Into the Jungle

Feeling wild on hump day? Yeah, me too. I'm itching for the weekend and that's got me thinking about going out bags. I love a great clutch because they hold just the essentials and can really make an outfit. Today I thought we would look at a real eye catcher, the leopard clutch.

Dorothy Perkins, Leopard Structured Clutch Bag, $29
Can't beat this price for a great bag that looks expensive.

A metallic sheen makes this clutch stand out.

This bag has a disco feel to it. I love the patent leather cap.

Kate Spade, Mullins Place Pouch, $99
Pink glitter and leopard. I'll just leave this here.

So if you're feeling something small and fantastic, look no further than a classic leopard clutch. It goes with everything and is a great four season bag.

Spring Sneakers

How about some spring-ready slip ons? Sneakers that are casual, sporty, and chic. I love my Steve Madden slip on quilted sneakers because they are comfortable and easy to wear. These colorful pairs are going to be perfect for the warmer weather.

Hello spring! How cute are these in blush?

Dr. Scholl's, Madison Memory Foam Slip On, $49
A beautiful sneaker that will go with everything. Jeans, printed crops, you name it.

I'm obsessed with these sneakers. Highlighter pink and comfort for days.

Nordstrom, Sam Edelman Pixie Slip On, $48
I had to throw in a printed option. So pretty.

Sure it will be sandal season before we know it, but when your pedicure isn't ready, opt for these pretty sneakers.

Guest Post: Get Back on the Horse

Hi everyone! I’m Heather, Kelsey’s BFF from middle school (yeah, we’re getting old), filling in while Kelsey sleeps for a few days in wedded bliss.

While Kelsey is bringing the fabulous to DC, I live in Memphis. And while DC is nice and snowy this time of year, it’s been in the 60s half of January here. And then it drops 30 degrees. In these uncertain times, my go-to outfit is riding boots and a long-sleeved dress. Here are some of my current faves.

My go-to boot style - they literally go with EVERYTHING.

H&M, Wrap-front Dress, $24.99
I love a great print - why wear solids when you can have so much more fun?

Obsessed. The fit is spectacular and that print is to die for.

Old Navy, Crepe Swing Dress, $19.99
I could (and do) wear florals year-round - it’s never too cold for flowers!

Modcloth, Do You Coffee? Shirt Dress, $69.99
Again with the florals - and this one has the added bonus of being green and white for this KD.

This look is great for a business-casual office like mine, and then for going straight to happy hour. And keeps you warm but not overly toasty on those crazy weather days!

Beautiful Brogue

Let's talk footwear inspired by men. Brogues to be exact. The Brogue shoe has some history: it is a style of low-heeled shoe or boot traditionally characterised by multiple-piece, sturdy leather uppers with decorative perforations (or "broguing") and serration along the pieces' visible edges. [Source]

I love these shoes because they're functional, masculine, and preppy. Let's look at some options.

I love this red option. It's what Dorothy would have worn on a day-today basis. Pair these with bf jeans in the summer and black ponte leggings now.

These bad boys are half off and I am dying to pair them with an LBD now and a floral sundress later.

I really like these with a pair of ankle pants. They are quite tailored.

And for something a bit different but still on major sale, these no lace beauties.

I really like the brogue trend because it injects some masculinity into your look but you can play off it and wear a big bow top or a very feminine necklace to balance it out.

Metal Detector

Shoe trends come and go but one that I think has and will stick around for a while is the cap toe. It's such a simple detail that you can dress up or down. Today we're looking at metal cap toe flats.

Sole Society, Dylann, $59
A sweet braided t-strap in a fall suede is great with a cord mini.

This is like the tuxedo of flats. Chic and classic.

Last Call Neiman Marcus, Seychelles Juniper Cap Toe Pointy Flat, $79 $39!!
Get. In. My Closet. Goodness gracious these shoes.

You've got to love a taupe suede. So mature and effortless.

A perfectly walkable flat with a bit of flare. Bring on the metallic cap toe.

Top Me Off

Happy Monday lovebugs,
I'm feeling ladylike this morning. Girly, flirty, and feminine. One fall bag trend that exudes lady is the top handle handbag. It's very Mad Men chic. Simple, elegant, and under $100.

Sole Society, Baylen, $49
This cognac beauty is fall. It's got an equestrian feel and the hardware is just subtle enough to blend in.

