Y Not Accessories

How about a simple but statement like necklace for these hot summer nights? Something long, sexy, eye catching, but not super bold. I'm thinking about the y necklace. Its similar to the lariat style necklace but you can play around with charms, metals, and flair. These necklaces go best with form fitting dresses or deep v tops. Think tall glass of water.

I love how this design mixes up the triangle pattern. One, one, two, three, one, two. It is unexpected and fun.

Sole Society, Natural Stone Y Necklace, $29
Look closely and you will see the 'y' part of this necklace is a shark tooth. I love it.

Silver, cool, and collected. This necklace even adds a touch of rocker with the charm.

Can you spot the initial? Right. It's quiet, understated, but personal.

The y necklace is easy to throw on and go. You don't even have to open a clasp to put it on. Wear it with a simple scoop neck white tee or cotton maxi to add just something extra to your outfit.

Fringe Benefits

Let's talk fringe. Not hippie fringe. Not festival fringe. I'm talking about classy, chic, cool fringe. How can you take such an iconic style and translate it to a modern and updated look? Make it an earring of course! These fringe earrings are have movement, they make a statement, and they're under budget.

Rebecca Minkoff, Boho Fringe Front Back Earring, $58
Boom. Statement earring in the sleekest way.

House of Harlow, Sunburst Fringe Earring, $42
What a colorful and simple accessory to add on this summer. I love this yellow tone.

Rose gold rocker, anyone? Hello bad ass.

Reasons I love this earring: Baublebar describes it as a glam crystal baguette. Sold.

Embrace fringe and dress it up for work or play with these earrings. They are chic and easy to add to any outfit.

Get Lucky

I'm feeling lucky this humpday. It's mid-February, we're coming up on a long weekend. Things are looking up. So let's ride out this luck with some horseshoe jewelry. One thing to remember when sporting this simple statement: always, always, always, make sure the horseshoe is right side up, otherwise all of the luck will fall out. Like this. Avoid it.

Check out the pyramid stud details that mimic the horseshoe nails. Brilliant.

This delicate crystal charm also comes in a very feminine rose gold.

Alex and Ani, Charm Bangle, $32
Every woman knows and loves this brand. I love their simple bangle that is adjustable and affordable.

As a reminder, you want to turn these babies right side up, but let's focus on how cute this set is!

Grab yourself some luck with these horseshoe accessories.

Choke Hold

Let's have some fun with an unexpected trend that is making quite a return: the choker necklace. Who knew? I like this trend because it offers a nice variation to the big bauble and statement pieces that we know and love.

J Crew, Shaped Choker, $98
This sculptural beauty is on my Christmas list.

BaubleBar, Gemini Pearl Choker, $36
These asymmetric pearls are so not your gramma's pearls. I love the mix of gold with gray.

Leave it to Nicole Richie to create this beauty. A bold herringbone pattern is perfect.

Topshop, Draped Stone Choker, $28
Teeny tiny stones give this necklace such detail for such a low price. The draping make this almost victorian looking.

So mix up your collar and statement necklaces with these chokers. They offer a bold but cool look that is pretty effortless.

Laser Removal

You know I love details. I am a sucker for just that little extra something that gives a piece character. Today we're going to look at a detail that takes time. Something that is more than just a bold color, pattern, or texture. It's the laser cut. Sharp, defined and edgy. Today let's look at some black laser cut tops.

Vince Camuto, Chandelier Laser Cut Blouse, $84
Did you think you could classify a top as art deco? Because I'm about to. How sassy is this blouse?

Nordstrom, Leith Laser Cut Shell, $48
An eye-catching geo print that is ready for a bandeau or even a button down.

House of Harlow, Phoenix Tee, $29
Originally $165. That's right. Thank you Nicole Richie.

A little boho and ready for your moto boots.

The laser cut is a great trend and detail that makes quite a statement. While you can wear it in a heel or even a white dress, these edgier black tops are really something special.

