Let's Get Waisted

Today's post idea comes from my father. Yes, this blog is a family show. A text from dad this weekend said: "blog idea, belts, the title let's get waisted, ha!" So. Here we go. Some fantastic skinny belts under $50 that will define any maxi dress, shift dress, or cardigan coming into the fall.

Boden, Skinny Belt, $38
I love the contrasting colors with this belt. If you cinch it and then tie the excess you will get that pop of orange.

Dorothy Perkins, White Tassel Skinny Belt, $6
I love this belt with a blousy floral dress. It also comes in tan.

Vince Camuto, Neon Skinny Belt, $24
Who doesn't love a pop of neon? I'd paid this with navy to really wake up an outfit.

Something different from you average belt and it's designer!

A simple belt can really make all the difference with an outfit. It defines a waistline and it adds a little something extra to your look!

Put a Bow on It

Hi lovebugs,
It's Monday, so I'm going to keep this pretty short and sweet. It's cardigan season, it's also layering season, which means it's also belt season. Today we're looking at bow belts. These are an easy and chic accessory that you can pair over you cards, add a waist to a dress, put over your coat, do I need to go on?

Target, Mossimo Bow Belt,$14
This shade of brown looks so rich. I'd pair it with a navy sweater dress.

A beautiful lace that would add the perfect pop to a bridesmaid's dress or a suit.

Ok how about a crisp white oxford with this pop of teal? Oh yes. I love it!

White House Black Market, Red Silverstone Skinny Bow Belt, $44
I like this skinny red option for a bold print. It adds a pop of wow to big pattern.

I love layering season and I love accessorizing in unexpected ways. These feminine belts can work with a trench coat, tunic, dress, you name it.

Stop, Tassel Time

Yesterday I mentioned a tassel belt that could be added to a maxi dress; but really, the tassel belt can do so much more than just that. I love this option because it dresses up and gives some personality to an otherwise utility piece.

Anthropologie, Tasseled Jetty Belt, $48
Hello preppy perfection.

Mango, Tassel Link Belt, $39
This belt reminds me of a Chanel bag. So gold and so timeless.

A great casual option to pair with a dress, chino shorts, any pretty much anything else you can think of.

The Limited, Tassel Accent Belt, $39
A textured faux-leather makes this budget friendly belt perfect for work. I'm thinking a black pencil skirt.

Tassels are a great detail on jewelry, bags, and shoes. Now, try it with a belt.

Back to Black

We're getting basic today. Going way back to a staple. The black belt. Sometimes you just need to invest in a solid accessory and today it's the belt.

Madewell, Leather Belt, $48
Simple, classic, rounded buckle in an unassuming brass.

Everlane, The High Lo Belt, $40
Made in San Francisco, this modern style is made from soft Italian leather making it last a lifetime.

A nice narrow option that you can add to a shift dress or over a cardigan to define your waist.

Cole Haan, Village Skinny Belt, $48
Cole Haan is known for making great leather pieces. From their shoes to their bags, this belt is no exception.

Sometimes you have to get back to basics. Invest in a solid black belt that is versatile, good quality and easy to add to any outfit.

Belt Beauty

Another great way to spruce up your sweater collection is to add on a fancy belt. Not your standard leather number I mean something pretty. Take a look at these pieces.

Anthropologie, Jeweled Scalloped Belt, $58
Detailed is an understatement here. This Anthro collaboration with Deepa Gurnani is very special. Deepa started as a beading designer for Alexander McQueen.

Add this to a cardigan or a LBD. Understated yet dressy.

Neiman Marcus, Three Row Beaded Belt, $19
These longer metallic beads add a little hipster Aztec to this belt. Yes, hipster Aztec is totally a thing.

On super sale right now, this belt is perfect for all four seasons. Throw this on a simple cotton dress in the summer and now with an open cardigan.

Belts as jewelry can add a special something to your outfit. I know its that time of year when we get a little tired of the sweater drawer. Spice it up with these belts!

Metallica

Happy Monday lovebugs,
Right now I am on a plane to Miami for a work conference. Don't be too jealous, I won't see the light of day, but that being said I've never been to Miami, so maybe I'll get lucky and see some sand. Today I wanted to look at metal plate belts. I find they have a great edginess to them that your everyday belt just doesn't provide.

This belt reminds me of the Jetson's, but in a how fabulous would this look with an LBD kind of way.

White House Black Market, Metallic Crystal Watchband Belt, $58
To me this has a Wall Street vibe to it that is just perfect with a skirt suit or maybe a peplum top.

I love the intricacy of this belt! It's like another piece of jewelry!

Well you can't beat the price, that's for sure. It's not metal all the way around but I love this pop of orange!

Metal plated belts are such a great accessory because they make a great statement piece. Any belt is easy to add to an outfit, but a metal belt demands attention.

Belting an Hourglass

Well, here we are, back to work. What a bummer. But, at least its a short week right? Today and tomorrow we're going to look at some cold weather items. Today we're looking at belted coats because you don't have to look like a sack when you get all bundled up. Add a belt to add some curve to your warmth.

Macy's, Steve Madden Funnel Neck Belted Flared Coat, $99
This beautiful tweed is perfect for work of play. I love the skirt like hem on the bottom as well.

Nordstrom, Kristen Blake Belted Coat with Faux Fur Trim, $99
I love this utility coat with the faux leather detailing, and the hood is removable!

Modcloth, Euro Es-Cape Coat, $95
Hello stunner! I love this cape because it has a more structured look to it vs a poncho.

Dillard's Anne Klein Colorblock Belted Coat, $89
Personally, I'd pop the collar on this bad boy and add a beautiful cream scarf.

Adding a belt to a coat instantly adds an hourglass figure. And if you want, pull out the belt that comes with and add a slim belt of your own! I'd recommend a pop of neon or sparkle.
