Rock it Out

Ever feel like releasing your inner Kelly Clarkson?  You know that sassy rocker girl who is so confident she could wear a paper bag down the street and still look fabulous.  She's a little dangerous, a little rebellious and a lot fabulous.

I know you rock out to your iPod in the shower but it's time to work it down the street.  Try some of these rocker-inspired looks to spice up your day and your confidence!
Mocloth, Quick stud-y heel, $79
So many options for this!!!! jeans, pencil skirt, even a floral dress like Modcloth put it with!

Forever 21, Fab leatherette skirt, $12
If I see this anytime between the hours of 9am and 5pm I will be so so disappointed in you.  This is for girls night only!

Delicate rock chic.

Of course you need the rocker girl version of a cocktail ring!

And finally some ultra rocker nails!!! Thank you Katy Perry!

So are you feeling bold, loud, and ready to rock? I hope so.  This is such a fun way to mix up a wardrobe that might be wound a little too tightly.

Be fabulous today!

Pop that bootie

Well from all of those comments on Friday, I would say we have some sweet toothed readers!

Today I want to talk about booties.  Not KC and the Sunshine "shake your booty" but rather the newest boot/shoe/heel trend.  I know I'm a bit late on the bandwagon but I had yet to decide if I loved booties for everyday wear.  Then I put on my outfit for work today and thought 'wow I really need a pair of black booties to make this outfit'.  So there, I'm on the wagon.

Here are my picks!

Gabriella Rocha, Alick, $60
You will NEVER have a case of the Mondays with these!

Franco Sarto, Sync, $71
I like these in gray because you can experiment with patterned and colored tights

Nordstrom, Mayfield, $99
How sweet are these?

Modcloth, quadro-chic wedge, $89
Maybe a little too casual for the office but killer with skinny jeans!

Forever 21, Peep toe booties, $28
These are sleek, ready to wear, with anything.

I've got the blues

So often people avoid blue because they only think of blue as navy.  Navy, while a great neutral and a staple for any wardrobe can be lack luster.  But why stop at navy? Blue is a jewel tone and it has the ability to make your skin tone shine or make your eyes pop.

Embrace blue this holiday season.  It's rich, and it's luxurious.  Stay with the deeper hues, a pale or pastel blue may look out of place this winter- unless of course its cashmere.

Hello chic! This vest is four season.  Layer it up now and pair it with a favorite tank in the summer.

Forever 21, sequin mini skirt, $29
Not for work.  Ever.  But absolutely Saturday night.

Dillards, Giana Bini Blouse, $40
So feminine.  Ruffled and delicate.

Yes its deep navy but- a phrase to live by: There is never an event to small to wear a big bow.

Not too coy, blue chico, $84
There are no words for the extreme sassiness of this shoe.

The Interview

There are few things that are more terrifying in this world.  There are few things you stress over and analyze more.  The interview is pretty much your life, your abilities, and why you are deserving of anything in 30 minutes of less. Yeah, no pressure.

What's your biggest weakness? When was the last time you were a leader? What kind of team player are you?  Stressed? Me too. Luckily, I have a job. But it's my sister that's going for one.  Side note to any employers of non-profits out there: she rocks.  Hire her.  That aside, I wanted to give her some outfit ideas for an interview.

Lots of companies require a suit for an interview, I however, believe that really limits your creativity. If it is a large corporation by all means suit it up, but if not, have some fun with it!

Look 1
I love this cardi.  The color is vibrant and the cut is flattering for a embellished tee of button down/

Banana Republic, Tuxedo Tunic, $69.50
Pretty unexpected to pair with a cardi huh? That's the idea! Make them remember you.

Target, TRS Pencil Skirt, $19.99
Who says you need to spend a lot to pull together an outfit?

Look 2

Modcloth, Mod About You, $65
I know, it looks bland but those zippers? Plus add some color...

Old Navy, Mohair blend cardigan, $18
"I liked that girl in the bright pink sweater...what was her name again?" Yep.  It happens.

Want to go more conservative with black pants or maybe a navy suit? That's ok! Wear a statement shoe.

Calvin Klein, Wynette Citron Patent, $76
Trust me.  With a calm outfit this will make it pop!

Heels heels heels

Today as is my final day with the left foot I was born with. Dramatic? Yes. Lies? Nope.

As I mentioned yesterday, tomorrow I will have a bunion removed from my foot. Now for those of you who are wondering what will happen, I will tell you. Or I'll just tell you anyway because I want sympathy.

They will break the base of my big toe bone and shave off the excess bone. Super gross. I'll be in a really stylish walking boot for 30 days and hopefully will not need crutches. I've read it's a fairly painful recovery so let's give a big round of applause to the BF for his future nursing dedication to me over the next week. Wooooohooooo!

Today's post is dedicated to beautiful heels. Dressy heels, casual heels, work heels, kitten heels, all heels. Wear them proudly, roll your shoulders back and embrace your beauty in heels. Heels that I too will wear with you ASAP.

Nine West, Ambitious, $68
Every woman should own one pair of gorgeous red heels. I like these because they're a deep wine color and the texture is just beautiful

Nine West, Frenuous Grey, $63
never underestimate the power of a good kitten heel. Especially one with this much personality.

Modcloth, Yes I Twill, $63
Very Mad Men. Chic, Professional with a mod flare.

Mossimo, kamiah, $30
This shoe is dying for a mini skirt.

Merona, Reta Platform, $33
Can we all visualize this with a chocolate brown cord skirt and a chunky knit white sweater? Oh yes.

