Into the Jungle

Feeling wild on hump day? Yeah, me too. I'm itching for the weekend and that's got me thinking about going out bags. I love a great clutch because they hold just the essentials and can really make an outfit. Today I thought we would look at a real eye catcher, the leopard clutch.

Dorothy Perkins, Leopard Structured Clutch Bag, $29
Can't beat this price for a great bag that looks expensive.

A metallic sheen makes this clutch stand out.

This bag has a disco feel to it. I love the patent leather cap.

Kate Spade, Mullins Place Pouch, $99
Pink glitter and leopard. I'll just leave this here.

So if you're feeling something small and fantastic, look no further than a classic leopard clutch. It goes with everything and is a great four season bag.

Give Me A "P"!

It is almost time for the long weekend. I thought we should have some fun with a playful purse that is full of poms. Yes, pom poms.

Spring, Camel by Aldo, $55
This bag is such a party. How can you not have fun wearing this?

Super soft pebble leather makes this bag extra luxurious.

Poms AND tassels? Sign me up.

Charming Charlie, Pom Wristlet, $19
And for something under 20 bucks. Love the white with the bright colors!

Have some fun with your bags this summer. Try a pom pom or a tassel with a pop of color.

Structurally Sound

Everyone needs a sturdy top handle bag to have as a grab and go closet staple. No matter the shape or size, this silhouette is no nonsense bag that instantly pulls together any look.

What did I tell ya? Perfect.

Does the orange terrify you? Pair it with a navy scarf tie on to tone it down.

Really can't beat this price for such a ladylike blush bag.

I love this bag because it's a classic. I love this bag more because it's two toned. Turn it to the side and, bam!

A simple and structured bag is great for Monday through Friday. You can throw everything in and no one will know.

I'm Glossy

Happy Monday lovebugs,
Are you feeling a little sleepy this morning? I am. Could have used one more weekend day. But alas, let's pump up the coffee and look at some high gloss bags. Bags that don't scream with color or pattern but rather shine.

Shoptiques, Olive Clutch, $69
Hello gorgeous. Oh my. Look at this geometric beauty! And that gold shoulder chain? Yes.

Aldo, Scotti, $85
A few weeks ago we looked at gorgeous top handle bags, and this one also fits the bill.

Express, Patent Bowler Bag, $59
I love this for a travel purse. Fits my laptop and I can use the shoulder strap. The nude color matches any outfit.

This isn't just a navy clutch, it's a sapphire clutch. It's sophisticated and chic and it's perfect for a night out or to throw into a larger bag.

Add some high gloss and shine to your bag rotation. These beauties are eye catching without being show stealing.

Paint Me Pastel

Last week we looked at a blush pastel dress that works for summer without looking like a bridesmaid. Today let's look at some pastel options in bags. Pastel colors are prefect for summer because like the weather they're sunny and you can throw them on with just about any print or color you can think of. Think of a pastel as that person you could talk to at a party all night without looking at your watch.

Just yes. You know in Forgetting Sarah Marshall when Paul Rudd tells Jason Segel to do less when he's surfing? This is that in a bag. And it works. Do less. It works. Oh so well.

Dillard's, Fossil Erin Shoulder Bag, $68
You know who makes a solid, timeless bag? Fossil. They always seem to capture the utility and the style of right now. Oh and it's $30 off.

Nasty Gal, Sabrina Tote, $45
If you looked up Adorable in the dictionary this would be the accompanying image. The white piping is so mod and not pictured is the shoulder strap.

Aldo, Shields, $45
A chic and feminine mix of colors with a great gold accent. This is sundress ready.

Pastels are an obvious choice for warmer weather, but instead of jewelry or blouses, try it in a bag!

Don't Be That Girl

New Year's Eve is a night where comfortable shoes are a must. Whether you are dancing the night away or being a social butterfly at a friend's party, or even out to dinner with your beau. Do not be that girl in a beautiful dress carrying her shoes. Do not be that girl. I find the best shoes for a special night out are metallic. Bring the bling and they match pretty much anything.

