Not Not Loving the Knot

As the weather gets warmer, its important to realize the variety of casual weekend shirts that are available. These tops will keep you cool and stylish without blowing your budget. One style I really like it the tie front waist top. It's breezy and can be dressed up or down.

J Crew Factory, Striped Tie Waist Pocket Tee, $34
How adorable is this tee? Pair it with cotton shorts or an eyelet skirt.

Bloomingdale's, AQUA Tie Front Tee, $24
A crisp and clean white tee that is as soft as can be.

I love this top with patterned shorts. It's a staple without being boring.

And a button down version. Simple and easy to accessorize.

Sure it's easy to grab a tank top on those hot days, but know you've got options. Stylish ones.

Ruff Around the Edges

I love dogs. As you can probably tell from my Instagram account, I'm pretty obsessed with my main furball, Norman. So when I start to see the quirky graphic pet sweaters, you know I have to do a post.

Sausage dog. I love this. So chic!

JCrew Factory, Intarsia Scottie Dog Sweater, $52
Love. Just simple. I'm pairing this with a classic buffalo plaid flannel button down

Just added this adorableness to my cart and I'm not even sorry. That dog is wearing boots.
Prefer a pug? I've got you covered.

Just happiness. I love this casual and simple top that I can easily dress up or down by layer the right blouse or jewelry.

So show some personality when shopping this season and if you're a dog lover. Show it.

She Just Likes to Embellish

Happy Monday lovebugs,
I hope you had a great weekend. Today I thought we would start things off with some shine, because what does Monday need other than coffee and sparkle? Right. Let's look at some beautifully embellished sweaters.

A beautiful shade of mint with a great cream collar addition.

Piperlime Willow & Clay, Embellished Jewel Sweatshirt, $79
I love this option for work. A pencil skirt paired with the comfort of fleece and you still look fancy.

J Crew Factory, Embellished Sweater, $58
Who doesn't love a nice merino blend? And in a rich navy? Sold.

And for something a little different, this shoulder embellished sweater. I love this emerald shade.

Built in sparkle to your top. No need for a necklace, this option takes care of it. You can go all over bling or pops of sparkle with the collar or shoulder. If you're looking for an easy, matches pretty much anything in your closet top, this is your go to. Throw it over a dress, pair it with jeans, or add some shine to a corduroy mini skirt.

Sk8tr Boi

There has been a trend that I've watched from afar this fall and now I think it's time. The slip on sneaker. I think I avoided it because they reminded me of a 14 year old boy. But then I found some feminine patterns and now I'm all about this casual shoe.

American Eagle, Slip On Sneaker, $24
What did I tell you? How sweet are these?

My good friend, Catlan rocked these at her day-after-her-wedding-brunch and they were awesome. Also comes in a great floral.

This graphic might be my favorite, it's fun but you can wear pretty much anything with it.

J Crew Factory, Metallic Slip On Sneaker, $38
Killer price point for this go to sneaker.

What are your thoughts on this slip on sneaker trend? I am loving the variety of patterns, colors, and even materials! Slip on is not just for skater boys anymore.

Vesting Ceremony

Let's talk fall outerwear. It can be difficult to judge whether to go with the trench, the denim jacket, or something entirely different: the vest. Today we're looking at the ultra-versatile puffer or quilted vest and it's a fantastic investment for fall.

JCrew Factory, Quilted Puffer Vest, $98
I really love this oatmeal color, it's a perfect base for a colorful cotton scarf.

Old Navy, Quilted Zip-front Vests, $34
The truly classic forest green. It's equestrian in color and style and so chic with flat brown boots.

This pattern is adorable and a statement for outerwear.

LandsEnd, Women's Down Vest, $59
How great is this pattern with chambray? And you know LandsEnd is quality when it comes to outerwear.

Before you grab the cotton coat or the trench, give the vest a try. It's easily layered and easily packed for weekend trips.

Pop Quiz, Bro

Pop vocabulary quiz. Brocade. What does it mean. [insert Jeopardy music here] Ok, time's up. Brocade come from the Italian broccato meaning "embossed cloth". It often uses silver and gold thread and packs the pattern punch. Now a pattern like brocade can sometimes be heavy, old fashioned, and not necessarily spring-weather ready. The way we can warm up this style is brighten the color, use metallics to our favor and, well, let's take a look.

The lime color here is perfectly citrus and lightens up the floral-inspired pattern.

J Crew Factory, Gilded Jacquard Top in Brocade, $79
The rounded hemline is the least awesome thing going on here and that's saying something. The cut, the color, you really can't beat this minty emerald canvas.

Modcloth, Debut Dramatist Dress, $54
Another way to lighten up this pattern is to mimic the pattern on a simple cotton maxi. This oversized pattern balances perfectly with the longer length.

