Excellent Espadrille

Summer is for espadrilles. But let's mix things up with an espadrille sneaker. Yep. Blending sporty and summer to create the comfiest and chicest shoe!

See what I mean? So cute and comfy!

Nordstrom, Keds Trip Deck Espadrille, $79 $59
White shorts, chambray dress, pick whatever you want and add these.

Dillard's, Toms Palmera Shoes, $44
Love your chambray shift? This is that in a shoe.

A great gold sneaker acts as a neutral. It's going to go with any print or pattern.

When fashionable meets comfy, everyone wins.

Bows and Bandwagons

Happy Monday lovebugs,
Today I'm giving in to a fall trend that I've seen everywhere. Blogs, magazines, you name it. I'm talking about the lace up flats. Yep. At first I was like, 'but what's wrong with my normal flats?' but then I started to understand that bit of detail the lace adds. I like them because they can go from work to play easily. Now, let's look at options.

Boden, Lille Lace-Up Point Flats, $138 $41
Didn't expect this price, did you? Stunning. In navy or orange as well but I'm picking up the silver for holiday parties.

Speaking of holiday shoes...these red flats. I'm pairing it with a sequin mini or black culottes for work.

A beautiful neutral that works with black or brown.

Lord and Taylor, Anne Klein Ottilia Leather Flats, $79 $53
And a standard, beautiful neutral. I really like the d'orsay style of this flat.

Have you jumped on the lace up flat bandwagon? I'm really digging these flats for comfort and style.

Design Darling, Turquoise Tassel Earrings, $98
If you haven't checked out Design Darling, you've been missing out. Blogger turned amazing online shop owner, this store is my go to for gifts.

Lord and Taylor, Anne Klein Goldtone Tassel Earrings, $26
A very feminine earring, even with the gold chain mesh.

Macy's, Thalia Sodi Gold Tone Blue Tassel Earring, $22
How playful are these earrings? Perfect for white jeans and a cocktail.

The Outnet, Kenneth Jay Lane Gold Plated Tassel Earring, $27
Hot pink, anyone? Heck yes.

A sassy tassel earring is just what your Friday night outfit needs. Simple, playful, and so much fun to wear.

I Do Declare

It's almost Friday, which means it's your LAST day to enter to win a $75 gift card to Nordstrom! Do it!

In other news, it's wrap dress day here. While there is no official holiday for wrap dresses, today we will make history, as of today, July 18, I declare it is wrap dress day. Let's celebrate with some printed wrap dresses.

Ann Taylor, Color Splash Wrap Dress, $59
This dress was originally $128 (woah, guys) but now score it for half that!

Anne Klein, Printed Wrap Dress, $79
I love this pattern. It's so summery and the colors are very Vineyard Vines.

This dress is different because it doesn't have a wrap around belt. Something unexpected.

Loving this deep blue print, a great rich color.

I hope you celebrate wrap dress day today and enter the blogiversary giveaway.

Black Tie Wrist

Happy Monday lovebugs,
I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I thought we could extend the weekend a little bit by looking at some glamorous items. Watches. Now, stay with me, there is a trend and style for every kind of watch, but the dressier options sometimes leave the wallet hurting. Today I'm thinking of a black tie inspired watch. Black, white, with silver or gold accents. Very versatile yet mature.

The silver and gold option is a great way to play with mixed metals.

This is understated bling. Don't get me wrong there is a time and place for a blinged out watch, but for something more workplace appropriate, this is a great option.

Fossil, Georgia Leather Watch, $95
I really like the snaffle bit detail on either side of the face, it makes this piece just a bit more interesting.

Urban Outfitters, La Mer oversized vintage watch, $85
CHeck out the crown on this watch (aka the time adjuster knobby) I love how it stands out next to this quite oversized face.

Watches are a very personal purchase. For me I wear the same one everyday, so it needs to be dressed up and down depending on the occasion. Finding something black and white or a tuxedo-style watch will make it easy for you to mix it into your wardrobe.

Slight of Hand

Who doesn't love a great bag? And with the ginormous fall fashion catalogs that are sitting on my coffee table I'm sure we'll have a ton to choose from this season. One trend that I'm really loving is the top handle bag. It's a corporate but can be styled in so many ways.