Nordstrom, Ivanka Trump Indico Pump, $99
A nice mid-heel is perfect for a night on the dance floor. These remind me of a modern day Cinderella.

Urban Outfitters, Report Murphy Scaled Heel, $99
The stacked heel will save your heels even after the clock strikes 12.

1. Uh-dorable
2. You can basically be Fergie
3. The price

Aldo, Kveta, $38
This t-strap is a great design to save your feet, the silver pointy toe is just extra.

Don't get me wrong sometimes I do believe in the phrase beauty is pain, but not when you're getting kissed at midnight. Give your feet a break, let your dress do the work tonight.

I Can See Clearly Now

Happy humpday lovebugs,
Today we're take a peek through the looking glass, and the future looks clear my friends. Lucite is an odd yet intriguing trend right now and I'm loving it for shoes.

I think of this as a sexy Cinderella glass slipper.

Aldo, Darelbeida, $100
How much fun are these? And dare I say they look comfortable?

And to make up for the $100 price tag above, I give you a $15 flat.

These conversation starters also come in black. Tights or no tights, they're so much fun.

What are your thoughts on lucite? Are you in or prefer to keep things covered up.  See what I did there? Covered, clear, ok if you have to explain it, it's not as funny.

Studly Sandals

Let's look at some bad ass sandals. Studded. Embellished is always nice but sometimes you want something with a little more edge.

Lord and Taylor, Enzo Angiolini Trendon Sandal, $59
A great price for these chic and sassy sandals. I'd pair these with some of yesterday's printed pants!

Steve Madden, Bravery, $79
These look surprisingly comfortable for a day of walking around the city. The red leather would go with everything.

Wear these and you will rock them. They are not holding anything back.

Aldo, Exit, $50
Simple, to the point and goes with just about anything you want to wear this summer.

So are you feeling edgy? These studded flat sandals are certainly one way to leave your flip flops at home and spice things up.

Gold Details

Happy Monday lovebugs.  I don't know about you but this weekend seemed a day too short.  I hope yours was enjoyable!

Today I want to zero in on one of my favorite details- gold.  When I wear gold I feel like a lady because my mom always wore gold and growing up this metal is what I equated with maturity, class and elegance.

Gold jewelry would be an easy post, but I'm getting more specific.  Gold hardware. Belt buckles, buttons, etc.

Rebecca Minkoff, Brooke Sandal, $99
These gold buckles add just the right amount of bling to these otherwise sassy heels.

Wow.  The gold detail right by the shoulder, just wow.

Aldo, Teem, $55
Ok Aldo, this is Cole Haan meets Birkin meets Kors, well done.

Michael Kors, Light Brown Leather Studded Cuff, $53
Motorcycle hard and sophisticated chic.

I really love gold details because it grounds an outfit.  Gold details give any outfit the class that you always envy your mother for.

Striped and Saturated

Today, DC is expecting...brace yourself...1-3 inches of snow.  OMG.  While that may seem like nothing- well it is.  But, DC has a tendency to freak out about snow much like a child before going to the dentist.

This cold weather makes me crave deep saturated colors to keep me warm and cozy.  I'm talking purples, merlots, chocolates, and burgundies.  But what I'm also loving with these deep, rich colors is stripes.  Something unexpected with an otherwise anticipated color palate.  Let me explain:

Calvin Klein, Striped ponte skirt, $69
Start with this fabulous pencil skirt and pair it with...

Jones NY, Tie Sweater, $35
Pair the stripes with this classic sweater with a feminine bow detail.

Start with this.  Look how the shoulder stripe extends to the top of the arm, giving you a beautiful neckline.

Canvas, slim leg cords, $19
These aubergine cords are delicious with a casual striped sweater! And the price? Hello, can we talk about the price?

Hey, it's stripes and sparkle.  Now pair it with these...

Aldo, Depalma Bordo, $58
Great heel, great color, perfect for a pedicure.

Aren't you loving stripes now?  Me too.  I think they are very underrated.  If you don't love thick stripes try it out in a nautical trend first and ease in.  Something like this.