Shop Ruche, Summertime Stroll Bag, $64
A simple nude bag that you can carry into fall by adding a cool scarf.

This colorblock vision also comes in a cobalt version but I love this for fall.

Modcloth, Cobalt Charisma Bag, $65
And speaking of cobalt how about this sharp number?

The top handle bag is a simple detail that to me adds just a touch of femininity to your look. Find it in your style and your color but enjoy it all the same.

Welcome to the Jungle

We started the week off with a versatile gold clutch post. Today we're going to look at another versatile summer shoe. The leopard flat sandal. Paint your toes, put the band aids away, and let's look at your new go to shoe.

Zappos, Sam Edelman Gigi, $64
We're starting with my favorite. I love this sandal. Give me a weekend outfit it does not work with. I dare you.

Sole Society, Lucky Brand Abbee, $68
A mary jane d'orsay leopard flat. How many trends are we working here? Too many to care because you're going to look awesome.

How beachy and fantastic are these espadrille leopard flats?

Nordstrom, B.P. Kastoria Flat Sandal, $69
This is how you mix in leopard. Wear this sandal with navy, black, brown, orange, I can go on...

So splurge on one last sandal purchase this summer. Leopard is going to be the best cost per wear option.

New Year's In the Bag

Welcome to the last few days of 2013. Last week you may have been Christmas-ing but we looked at some pretty fantastic NYE dresses. Today we'll check out some NYE bags and tomorrow, shoes. Oh and did I mention all of these bags are under $50?

So very Gatsby. I love the modern look to this clutch, but styled correctly, it could also be quite edgy.

Some bags have all of the fun. Be sure to carry that bag on New Years.

Nordstrom, Transparent Minaudiere, $48
This bag is so effortless. It's simple and unassuming in the most elegant way.

Macy's, Le Regale Handbag, $36
If you can't carry an over the top bag on New Years, I don't know when you can. This bag is antique and stunning.

Now go out there and find a clutch that sparkles like you will on New Years. Beaded, sequins, metallic,  you name it.

On The Wedge of Glory

Happy Monday! I thought the exclamation point would help, but it's not. #realtalk. I think what we need is some shoes. Oxfords are a great option for fall because they look adorable with pants or minis. Today we're going to spice things up a bit and look at oxford wedges.

Dr. Scholl's, Cate, $89
I mean, really. Picture this, a cord mini, tights, a cable knit sweater and a puffer vest. Hello.

Modcloth, On the Wingtip Wedge, $42
An nice simple gray that you can dress up or pair with skinny jeans.

As Loft puts it 'part buttoned-up, part vixen'. Also comes in jet black.

Super girly with a great platform means extra height with extra comfort.

How amazing are these taller versions of the boys style? I love the sassiness with the utility of the lace and wedge.

Strap On

As a girl who walks pretty much everywhere, I adore my flats. I work them hard and I have a lot of them. One style that I plan on investing in this season is the ankle strap flat. They have a little something extra that go perfectly with rolled up jeans for fall.

Sole Society, Lizzi, $49
See what I mean? A little something extra. These patent leather beauties also come in tan and black.

American Eagle, AEO Ankle Strap Pointed Toe Flat, $34
Yes, American Eagle, I know! I think these may be my fall shoe purchase. They're my favorite color, shiny and suede. Oh just lovely.

A little ankle jewelry never hurt anyone!

BOOM! Double strap! Didn't see that coming, did you? This faux-snakeskin print also comes in black

Ankle strap flats. Simple, yet statement. A great investment shoe for fall.

Flowers, for Me?

Floral is so easy for spring, we looked at some just a little while ago. Today we're searching for floral pumps. I love this trend because it combines the sometimes severe stiletto with the soft pattern and colors of a floral.

Look at how the patten continues down the heel. This is perfect with jeans or a sundress.

The Limited, Patterned Mid-Heel Pumps, $69
I LOVE these colors. Tan legs or pale legs, it works with them all.

A little Grease sock hop but in a Cha Cha DiGrergorio kind of way. Hot.

This pattern should be stretched onto a canvas. Just lovely.

Floral pumps, a little sexy, a little girly, a lot easy for any style. Pick a hue, pastel, purples, reds, you name it, you will find something in your taste for this trend.