Hey don't forget to enter to win a $50 gift card to bauble bar! I'll announce a winner tomorrow.

An adorable cross body bag that offers a pop of color with it's utility.

Modcloth, Houndstooth or Dare, $59
This bag is so urban chic to me. A beautiful cold day brunch bag.

Piperlime, Nora by Melie Bianco, $79
I love the leather laced through the hardware on the strap there. It's that attention to detail that makes this bag a stunner.

Anne Klein, Ostravaganza, $85
Can't afford the real thing? Try this ostrich look that offers a million ways to wear it. My first choice would be to tie a silk scarf to it.

The top handle is so pretty when used with these bags because what's usually expected in a briefcase is transferred to a great purse.

Let's Not Go Camping

I hate camping. I hate being outdoors in general for extended periods of time. But there is one thing that combines that dreaded word and fashion: the camp shirt. I love this style, it is so easy to throw on and go, work, play and everything in between.

This 'lime pop' color is just gorgeous. It also comes in a beautiful teal.

As Lord and Taylor describes this shirt: utilitarian chic. I couldn't agree more. An eye chatting pattern in a great silk blend.

Yeah, you read that right, $12. Thanks Old Navy, you really rock this season.

I like the side slits on this blouse that give the hem a rounded edge. The pebble pattern is busy but I'd pair it with some bright bottoms.

Camping blows. Camp shirts do not. They are light, breezy and affordable.

Happy Wednesday lovebugs!

Nine West, Ambitious, $69
How great are these with a rounded toe? Perfect with a pencil skirt.

Roxy, Malibu, $44
I love these wedges because they work with any color for summer.  Pair with shorts, a dress, jeans, whatever.

Matisse, Paloma Black, $65
Feeling brave? These show stoppers would go with any LBD!!!!

Anne Klein, Pipa, $69
I love these dainty kitten heels.  Fabulous color palette and great attention to detail.  Note the ribbon knot on the back.

Watch yourself!

This post is a bit of research I'm doing for my good friend Amy.  Amy is looking for her bf to get her a watch for Christmas, but a watch is a very serious purchase and one not to be taken lightly.  It is one of a few accessories that you will probably wear every single day and have for quite some time.  So this is a big deal.

Watches have more styles than than RuPaul has wigs, so it can be a bit daunting.  If you're buying a watch for  someone make sure you take note of what kind of jewelry he or she wears.  Is it chunky, silver, gold, plastic, preppy, rocker?  Take that into a account when making your purchase.

While I could spend all day listing watches, these picks are ones I think Amy would love.  Do you have something on your list you'd like me to research? Great! Email, tweet, or comment it to me and I'd love to get started on it!

Also lovebugs- tomorrow is Friday Foodday so send me those recipes!

Urban Outfitters, typewriter initial watch, $28
How adorable is this? Dainty face with a masculine band.

I like this one because it's no nonsense.  Chic and functional.

Anne Klein, Silver Tone Easy to Read, $55
I would make sure to try this one on in the store because if the circular face is too big on your wrist its going to drive you nuts.

Fossil, Berkley pink, $95
Colorful plastic seems to be a huge trend in watches right now.  I like this one because It's sturdy enough to wear with a suit.

Anne Klein, 10-9304, $59
This might as well be a bracelet. I just love it. It's gorgeous.  It looks like something you'd see at an estate sale or an antique store.

Suit Up!

Yesterday I told you what I wore to an event on the Hill. But what I didn't do is give you some options for suits that aren't stuffy! Now, this goes above my less than $100 rule for this blog but suits are a little more expensive, and if they fit correctly they're a piece you can break up and where for a very long time. Hope you enjoy!

JC Penny, Nine & Co 5 button skirt suit, $79.99
I'd pair with red heels to break it up, and use the blazer with jeans for casual Fridays

(I love this tie!)

Anne Klein, Taupe Plaid Suit, $142.99

(I LOVE the seaming on the waist of this jacket and the one button)

The Limited, Novelty Suit, together $142.74

Tahari, Bow Collar Jacket with Belt and Skirt, $139.99
And My favorite! Feminine, belted, skirt, and sale!!!
