually uses some great colors, for that reason you can go lighter on the accessories and just throw on some jeans or a pencil skirt and go!

Lands End, Lofty Fair Isle Sweater, $59
This sweater needs a ski lodge. Since that's not happening I'm pairing it with a plaid button down with similar colors.

I dare you to tell me that the phrase 'thermal pants' doesn't excite you.

Old Navy, Fair Isle Sweater, $32
Talk about great colors. This sweater brings the punch with a great mix of the rainbow.

Comfy, cozy, perfect.

A great fair isle doesn't have to break the bank. Especially with the after Christmas sales on right now, it's your time to scoop up one of these at a great price!

Pretty in Plaid

It may be 60 or even 65 (!) degrees in mid-December but that doesn't we can't wear our favorite winter prints. I love tartan in December. It's a colorful plaid that truly says winter to me. It's a step above your average plaid that makes you smell gingerbread and hear jingle bells.

Originally $80, this classic accessory is totally worth picking up this holiday. I love the red ticks on the watch face for extra color.

Modcloth, Brooklyn Belle Skirt, $69
Oh hello ladylike perfection! I'm pairing this with a winter white sweater and drop earrings.

A great top to wear as is or for layering under a holiday sweater.

This is what we can festive elegance. Understated but hardly an LBD.

Stand out this December in a punchy tartan plaid. Try it with accessories, dresses, sweaters, you name it.

This Wine Has Great Legs

Last year we had a lot of variety in the jean category. We saw coated denim, quilted, washed, jegging, and more. This year I think we will be seeing a more colorful look. Deep greens, blues, and even reds. Today we're dipping our toes into the wine pool (best idea ever, right?) and looking at some deep merlot denim.

Talk about a steal. These jeans are the perfect shade of burgundy and I love the look with chambray.

American Eagle, Utility Legging Jean, $44
A great military/cargo pocket makes these perfect for a casual Saturday.

Saks off Fifth, Rag and Bone Skinny Jeans, $89
These designer jeans are 51% off. Such a great deal.

I used the backside picture for these jeans because I want to change your mind about Landsend. These jeans rule.

A deep burgundy jean is going to be the go to bottom in your closet. It is great with fall colors and it will transition beautifully to winter sweaters.

Black, White, and Chic All Over

Today's post idea comes from The Bf. Get excited. He is on the hunt for a statement suit and has inspired me to translate it for women's. He is testing a windowpane print for a suit, so I thought we would try it for us. We've looked at this style in the past but I really like it for cooler weather.

Nordstrom, NYDJ Jacquard Cardigan, $98
This cardi is stunning and you are going to get a ton of wear out of it. Pair it for work with a silk tie neck blouse or throw it on with distressed bf jeans for the weekend.

You need these pants. I'm obsessed with them. Straight leg fit, pair with stripes or solids, these pants do it all, including being machine washable.

You're going to need flannel this year. This top is crazy versatile. My coworker just purchased it and plans to wear it alone or underneath a sleeveless denim dress. So cute.

JCrew, Windowpane Scarf, $49
This is a wool linen blend which is just perfect for fall. Use it with yesterday's jean jackets.

A great windowpane print is so different than a plaid or a stripe, it has a clean and crisp look that is so easy to wear. One of  my favorite black and white trends.

April Showers Bring Anoraks

Happy hump day lovebugs,
We are getting there, but it's April which means rain. Not quite cold, not quite hot, just lukewarm weather with a side of showers. Enter your new best friend: the anorak. It's lightweight, packable, and it will keep you dry.

Here we have a beautiful spring jacket that is perfect for 45-65 degree weather.

Lord and Taylor, Knit Anorak Jacket, $35
Major sale on this item. I like the stand up collar and soft knit.

Hello poppy red! Oh I love this color for a jacket. It goes with everything from jeans to a pencil skirt.

Always a sucker for polka dots, this half zip option is casual and cool.

The anorak is the do it all outwear piece this month. It replaces the classic trench for a more relaxed look.

Casual Kicks

Sticking with shoes from yesterday, let's continue the trend and look at something warm and casual. The relaxed shoe/sneaker that is your go to for weekends from now until September.

The iconic print from Gary Malin just screams summer with the perfect summer shoe: Sperry.

I've been tracking these floral slip ons for some time. Now they're on sale, and it's time to purchase.

I really love this seashell color because I'd pair these with printed shorts or dress down a sundress.

Spring anyone? How adorable are these splatter paint sneakers?

Casual, comfy, and ready for spring. I am loving the sneakers this season.

Making Marl Out Of a Molehill

What is it about marled cotton that makes a piece of clothing so comfortable? I love a great marled sweater because it's soft, cozy, and textured. Today we're looking at some great marled options all under $50.

A chunky knit gives this sweater some weight but the open neckline makes it quite feminine.

A beautiful mix of black marl with an off center zipper. Kind of a cozy moto jacket.

This sweater has a sweatshirt fit to it. It's a throw on a go type top because you have texture in the pattern and accessories covered in jeweled neckline.

Oversized, drop shoulder, cowl neck, what isn't perfect about this sweater?

Marled cotton is a great way to add some contrast to your wardrobe without breaking the budget. These under $50 picks are easy to mix and match with work, play, and most importantly relaxing.
