Perfect Pants for Perfect Weather

Let's look at a casual and comfortable pant that is great for spring. The green chino. It's effortless and machine washable which for me, is pretty much all you need in life.

A great wide waistband that is well structured and yet relaxed.

Loving this outfit. A slight roll and ankle strap heels!

A steal of a pant right now. Under $20? Fantastic.

Talbots, The Weekend Chino, $79
A lighter green but not quite pastel. You can match it to anything.

Sure we are itching to wear our dresses, but these chinos are perfect for spring!

Cardigans for Cool Conference Rooms

I've been at a conference yesterday and today and it's been unsurprisingly frigid in the meeting rooms. But what's a girl to when it's May and 75 degrees outside but approximately 32 inside? You get your cardigan. While sweater weather is over, the spring cardigan is a great layering piece for those unexpected chilly moments.

A pop of yellow is always welcome in the springtime. This cardigan is fitted and slim which is great for a printed card.

Banana Republic, Merino Boyfriend Cardigan, $78
A lovely lightweight merino is great in a staple color like a washed gray.

As the description states - preppy meets practical. Amen.

Ann Taylor, Open Cardigan, $69
Always have an open cardigan in your closet. They are great for travel and cold meeting rooms.

Spring cardigans have a great place in my rotation. Over cooled offices and conference rooms will never win against a light cardi.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is my mom's birthday! Have a happy, mom! Technically she's a leap year baby, but we celebrate today. So without further ado, everything she would love and I'd love to get her if I had an unlimited budget.

Nordstrom, Adelyn Rae Culotte Jumpsuit, $98 $58
Mom and I spent the last year on Weight Watchers, and let me tell you, she looks amazing. She should show it off in this killer navy jumpsuit.

Mom's super into a statement necklace, and I think this olive green would be perfect with her skin tone.

Extra points for texture. I love this top because you can pair it with any print.

My mom has excellent shoe taste, especially when it comes to flats. She would rock these.

Happy birthday to the best lady I know!

Joy to the Sweater

We are in sweater weather so why not have some fun with it? I love a cheeky graphic sweater with a great print. It's cute, simple, and easy to dress up for a party with the right accessories.

Nordstrom, Winking Santa Pullover, $98
Who needs an ugly Christmas sweater when you can wear this adorable knit?

Because isn't that what it's really all about this season?

Great layering here. It doesn't get any cuter than a penguin in earmuffs.

Magical, whimsical, awesome.

A printed pullover sweater is great for a quick outfit or great for layering. Holiday prints make them even better.

Elephant Man

A few weeks ago we looked at all things flamingos. Today I thought we would take a walk on the wild side and look at elephants! They're fun, summery, and a great print for weekend fun.

Bloomingdale's, AQUA Elephant Tie Waist Dress, $88
Just beautiful. Split neck, short sleeves, great silhouette.

Pink critter shorts? Oh heck yeah.

Talbots, Elephant Sweater, $79
Elephants that are work ready? Loving this short sleeve sweater for chilly summer offices!

Crew Factory, Kissing Elephants T-shirt, $25
Simple, chic, breezy. I love this for summer.

Flamingos, dogs, elephants, you name the animal, I think it looks great. These elephant pieces are unique and quirky.

Stop and Smell the Statement

May flowers. Love them. Let's wear them. Floral statement necklaces are bold, season specific, and colorful for all summer long!

Talbots, Bouquet Necklace, $79
I love how non-blingy this necklace is. It's colorful and almost vintage looking. Great heavy chain as well.

Spring perfection in a necklace. These flowers have a cotton candy feel to them.

Shoptiques, Classy Floral Necklace, $29
Unclear what a 'not classy' floral necklace looks like, but this one is gorgeous. I love the pearlescent colors.

A delicate double strand really balances the punchy flowers.

A great warm weather accessory that is fun and easy to add to a button down shirt, tee, or dress! Floral statement necklaces come in all sorts of colors, styles, and most importantly, prices.

Cat's Got Style

Ok sun, so glad you've joined us. DC has tolerated weeks of rain and I recently had to find my sunglasses. Find! That's how long it's been! So it's time to spruce things up. Let's play with some cateye shades that are eye catching and classic.

I love this color contrast. It's simple and goes with everything but still stand out.

Not into colors? Try these clear shades on for size.

Urban Outfitters, Terrace Cateye Sunglasses, $18
An angular pair that would work for rounder face shapes.

Oh heck yes, ombre lenses? Sign me up.

So bring on the sunshine. I've got my sassy shades ready.

Wear Your Heart on Your Sleeve

We have a lovely holiday coming up this weekend. Valentine's Day. If you haven't figured out your outfit, be sure to check out my night in or out looks from last week's All In post. In the meantime I love an excuse to wear hearts, polka dots, you name it. So in honor of V Day, let's look at some hearts.

Who sweet is this sweater? I love the layered look and I love the ombre red to pink hearts.

So classy. This preppy seater is perfect for work or play.

A loose fitting sweater with a ladylike pop of color. What an adorable top.

Modcloth, Poodles of Fun Sweater, $39
Dog lovers rejoice. Fashion, fun, love.

So don't be blue this Valentine's Day. Wear your heart on your sleeve.

Don't Sweat It

You guys, it's hot. Like really hot. Like can I stay inside and binge on Gilmore Girls all day hot. Sometimes this type of heat needs a relaxed, simple, weekend look that is no fuss. I'm loving a lightweight striped skirt for weekend wear. Throw on a simple tee or tank and you're ready to go.

This is weekend wear. Elastic waist, pockets, cotton, and under 15 bucks.

Something a little longer but with a playful side slit.

Say it with me: linen. Linen is even cooler than cotton. I love the multicolor stripe.

And a foldover option with a chevron stripe gives this skirt some movement.

Weekend wear for summertime isn't always glamorous. Leave the layers at home and try a lightweight skirt that is cool and simple.

Pencil Pusher

You know what item doesn't get enough credit? The pencil skirt. It's a hard working piece in your closet that can pull a look together in an instant. Think about it: the button down shirt, the cardigan, the t shirt! Slap on the pencil skirt and instant chic. Today we're looking at the patterned pencil. Let's see what a print adds to this staple.

These aren't polka dots ladies, these are stars. Ha! A gorgeous purple with black stars.

This color works for fall because its a mustard yellow rather than a buttery yellow. I love it with this soft t shirt.

Talbots, Textured Floral Skirt, $31
Originally $110 this skirt is a steal and it packs a punch.

Piperlime, Three Dots Fitted Skirt, $75
This is your comfort pencil. No zippers or clasps, just cotton with a hint of spandex.

Let's give the pencil skirt some credit, it does a lot for my closet, what about yours? Oh and did I mention all of these picks are $75 and under? Not too shabby.
