Needlepoint

Remember when embroidered shorts would bring up a slew of critter cotton shorts from JCrew? Those were the days. I'd like to think we've matured a little bit from those (don't get me wrong though, I still rock mine). But for a casual alfresco dinner, let's try something a little more mature.

Can't beat this price. I also like the pin tuck pleats at the waist.

Anthropologie, Pathway Embroidered Shorts, $39
Embroidery from Anthro for under $40. Don't wait on these shorts.

Topshop, Dotty Shorts, $65
Hands down my favorite of this bunch. I love the mix of colors and patterns.

Now these are something special. A lovely landscape of colorful flowers with a matching belt.

Spice up your shorts with something beautiful embroidery. These soft shorts will go great with a simple tee or dress it up with a cutaway back blouse.

Roughed Up Ruffles

Happy Monday lovebugs!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I'm dealing with Monday with ruffles. I love ruffles for spring because you can style it however you'd like. Ruffles don' have to be girly, dress it with moto boots or bf jeans.

One of the reasons I don't love the cold shoulder trend is the strapless bra situation it requires. This top? Not so much! It's perfect.

Mango, Ruffle T-shirt, $39
This top is a steal for under 40 bucks. Wear it for work or play.

Anthropologie, Shadowsong Ruffle Tee, $49
A great long sleeve option for this transitional weather period.

Nordstrom, BP Ruffle Front Tee, $29
Simple, easy, playful.

Ruffles no longer fall into the bows and polka dots category. Ruffles can be girly but they can also be gritty.

Riding My Pony

There are certain days of the week when I've slept on wet hair, or should have washed it the night before and it's just not looking... as they say... on fleek. So I turn to a ponytail, but why go with a boring hair tie? Dress up your tough hair day with a pony holder that shines.

Anthropologie, Bow Tied Pony Holder, $12
Just wow. Simple, feminine, and a touch decadent.

Its the simple things that make this unique. I'd get both gold and silver.

Feeling sassy? I'm planning to strut into the office on a Monday with this bad boy on.

Mark and Graham, Tortoise Ponytail Holder, $29
Preppy, classic, and personal.

So don't fret those bad hair days. Have some fun with them with these beautiful hair ties.

Workhorse Wrap

Happy Monday lovebugs,
I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I thought we would jump right into some workwear this Monday with a versatile staple that looks chic while going with everything in your closet. The wrap skirt. It's a great transition piece for chilly weather to spring because you can pair it with booties or sandals.

A simple print that can be styled with sneakers or sandals. Pair it with a tee or a sweater.

Wrap skirts aren't just for daytime. Check out this sexy stripe. Date night ready.

Anthropologie, Fornea Denim Wrap Skirt, $79
That 70s feel with crazy soft denim.

Simple, adjustable waist, great length. This skirt is just beautiful for work or play.

A wrap skirt even a faux wrap is great for spring. You can mix and match with cardigans, printed blouses, and t-shirts.

Coming Up Lace

It's mid-winter, are we getting tired of sweaters yet? Maybe a little. Why not mix it up with some feminine lace? I love lace for winter because its unexpected. You may think it's too chilly for lace, but layer it up! I've picked out some great long sleeve options that you can wear alone for date night or layer it with a blazer for work.

H&M, Lace Blouse, $39
So many wonderful things happening here, the first of which is the matching camisole is included. What else? Stand up collar, scalloped hem, and trumpet sleeves.

Pair this with pearls and wool pencil skirt or have some fun with a neon statement necklace and jeans.

I love this oversized lace pattern. Very well designed with a scoop neckline.

Anthropologie, Cinched Lace Top, $88
A new take on a simple lace blouse. An elastic waist cinching at your smallest part.

Traditionally winter might be sweater weather, but why not try some lace? It's not just for spring and summer. Mix it with a moto jacket or black denim to toughen up the feminine look.

Simply the Best

So often this time of year we go all out for that perfect holiday ensemble. Glitter, sparkle, plaid, velvet, it's certainly about the wow factor. So why not try something a little more delicate with the earring? Let's take a look at some beautiful minimalist earrings that will work perfectly with your stunning outfits this winter.

Anthropologie, Parenthetical Climber Earrings, $32
These will be your everyday earring. I love the gold knob detail.

BaubleBar, Ice Bar Studs, $24
The perfect pinch of sparkle with a busy fair isle sweater.

Stella & Dot, Marlin Earrings, $39
A super simple drop earring is all you need when wearing plaid.

Mix up your hoop earring game. Edgy spikes give this look the perfect oomph.

A simple but special earring is essential when you're dressing up for holidays or layering up for winter. I love these quiet but classic accessories.

The Game is Tied

I know we are in the thick of sweater weather but I have to throw in some options. I love a feminine tie neck blouse in the winter because it's great for layering. And when you are going from cold outside, to an overheated office, and then a cold conference room, you need options. Here are some of my favorite tie neck tops.

This to top is so sophisticated. The pin dots on the sheer sleeves make this top look much more expensive than it is.

I am pairing this with a navy blazer that is extra long. Very chic.

This will be a staple in your closet. Jeans, pencil skirt, suit, you name it. Check out the peplum detail on the waist.

Anthroplogie, Tie Neck Swing Blouse, $98
I really love this swing hem. It's more casual than you standard button down but this rich color makes it easy to dress up.

The tie neck blouse was inspired by menswear but these wispy tops are anything but. Play with pattern, color, and fit to find the perfect option for you.

Summertime Statement

Everybody loves a great statement necklace but when it's a bajillion degrees it's not exactly heavy necklace time. Today let's look at some summer appropriate statement necklaces. These beauties are are light, airy, and bring just the right amount of color.

Baublebar, Shoshanna Amulet Necklace, $42
This necklace dresses up ripped denim shorts and a tank top.

Sole Society, Tassel and Chain Necklace, $39
I'd pair this with white linen. Crisp and standout in a non-bling sort of way.

Anthropologie, Mystic Seas Bib Necklace, $58
This piece reminds me of seashells. I love it with a maxi dress.

This necklace brings the bling but the coral and mint tones are perfect for summer.

Summer accessories don't always need to be minimal and light, these statement necklaces dress up any outfit and they're under budget.

Not Fashion

I'm going to be honest, I love blogging about fashion. It's amazing, otherwise I wouldn't do it five days a week, 52 weeks per year. But sometimes I come across pretty things that you can't wear. Today I wanted to take a breather from fashion and show a set of things that have nothing to do with one another, but I think they are pretty and fun.

Nip and Tuck

Let's talk details. A simple detail that completely changes the look of an item: the pin tuck. It is such a quiet feature that today we will look at not on pants where you expect to see a pleat, but rather tops. A pin tuck detail on a blouse elevates a print or a solid with just a touch of something extra.

Anthropologie, Fluttered Maya Blouse, $59
What a beautifully organic print on this blouse. I love the flutter sleeves and it's machine washable.

And here we see a solid option. The tiny pleats are very delicate on this silk top.

Welp, this is already in my cart. Zoom in. Yes, those are tiny pugs.

This is the kind of top you keep around for all of your printed pant/skirt options. It's quiet but still has a lovely fitted look.

I don't think I need to say much about this trend. It's simple, works for any print or color, and it easy to find in any style.
