I'm Bossy

Hey lovebugs!
Happy Monday to you. I'm just loving this weather right now. I enjoyed the weekend with walks with Norman and The Bf and enjoyed a cocktail or three at Lincoln.

Now we're back to work, and in order to turn that frown upside down, we're looking at embossed clutches. I love the look of embossing because it's high impact without a high price tag.

BCBG MaxAzaria, Harlow Clutch, $78
This beautiful neutral would dress up a pair of jeans or an LBD. I love the understated metal enclosure.

Banana Republic, Camilla frame clutch, $59
It's very difficult to find navy accessories that don't look like they belonged to your grandmother. This chic little bag is the perfect answer.

You can only find these in store because its sold out online, and for good reason. It is an essential four season clutch.

Nordstrom, Tarnish Plate Clutch, $64
What a beautiful blush bag. I love the metal details on the bottom edges.

Try an embossed bag when you need a little extra shimmer to an outfit. There is a color for every season in this trend.

The Not So Subtle Hint

Neon is still a big trend this fall and what better way to not break the budget then getting some great neon shoes? Here are a mix of flats and heels but they're all bright!

Target, Vivian Pointy Heel, $29
I told you I wouldn't break the bank! These babies will stop traffic too!

Nine West, Super Fly Shoes, $51
I like to call these chic weekend flats. They are the perfect pop of color to pair with bf jeans and a t shirt.

Nordstrom, BCBG Cielo, $58
You know that Justin Timberlake song; 'damn girl'. Yep.

I'm sorry, originally $200 now under $80. Mmmhhmm, did I deliver or what?

So as you can see, neon is not just for the warm weather. Keep mixing bright accessories in whenever you can all through the fall!

Headband Hold the Headache

Hey there lovebugs! I'm currently sitting on my couch under a blanket with the puppy in my lap after a successful day of getting caught in the rain at the dog park. How was your weekend?

As I've mentioned before, headbands are among my favorite in the accessory world, but here's the thing, I have a huge head. So huge. Often I get a a nasty headache by hour three of wearing my headband. The solution? The elastic headband. And I'm not talking about a gym ready elastic headband. Take a look at these sparklers.

Nordstrom, BP Beaded Headband, $18
Look at this beauty, the detail of the beading gives this a feathery look.

BCBG MaxAzria, Rhinestone Headband, $38
The gunmetal finish on this headband gives the rhinestones a tougher edge.

Anthropologie, Nella headband, $32
This stunner comes in a few colors but this teal is my favorite. Anthropologie always does the best romantic accessories.

Forever 21, Metallic Braided Headband, $1.80
Looking for something for the weekend? A no nonsense throw on and go with your bf jeans? Fork over two bucks and this is yours!

While I do have quite a collection of regular headbands, I adore elastic headbands for my mammoth head.

Not Your Average Pump

Now that it is starting to get chillier and we have to pull out the jeans and pants, why not spice up your feet with some bright pumps?

Nine West, Martina, $79
Well hello teal suede! Where have you been all of my life?

Urban Outfitters, UO Suede Pump, $49
I've been coveting these heels for months now. I love the sculptural heel and the round toe.

BCBG Taffi Wedge, $88
Ooo these suede wedges, so winter, so lovely.

Modcloth, Green of the Crop Heel, $52
These wedges are so fun. I love the forest green color.

So just because you put away your fave pedicure colors doesn't mean your feet can't have any fun! Try to spruce up your shoe wardrobe with bright colors!

Oversized Clutch

Happy almost Friday lovebugs!  I really loved those envelope clutches from Monday, so today we're going to talk oversized clutches.  A catch all but still sleek.

Chico's Safari Clutch, $79
You all know I'm not a huge fan of Chico's but this bag is fabulous!

Nordstrom, Hinge Ring Clutch, $98
I like how boho this bag is, very cute.

This reminds me of the envelope clutch from Monday, but the size makes such a statement.

Fantastic pattern and texture for fall!

So are you a squeeze everything into a tiny clutch girl? Or a catch all oversized kind of girl?

Foldover Clutch

Hey lovebugs!
I'm feeling something casual in a clutch.  Foldover is so chic and simple.

This is so perfect for weekend errands.  It matches everything!

Banana Republic, Stone foldover clutch, $70
Hello perfection!  White dress and this!

Metallic is so chic for a summer night.  It looks so sleek!

This is kind of masculine but in a 'go get it girl' kind of way!

I'm really loving this style of clutch.  Simple and elegant.  Try it for day or nighttime.

Silk Shift

Do you ever get tired of your cotton dresses? Not that there is anything wrong with them, but sometimes you want something a little more dressy and luxurious feeling. Which is wear silk comes in.

Forever 21, silk colorblock shift, $32
They really nailed it with this dress.  Great colors, great shape, nice hemline.  I might belt it but otherwise, just perfect.

Max Studio, silk chiffon pique shift, $98
I really like the casual confidence of this dress.  It's got very no nonsense.

Modcloth, Across the pond dress, $80
So much detail in one shift.  I love the square neckline against the soft scallops.

BCBG, ruffle silk shift, $80
How great would this be for a wedding?