BB Dakota, Joss Jacket, $30
A cute baseball jacket is perfect to layer on with a tee. Unclear why this model is giving us the stink eye.

Brocade is easy to wear in the winter month, Brighten up the colors and find light fabrics to wear it in the warmer months.

Happy Birthday Sara

It's my sister's birthday. She's posted here before, so I feel like you know her. She is turning the big 25 today and so we're going to pick out some gifts that she would love.

Invisible Children, Mend/Clutch, $79
Sara is very passionate when it comes to helping people. This charity is no different. Invisible Children is a great organization that benefits women and children affected by the LRA conflict.

Max and Chloe, Elephant Charm Bangle Bracelet, $25
Speaking of Africa, did I mention she has a thing for elephants? I'm loving this dainty little bangle.

J Crew Factory, Mirrored Sunglasses, $19
I have come to understand that I will never be a cool as my sister. She could pull of these mirrored shades with no problem, and with this price point, she should.

Anthropologie, Mahdia Peasant Top,$88
This breezy top is perfect for work or play. I'd pair it some slim ankle pants for work.

Happy birthday Sara! I hope you have a wonderful day.

You Can Bet You Boucle!

Boucle is a type of yarn that has a nubby quality. It's not tweed, it's not cotton, it's somewhere in the middle.  You'll see it in a horrid scarf that was handmade by an unknown relative (it varies by family), but you'll also see it beautifully tailored into some pretty stunning jackets. Check out these items.

J Crew Factory, Boucle Peplum Jacket, $78
A little peplum action is a great detail on this cozy jacket.

Gap, Boucle Jacket, $88
I just adore these flat exterior pockets. They add the perfect detail to this navy jacket.

How about this bright boucle from Asos? A great piece for fall.

How about a moto boucle? Oh just lovely. A great 3/4 length sleeve makes this an easy layering piece.

Boucle is a fun texture that works for fall or winter. Look for a tailored fit with good darting on the sides.

Bobbing for Baubles

We haven't done a nail polish post in a while and this one seems fall fitting. Navy. This Essie Bobbing for Baubles polish is going to be fabulous for fall.

Urban Outfitters, Coincidence and Chance Bow Blouse, $59
A fabulous bow neckline makes this long sleeve top your throw on and go shirt.

If you would have told me baseball hats would be all the rage this fall, I would have laughed at you. Well, joke's on me. This flannel version is one of my favorites.

This very Mad Men dress is perfect for accessorizing. It's pretty much a blank canvas to add a belt, necklace, earring, jacket, and more.

J Crew Factory, Pencil Skirt in Polka Dot, $79
Oh J Crew you've done it again. Navy, dots, pencil perfection.

Navy is and always will be a staple, and this Essie polish is a great way to accessorize your nails.

All In: First Day

Happy July lovebugs! Today is a special day for me because it's my first day at a new job. So I thought what better way to continue our all in for $100 theme posts than with a first day outfit. Now offices really very with dress code, and for mine it's business casual and even a bit more relaxed for summer. That's what we'll focus on today.

All in: $99

It Is Easy Being Green

Hey there lovebugs, as you may know, my favorite color is purple. Bold purple. But a close second has got to be green. I love green because its such a statement color. Saturated or pastel, it always stands out. Today we're not looking at any style in particular, but rather some great green pieces that I'm loving lately.

Forever 21, High-Waisted Pocket Shorts, $15
High waisted, high drama. Wear heels, tuck in the shirt, own it.

J Crew Factory, Dangling Shapes Necklace, $29
Oh how lovely is this necklace? I'm pairing it with denim, a lace dress, or anything in between.

BC Footwear, Grass is Greener, $49
A great woven detail on this sandal. I also love the stripe of gold all around the sole.

A must own. Truly. Wear it traveling, wear it to a bridal shower, wear it to drinks with the girls, wear it to the pool. So simple yet so stunning.

Green is just one of those colors that pops on anyone. It's also a very easy color to mix with other colors, try coral, yellow, or navy.

Dressed Up to Sweat

Hey there lovebugs! Today's post is all about surviving the heat of summer and still looking fab for work. There is a very simple solution to this, and it's called the work dress. Let me illustrate.

J Crew Factory, Cora Lace Dress, $58
Sunny and chipper this dress is easy to add pearls or some colorful bling!

Modcloth, Croquet By Me Dress, $92
This one will get a lot more wear than just to work. I'd wear this to brunch with the girls or throw a denim jacket over it for evening.

Oh I'm sorry, you thought this was J Crew? Nope. These beautiful pleats and stripes are from Target!

Love, love love. When I think shirt dress I don't always think work appropriate. This one is absolutely 9-5 ready.

Whether you walk to work or have the extreme luxury of AC, you're going to need some light and easy to throw on dresses.

Be fabulous and stay cool!