Playing a Game of Horseshoes

As you may or may not know, I'm a horse lover. I rode horses for more than a decade and they will always have a special place in my heart. So when I started to see the horseshoe inching it's way into accessories and clothing, I got very excited. Horseshoes mean good luck and I think we'll have some good luck with these pieces.

Anthropologie, Mirrored Horseshoe Mini Skirt, $99
I would describe this skirt in one word: charming. It's a beautiful silk cotton blend that is perfect for work or play.

House of Harlow, Horseshoe Bangle, $48
This bangle is so ready for an arm party. Layer it up and it will fit right into your usual rotation of bracelets.

Combining the horseshoe element with another very popular trend, the tassel. I love it!

Simple. Why so spendy for such a small piece? Because its fantastic quality. It won't turn your neck green. This little necklace is timeless.

If you indulge in the horseshoe trend, which you should, you must promise me one thing. ALWAYS wear your horseshoe turned up as you've seen in the pieces above. An upside down horseshoe lets all of the luck fall out. Remember that.

Shades with Style

Hey lovebugs! I hope you are getting through the week with a smile. Even though it has been a rainy week so far in DC, I know that the sun will come out soon; and when it does, you gotta be ready with some sassy shades. Right now, I'm loving colorful frames because they add a great pop to any outfit.

Urban Outfitters, South of 5th Cat Eye Sunglasses, $16
How fabulous are these? I need a silk scarf and a convertible asap.

Anthropologie, Rhetorical Shades, $58
These are so mod and wonderful, the color mixing is perfect for a Sunday afternoon.

American Eagle, Foldable Icon Sunglasses, $7
You've gotta love this punchy color and the price!

House of Harlow, 1960 Nicole Sunglasses, $99
OK, and I had to include one fabulous and fancy pair. How chic are these?

Switch out your usual tortoise shells for something fun and punchy like one of these pairs. There is a style and color for everyone.

Skinny Cuff

So often when you think of a cuff bracelet you think thick and clunky, but I'm really loving the skinny cuff right now. It resembles a bangle but with the structure of a cuff.

Madewell, Gold Dot Cuff, $24
Simple and can work for some many styles depending on what you pair it with. Preppy with an oxford, boho with some buffalo plaid.

This industrial looking bracelet has a great rocker edge to it.

Natalie B, Love Word Cuff, $48
A little hobo chic, no? But add it to your gold watch and you can dress it up.

Free People, Mulholland Cuff, $28
I love this Aztec inspired engraving on this piece, something rugged about it.

House of Harlow, Spike and Cone Cuff, $95
I'm obsessed with this bracelet. It is so unexpected for someone who usually dresses very girly. This cuff to me says, bring it on.

So if you've avoided cuffs because they're too thick, too much of a statement on your arm; check out these options and layer a couple on to add some bling to your outfit.

Rose Gold

Rose gold has been a big trend this season, watches, necklaces, and I think the popularity will only continue. Here are some of my favorite items.

House of Harlow, Long Arrow Ring, $65
So simple and chic. I love this for dark wash jeans and a plaid flannel.

Just yes, this is perfect for layering.

Tina Turk, Brick Stud Earrings, $50
Simple, easy, matches everything.

Michael Kors, Bucket Bracelet Bangle, $85
This is masculine but with a classic and timeless edge. Great with a suit.

What are some of your favorite rose gold jewelry items?

Aztec Jewelry

It's another jewelry feature today.  Today we're looking at tribal patterns, something that is interesting for the eye.

This is just gorgeous.  The detail makes this under $20 piece look priceless.

Arden B, Aztec Disc Ring, $24
How much fun is this ring?  I love this with jeans or an LBD.

Dillard's Anna and Ava Aztec Enamel Hinged Bracelet, $18
So simple, so chic, it would go with everything.

House of Harlow, Star Earring, $49
House of Harlow is fabulous for tribal inspired jewelry. These earrings are so chic and even have a rocker vibe.

I really like Aztec jewelry to mix in with my preppy wardrobe.  It adds something unexpected and sassy.