I'm really liking silk shifts for summer because they are so easy to throw on and go.  They might be a bit pricier but I think the cost per wear makes them a great piece to add to your wardrobe.

Where the wild things are

Hey there lovebugs, happy hump day to you!  I hope you are having a great week!

Today I want to talk about a trend that isn't one of my go-to looks, but it will be making a comeback this summer.  Animal print.  While I may mix a leopard print shoe into my looks every now and then, I have never really embraced the animal print trend- until now.

I love this wavy zebra print in gray.  Really interesting pockets.

Ann Taylor, Ikat Leopard Top, $88
Only Ann Taylor could pull off a work appropriate button down in this print.  It's so chic!

Zappos, Anne Klein Fenton, $60
I'm obsessed with these.  Great print, stacked heel and rounded toe!

Let me tell you something, it is really difficult to find an animal print dress that doesn't make you look like a hot mess.  Now even though this model looks like she just woke up, the dress is really beautiful.  It's got a great neckline and a nice cinch at the waist.

So, animal prints are definitely a bold pattern to wear, especially between 9 and 5.  Personally, I'm more comfortable in stripes or polka dots but always try new prints because they might surprise you!

Whip Your Hair

Sometimes I wish I was Willow Smith.  Mostly because my father would be Will Smith (aka Hitch...aka my fave movie of all time) but also because she rocks.  A while ago we looked at some awesome rocker girl pieces and today I wanted use that inspiration for a trend ala Willow-- Whip my Hair.

Have you seen the video?  If not, just glance at  this pic.  Today I want to play with ultra-graphic prints.  Almost graffiti like.  Let's have some fun and let it whip.

Isabella Oliver, 365 limited edition top, $99
These colors look amazing together, and the sleeves are so light compared to the hard pattern.

This is rocker chick garden party.

This is a conversation piece. It's fresh and its edgy, I love it.

Converse, Paint Splatter Ox, $24
It is RARE that I feature sneakers.  In fact this is the first time ever.  But how much fun are these with boyfriend jeans?

This look is a bold one. If you're not loving it at first try the a more romantic style on this print like I featured here.  A big trend this Spring is color blocking, I think this is a fun twist on it!

Clutching

Hey lovebugs! Happy Monday to you.  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

Since last week we talked about your go-to bag, I wanted to give a little love to a night out bag, which for me it always a clutch.  I don't want anything over my shoulder, giving me a bicep work out while I'm out and about.  Clutches fit everything I need for a night out and they fit under your arm or on a table.

Here are my picks!

Urban Expressions, Sandra, $50
This one comes in lots of colors for you to choose.  I bet I could stuff everything I needed in there plus a camera.

Ralph Lauren, Acadian Clutch, $85
I'm loving the crocodile on this clutch, it's simple yet classic.

This is a handmade clutch with a silver clasp on the top.  I LOVE it for daytime weekend.

Angela Huse, Large clutch, $44
Love is an understatement with this pattern.  And it's an oversized clutch so put all you want in it!

I love sparkle and I LOVE this bag with skinny jeans or an LBD.

So that's what I would like in a clutch.  You don't need a bottomless pit purse for evening, in fact, it kinda makes you look crazy.  Put the essentials in a feminine clutch and you will be set for the night!  The best part about this style is that the fabrics, trends, and options are endless! There is a style for everyone.

Striped and Saturated

Today, DC is expecting...brace yourself...1-3 inches of snow.  OMG.  While that may seem like nothing- well it is.  But, DC has a tendency to freak out about snow much like a child before going to the dentist.

This cold weather makes me crave deep saturated colors to keep me warm and cozy.  I'm talking purples, merlots, chocolates, and burgundies.  But what I'm also loving with these deep, rich colors is stripes.  Something unexpected with an otherwise anticipated color palate.  Let me explain:

Calvin Klein, Striped ponte skirt, $69
Start with this fabulous pencil skirt and pair it with...

Jones NY, Tie Sweater, $35
Pair the stripes with this classic sweater with a feminine bow detail.

Start with this.  Look how the shoulder stripe extends to the top of the arm, giving you a beautiful neckline.

Canvas, slim leg cords, $19
These aubergine cords are delicious with a casual striped sweater! And the price? Hello, can we talk about the price?

Hey, it's stripes and sparkle.  Now pair it with these...

Aldo, Depalma Bordo, $58
Great heel, great color, perfect for a pedicure.

Aren't you loving stripes now?  Me too.  I think they are very underrated.  If you don't love thick stripes try it out in a nautical trend first and ease in.  Something like this.

Glee Fashion--Emergency Post

Ok, so I could on forever about Glee fashion, especially Emma's...(J Crew and Kate Spade heaven) but I must post on Gwyneth Paltrow's tweed skirt on tonight's episode. LOVE!

While her skirt was probably $482 here are some of my picks for the sassiest tweed minis out there!

Banana Republic, Tall jen tweed skirt, $64
High waisted dream

How is this skirt feminine with cargo pockets? Gorgeous.

Limited, piped waistline mini, $59
Sweet and pockets makes this the perfect work skirt.

Banana Republic, Knife Pleat Skirt, $35
Perfect for a silk blouse and a vest. Secretary in the best way possible.
