Going Nude

It's summertime, which means flip flops and sandals and sometimes that can get a a bit too casual and lazy. I like to mix in some dressier sandals with shorts and dresses to step up the 24/7 cotton I'm living in. Today I've pulled some tan and nude peep toe sandals that are going to go with almost everything in your closet without blowing the budget.

These shoes are going to work with any sundress. Any of them!

How about a little lace up? A touch sporty but balanced with a block heel.

Great woven details and for under $60, you can't beat it.

Saks Off Fifth, Kenneth Cole Shay Cutout Leather Sandals, $190 $39
This sale price. You guys. This sale price.

These nude sandals are not your average bridesmaid shoe. They bring the style and will dress up any summer look.

All Tied Up

It's the second day of summer, I'm assuming your toes are looking painted and pretty? Ok good, because I need show you these shoes. Lace up gladiator sandals. Gladiators aren't anything new, and for me, they're quite the statement shoe. Like, whoa girl that's a lot of shoe, statement. These are a bit softer, easier to pair with items already in your closet.

Right?! These remind me of this month's pom post but next level.

This is your new neutral sandal. Subtle gold that goes with jeans, shorts, patterns, chambray, you name it.

These sandals are vacation ready. Like bring me something fruity cabana boy shoes.

Rose gold, anyone? Yeah, I thought so.

These fun sandals are a little less intimidating than a full blown gladiator shoe and they are more versatile for your summer shoe game.

Flat Out Affordable

Happy Monday lovebugs,
I hope you had a great weekend. Some great summer sales going on right now. I did some damage on the Old Navy Active sale  and today I thought we would look at some prices that go along with the sale trend. A few weeks ago we had some fun with summer espadrilles. Today let's raise the bar and look at flat espadrilles UNDER $50.

A little chambray on a shoe! I love the quiet anchor print.

Urban Outfitters, Soludos Canvas Espadrille Sandal, $48
These remind me of ballet slippers. So feminine and airy.

LOVE these. Comfort, style, summer.

Love the perforated trend in the summer not only for looks but also utility. These also come in five other colors.

Espadrilles are certainly a one or two season shoe, so they shouldn't break the bank. These walkable flats are perfect for summer and easy on the wallet.

Lovely Lapis

Meet lapis. She is a semiprecious stone most noted for her intense blue coloring. Isn't she a beauty?
Well this season, be on the lookout for some lapis.

A great asymmetrical button up jacket that is perfect for fall.

Bluefly, Lafayette 149 Tessa, $79
This was originally $268. Who pays that much for a shirt with no sleeves, I have no idea. BUT, I do love this v neck ruffle.

Gotta love some rich, saturated peplum.

What a great sheath! I love the great waist definition and it's just dying for some drop earrings!

Try to find some lapis on your shopping adventures this season. It's rich, it's beautiful and it's perfect for everyday wear.

The Tortoise and Your Ear

Happy humpday lovebugs,
Today I wanted to talk about some tortoise. We all know and love tortoise sunglasses, but recently, I'm really loving the casual cool of tortoise earrings. There is something very classy yet no frills about it.

Tory Burch, Walter, $78
Tory knows simple and chic and these studs do just that. I love the gold accents.

I'm picturing these with a tweed blazer and jeans, super library cool.

Banana Republic, Tortoise Stud Earring, $29
Doesn't get more everyday wear than this. Use these for suits, shorts, jeans, or dresses.

I love these because they're so artistic. Eye catching and unexpected.

Tortoise is timeless and seasonless so find a piece that you love and spend a little bit more on it so you can have it forever. I promise they will be one of your go to signature items.

Capped Off

Happy almost Friday lovebugs,
Today we're looking at a trend that's been featured here before- cap toe. I just love the detail that such a small effort adds to a shoe. Just look at some fabulous cap toe flats today.

Modern, chic and no nonsense. Way to go Ann.

Well aren't these just the sweetest things you ever did see? Neon, ballet, cap toe. Yes!

A perfect little flat for jeans and an open front cardi.

This color is called dusty silver and I like that because it's not screaming metallic but it still has some shine.

Are you sporting any cap toes this season? I just love their added detail.

New Series: Capital Ken

Please welcome my new Capital Ken! He will be posting the next few Mondays to help with your holiday shopping for your man!

Hello, I’m Kelsey’s friend, Jeff, from Philadelphia and thrilled to be “guesting” on Kelsey’s Blog. It is an honor to be a part of her holiday series on shopping for the men in your life. If you like this first one, please let her know, and maybe I’ll be invited back! This first one is all about winterizing with the right accessories.

You may not be comfortable buying shoes for your man, but consider an exception. Ankle boots are everywhere and you wouldn’t want your man left out in the cold without them, now would you?

Georgio Brutini, Ankle Boot, $80.99
These are great “go-to” boots for so many occasions… the perfect mix of dressed –up casual.

GBX, Ankle Boot, $70
If your man is comfortable with color, these work great with jeans, khaki’s, and cords.

DSW, Bronx Line Up Boot, $99.95
These may not work in the office, even for casual Friday, but they’re perfect for warm walks on cold days.

Kenneth Cole, New York Electric Rain Boot, $98
And finally, for those really wet and snowy D.C. days, who says you can’t still be stylish while braving the elements?

Angle to the Right

Oh Mondays.  So lame.  I hope you had a good weekend though!

Today I thought we'd jump right into some jewelry.  I was grabbed by a new style I saw in one of my magazines over the weekend.  Angular jewelry.  Gives the accessory some edge!

J Crew, Hazel bracelet, $40
The brass in combination with the bling is so opposing, but it works!

I'm loving the symmetry but also the sharp lines of these earrings.  For me it's like art meets an Excel doc.

Urban Outfitters, UO Geometric necklace, $29
Sharp edges really give definition to this piece.  Subtle, yet statement.

Kenneth Cole, Pyramid Bangle, $32
Kind of industrial no? I like these with a suit!

What do you think? Do you prefer the rounded edge and more feminine jewelry?  I think these are great to mix in when you're in ruffles and silk.  Have fun with it!
