Drop It

Let's play with waistlines. The seemingly neglected line when its main competition is the ultra-visible hemline. The drop waist is scary because it's not the usual hourglass silhouette we are used to seeing. It swings differently, falls differently, and hugs differently. As we've been taught as women in the 21st century - different is good. So let's try on some printed drop waist dresses that make us feel...different.

Loft, Dot Flounce Dress, $89
I mean, come on. Perfect. Great vertical torso seam to make you look six feet tall.

So effortless. I love the pockets!

One more polka dot option because it seems to work so well with this waistline.

I love this dress because it doesn't scream summer. Wear it now and then wear it later with a navy blazer with suede booties.

Mix it up with the waistlines and try something different. Drop waist is easy, breezy, and unexpected.

Drop it Like its a Dress

A great trend this year is bringing back the colorful prints and shapes from the 60s. One of those iconic shapes is the drop waist dress. It's funky, casual, and in my opinion, it's confident. Lets look at some fall/winter options you can add a denim jacket to or some tights.

I'd hold off for a great promo code from JCrew because they always seem to have them for sale items. If you can't wait, I totally understand and support you.

I absolutely love the way this dress fits. Like a glove. Go LBD or add a statement earring.

A little easier on the wallet and a great long sleeve option for fall.

Boden, Drop Waist Tunic Dress, $88
Oh you want a layering option? Boden has got you covered.

The drop waist is a really fun shape to try with tights and flats or an oxford and bootie. I love this look.

Drop that Waist

Happy Monday lovebugs! How was your weekend?

This week I'm celebrating my 25 month blogiversary, and on Wednesday there will be a special giveaway!

Today we're looking a great trend to wear from summer into fall; drop waist dresses. Wear them now with some great accessories and then pair them with tights and a belted cardigan in the fall.

This great print is perfect for the office, and the boatneck is a beautiful addition.

An adorable jersey dress that is perfect for August. This also comes in white and green.

I'm loving this tiny bird print all over this dress, I would pair it with some white baubles.

Max Studio, Sleeveless Dress, $78
A perfect example of warm to cool. Pair this dress with a tissue turtleneck and you're ready for fall!

Drop waist isn't for everyone, but it's definitely worth a try in the dressing room. It's a great addition to an a-line filled closet.

Drop It Like it's Hot

The drop waist trend seems like it's everywhere right now; but how do you wear when you're not walking the red carpet? Let's look at some great options for right now when E! isn't knocking on your door.

Macy's, Nine West Dress, $67
I love the change in stripe direction on the waist and the short sleeves. I'd add a neon bauble necklace for a great pop of color.

Alice and Olivia, Stapen Drop Waist Tunic Dress, $78
Anyone else think this model looks like she's about to be attacked? Just me? Ok. Let's look past that. Great jersey material dress that's just screaming for sky high heels and a night out.

Modcloth, To Peach Her Own Dress, $87
Stay with me on this one; I'd unbutton at least four buttons and wear a great detailed lace cami underneath to break up the color. Maybe a straw floppy "Kentucky Derby-esque" hat.

Anthropologie, Marian Flapper Chemise, $34
A simple chic silk shift. Fantastic color.

I think the biggest advice to wearing a drop waist dress is trying it on first. Each dart and line runs differently and you really need to see it on and not online to decide if its right for you.
