What A Colorful World

Remember when colorblock used to be THE thing? What happened? Did we give up? Well I'm not quite over it. Maybe we can tone it down from the major color combos of two years ago, but I am really loving these pieces.

Last Call Neiman Marcus, Colorblock Zip Pocket Sheath Dress, $89
Oh hello mod chic.

A beautiful cotton pullover that is great for the not quite warm weather we're having right now.

Originally $325. Get on this.

Ann Taylor, Colorblock Tie Blouse, $64
This blouse is so eye-catching. I love the color combination because you can pair it with so many options.

Who says colorblocking is over? I love mixing surprising colors together to make a really chic look.

Don't Block the Color

Remember when colorblock was all the rage? Well I'm not quite finished with this trend yet. I love the variety of color, mixing of stripes, pleats, and other details. Today we are throwin' it back on Thursday for some great colorblock dresses.

Mint, navy, and pleats. What else do you need this summer?

Do not wait on this beauty. It's perfect for summer evening parties, weddings, you name it.

Simple, elegant, and just effortless.

I like a trapeze dress for summer because it's loose but its more fitted than a shift dress.

Colorblock isn't quite vintage yet but where did it go? I'm bringing it back for summer because it's bright, colorful, and perky.

Color Me Warm

Happy humpday lovebugs,
How's your week going? A little chilly? How about a scarf post? Today we're looking at colorblock scarves.

Yes, it's a little expensive for a scarf, but I promise, Nordstrom cashmere delivers. You will be so cozy and warm in this beautiful scarf.

So maybe it's not 25 degrees where you are, try this stunner either around your neck or even around your purse handle!

Gap, Cozy, Colorblock Scarf, $29
This bright yellow would be perfect under almost any color coat, even patterned.

I really love the pops of neon in this scarf, it's a great layering piece with or without a jacket.

You can never really have too many scarves, and embracing the colorblock trend is so easy with this accessory.

I'm Going to Expose You

Hey lovebugs!
Happy humpday, we're getting there. Today I wanted to stay with the not-so-prepster trend. Yesterday we looked at leather; today it's exposed zippers. I like the edge that it adds to an outfit but not in an overt 'look at me I'm so hot' kind of way.

A great 3/4 length sleeve in this beautiful creamy red.

Bloomingdale's, Aqua Dress Large Eyelet Zip, $35
You guys. Exposed zipper, white eyelet, $35. Enough said.

Rachel Roy, The Back Up Trouser, $99
Look at this beautiful pink trouser. I love the gold zipper.

Nordstrom, Crepe de Chine Dress, $78
This dress just went on sale and I'm so glad it did. A great mix of colors and so simple.

The exposed zipper trend doesn't have to be super motorcycle chic. Try mixing it with other trends like color blocking or eyelet.

Let's Get Specific

It's almost Friday and thank goodness. Today I wanted to get really specific with a style of dress- the colorblock with pleats. It's sleek, colorful and sophisticated.

One of my favorite color combinations, and I especially like this dress because I can wear a bra and still be cool.

Lord and Taylor, DKNYC Sleeveless pleated dress, $95
Very professional and and easy to dress up for an evening event.

Great colors on this maxi, I would add a longer necklace and some bright nails.

These sleeves are fabulous, and the dress is perfect for a date or dinner with a client.

What do you think about pleats? I like them when its the correct size and fit. You need to make sure the pleat elongates the waist and does not attract attention as it might if it's too tight.

Bag It

We all know color blocking is huge, but what about for bags? Mixing colors on your accessories is always a great way to spice an outfit.

Asos, Aldo Virga Clutch, $71
The turquoise trim really makes this bag for me. Such a small but noticeable pop of color.

I'm a sucker for polka dots and this is no exception. Amazing.

Chic to the extreme, I love the patent leather.

Color blocking isn't just for clutches, here is a great tote for work or weekend.

I just love mixing punchy colors, but if you're not feeling brave to wear it, try accessorizing with it!

It's Easy Being Green

Hey lovebugs! Happy Monday to you. I hope you had a great weekend. Let's make this week fabulous.

Today I wanted to get specific. Colorblocking is something we've talked about already on this blog, but today I want to focus on one color in particular. Green. So often with colorblocking we see neons and pinks and oranges, let's look at a new punchy color, green.

I love this piece. It's funky, it's a great statement piece.

Collective Concepts, Colorblock Blouse, $64
The blue really pops on this blouse, I'd pair this with a cardi now and with a white skirt in the summer.

Payton, Dolman Sleeve Colorblock, $64
How great is this mod style sweater? The dolman sleeves really make it.

New York and Co, Colorblock Scarf, $20
I love this scarf, it would go perfectly with jeans.

Thoughts on green colorblocking? I think it's great for the cooler days.

Suede Colorblock Heels

Who doesn't need a pair of fabulous party heels? Colorblocking is a great way to make an entrance and these shoes, well they need no introduction.

Kohl's, Salas Platform Heels, $59
Sometimes a suede platform can feel clunky but the mix of colors here make it seem less weighed down.

OK I don't think I could walk in these, but worn appropriately, I would respect any woman who could. This heel is like a work of art!

Steve Madden, Cathi Heels, $89
Just so amazing. I can't even say.

Dolce Vita, Suede Colorblock Pumps, $89
If you ever wear these, you must tell your significant other "you're welcome" from me.

Are you in love like I am? These punchy heels are just perfect for the weekend.

Colorblocking Jewelry

Colorblocking was a huge trend this spring and summer and I think it will continue through the fall but what about using the trend on your accessories?  Check out these pieces!

Sassy and unique, and you can wrap it around your wrist or wear it as a necklace with colored denim.
Anthropologie, Moche necklace, $78
Hello pastel perfection.  Just wow.
Marc Jacobs, Colorblock bolt bracelet, $49
I really like how raw these look.  Feminine yet hard.

Nordstroms, Colorblock Heart Studs, $27
I've posted these before and I'll post them again. So fun, so tiny, so sweet!

Thoughts? I love this trend for jewelry because it adds such a pop for an accessory.
