Anything But Pencil Pusher

Pencil skirts have always been and will always be a staple in every woman's wardrobe. They come in black, navy, pink, houndstooth, but let's try something new, something unexpected. A patterned pencil.

This skirt is absolutely gorgeous. The geometric print mixed with bursts of color, and hello, the price.

A sweet mushroom print skirt that is just adorable for an office setting with a white tie silk blouse.

A fabulous almost watercolor canvas design for a skirt. You go Vera.

Are you kidding me? I'm beyond smitten with this skirt. You know who would wear this? Wait for it...Kate freaking Middleton. Go, go now and buy it.

I could wear a pencil skirt 9-5 everyday for the rest of eternity but I'm just loving the opportunity to mix in some sass. Embrace the pattern!

Not Your Gramma's Crochet

So often you hear crochet and think Gramma. But this season it's actually quite chic. Check out these pieces.

Urban Outfitters, Staring at the Stars Crochet Tank, $54
The underlay color just pops and the scalloped hemline is divine.

I'm not usually a poncho girl, but the tie waist really brings it all together for me.

I love this overlay, so simple and chic in a sexy way.

Free People, Crochet Crop Top, $72
I love this crop top with the scoop neck. Great color combinations too.

How do you style crochet?

Suede Colorblock Heels

Who doesn't need a pair of fabulous party heels? Colorblocking is a great way to make an entrance and these shoes, well they need no introduction.

Kohl's, Salas Platform Heels, $59
Sometimes a suede platform can feel clunky but the mix of colors here make it seem less weighed down.

OK I don't think I could walk in these, but worn appropriately, I would respect any woman who could. This heel is like a work of art!

Steve Madden, Cathi Heels, $89
Just so amazing. I can't even say.

Dolce Vita, Suede Colorblock Pumps, $89
If you ever wear these, you must tell your significant other "you're welcome" from me.

Are you in love like I am? These punchy heels are just perfect for the weekend.

Reader Request: Winter Shoes

Hey lovebugs! Today's post is a special request for my fabulous sister. She is looking for something warm and fashionable to wear this winter on her feet.

Urban Outfitters, BDG Hidden Wedge Hiker Boot, $89
These are fabulous. A great wedge makes this boot like a high heel.

This is so my sister. It's a little hipster with a little prep.

These are a cute shearling with a military look.

Sperry, Shearwater Booties, $98
I'm obsessed with these. They're so cool!

This was one of the harder requests I've gotten lately. It's hard to keep feet dry, warm and look sassy. What do you wear?

Ruffled Up!

You all know I have a sweet spot for all things ruffle, and today I found a more subtle way to incorporate it into your wardrobe.  A ruffle sleeve is a more discreet way to add some detail without feeling super-girly.

This top is perfect for summer.  I really like the variation of the stripe direction on the sleeve.

You know, I'm happy the Hills is over because that LC can really dress a woman.  I love this top! And it comes in four other colors.

A fun take on the crochet knit trend.  The tiered ruffle makes a statement.

Neiman Marcus, Ali Ro Flutter Sleeve Dress, $94
I want to wear this now with metallic heeled sandals and then in the fall for an evening out with black tights.

A ruffle sleeve is a little less in your face than an all over ruffle, but I think it adds a nice touch of femininity to any outfit.

Spin You Right Round

How about today we tackle a pattern that spins you right round? Circles! Fun, breezy, and super fun!

Such beautiful details in this top.  I would do a long gold necklace, something delicate.

I'm loving this blouse especially with that bow!  Great with skinny jeans and black heels.

I'm liking the multicolor circles.  The light blue background just pops.

Modcloth, Gild-ty pleasure, $90
I'm obsessed with gorgeous dress.  The pleating on the waist, the one shoulder, the classic colors.  Oh my word this dress.

So when I say circles, I mean circles, not polka dots, this is a sleeker look.  What do you think?

Baby you're a doll

One style that isn't going out anytime soon is the baby doll dress.  It is simple, girly, and always wearable.  One caution with this type of dress- because the top is so fitted, make sure to buy your correct size.  You don't want the girls looking suffocated.  Go up a size if needed and have the waist lined taken in.

Urban Outfitters, Sparkle and fade colorblock dress, $50
Color blocking with cobalt and teal is gorgeous.  Add the babydoll style and it's perfect for summer.

Steve Madden, Rain drop scoopneck dress, $41
I like the thicker straps on this dress and the pleated skirt.  But please turn around and make sure you're now giving a free show before buying this dress!

The chiffon is so airy on this piece.  A true sweetheart neckline is very feminine as well.

There is nothing jaw dropping about this dress but for me, it's the perfect Saturday throw on.  Capped sleeves, scoop neck, and I can add whatever jewelry and shoes I want to it.

I like the babydoll dress because its easy and usually doesn't need a lot of extra primping.  What do you think?

Staple Purchase: Trench

You guys,
I'm in the midst of a staple purchase.  What does that mean? It means I'm about to buy something that I will spend a little extra on because I will use it frequently and hopefully for years to come.  Much like the wallet post from yesterday.

Are you so excited to hear what I'm going to purchase? I know, I am too.  I am buying a Spring trench/rain coat/ bright color or patterned light jacket.  So many things this purchase needs to accomplish!  I've narrowed it down to a few choices.  Let me know what you think!

This is the front-runner right now. I like color, pattern, detachable hood and belt.

Nordstrom, Gallery Hooded Trench, $98
As I said before I do not want a khaki trench- this green is perfect!

How sassy is this? The ruffles are so cheery.

I love everything about this coat.  The lines are simple and clean, great length and that bow on the back.  Come on.  Love.

So what do you think? Did I miss any? When I'm doing a staple purchase I tend to mull over my options for at least a week before taking the plunge- so please, I'm open to suggestions!

Cheers with Jewelry

So Kristin over at Bon Bon Rosegirls gave me inspiration for this post.  Wine colors!  Going off of yesterday's post of jewel tones in blue I thought we'd continue today with wine colors: reds, purples, merlots, you know something gorgeous!

Today let's focus on jewelry in these shades.

Also- send me your recipes for Friday Foodday!

I love this combination of glam and vintage.

Look at this beautiful bracelet! I love the way the light hits the beads.

Are these ladylike or what?

Hand dyed silk, just beautiful.