Kate Spade, Twirl Karolina, $350
Hey a girl can dream right?

Parisian Prep

This weekend I was reading my Elle when I came across a great new trend that I love. Parisian prep. Of course I loved all of Elle's suggestions but spending $450 on a cardigan is just a touch out of my budget. So I wanted to give you all some ideas on what I had in mind on a more TCB related price point!

Modcloth, Gift of Gab, $57.99
I really like this cardigan because of the v-neck. And the bow is outlined in sequins!

As the title suggests: seasonless. It should also say timeless.

Forever 21, Denim Naval Blazer, $32

Naturalizer, Cognac leather heel, $49.99
Wait what? Naturalizer, like the old lady shoe? Yes. Look at the detailing and the bow and the kitten heel. Yes!

Halogen, Silk ruffle blouse, $39.90
Simple and elegant, also a great waist hem so it doesn't cling.

Also TCBers:
As we have gotten closer over the last few months I thought you should know about something going on in my life this week. Bunionectomy. Yes. Get excited. Because this week, in addition to lovely fashion finds, I will also be doing a new segment called.......(drumroll)......
Bunion Watch 2010
Now, before you read any further, I would like to caution you with one thing: please please please if you want to know more about what a bunion is, do not, for any reason whatsoever, google image bunion. OMG it is so gross to look at people's nasty feet. Please, stick to WebMD and the like.

So, Wednesday, I will be having surgery on my foot to remove a bunion. Why? Well one because it hurts like crazy and two because I haven't been able to fit my foot in a heel for months. So sad. For today's bunion watch post I wanted to show you why this surgery is important.

This is a pretty shoe:
This is a shoe I would love to wear with a black pencil skirt patterned tights and a white cardigan. But I can't because my foot just hates me.

This is what I have been wearing for the last 6 months:
It's fine. But that's just it. It's just fine. Nothing wow about it, just gets the job done.
So, surgery is Wednesday. Get ready.

Work (it) Dresses

Today is a rainy Thursday. Major bummer. But the good news is it's almost Friday Foodday so send me your recipes asap lovebugs!

One of my favorite go to work outfits is a dress. Its simple, quick, and never goes out of season. Some people are strict and stick only to suiting dresses, which is fine but sometimes a little out of my price range. Here are some of my picks:

Modcloth, CEO Dress, $59.99
Appropriately titled for this post don't you think? I love the feminine ruffle on this and the belting will make sure the va-voom hourglass shape is recognized.

I love wrap dresses and I love the sleeve length on this one. Please just repeat this entire outfit with the same tights and heels.

A little more expensive but I just love the colors in this one.

Is there a bad thing to say about this dress? The price rocks, its comfortable, kind of Jackie O and professional!

Newport News, Little Black Dress, $49
*Warning: Only wear this dress if you are prepare to work it*

3 Day Weekend!

Hi There!
Its almost Friday, and you know what that means? You guessed right! Friday Foodday. Yes. Awesome. Great news. Send in your recipes via email, tweet or comment. Don't be shy, as long as it doesn't include tofu or pesto send it in because I bet it's delish!

Now, onto today. It's a three day weekend soon and that means comfy clothes, maybe a great Saturday night or hey Sunday night (off Monday, I won't tell anyone, get it girl) outfit. So let's review.

Canvas, Argyle Cardigan, $47.99
I love this cardi, it's preppy, it's nautical, and it would look great with jeans, a cord skirt, boots, or belted

J Crew, Glass ornament earrings, $29.99
Hellooo glam.

Modcloth, Musical stairs dress, $44.99
Perfect for running around or enjoying the beautiful day. Comfy and perfect for bright shoes.

I LOVE white button downs on the weekend. Casual chic and it goes with everything and if it feels to boring wrap it with this:

J Crew, Studded bar car belt, $19.99
With this, a crisp white shirt and omg pearls? love.

Old Navy, Waffle Knit Lounge Pant, $12.50
OK, normally I do NOT endorse loungewear- but it's a 3 day weekend, sleep in and catch up on your DVR in these.

A little chilly

It's Thursday, which means tomorrow is Friday Foodday! Send me your recipes via comment, email or tweet please!

Today it's a little chilly but not quite jacket or fleece weather so today I want to feature some scarves. They are a great accessory for Fall and they can be very versatile from outfit to outfit. Here are some of my favorites:

Old Navy, Multi-color mohair scarf, $16.50
I love this with denim or a blazer

Nordstrom, Bindya geometric jersey scarf, $38
The jersey material makes this great for mild temps

Modcloth, Haiku scarf, $24.99
This one is so sweet and feminine, almost vintage looking

Macy's, Echo scarf chiffon zebra, $18.99
With jeans OR a little black dress!

Mini Party

Tonight I will be celebrating one my friend's birthdays with a happy hour at La Tasca with a ridiculous amount of sangria. In honor of these festivities let's have a mini-party right here right now!

Also kids, don't forget to comment, email, or tweet me your recipes for Friday Foodday!

Mini-Party

The bfs best sangria mix: CHEAP red wine and sparkling lemonade. That's it! No floating seeds or piece of fruit getting stuck in your teeth. No sticky fingers or waiting for the fruit to soak up the liquid. Just amazing sangria. Try it, you'll thank me later.

Next is the tapas; not my favorite, in fact I hate tapas because I don't like sharing food and I don't like teeny plates of food. Give me a big ol' plate of anything any day. But 63 tiny plates of one piece of something. Skip it. BUT if I were to make my own tapas here's what I would do:
The Spanish Omelet
  • 6-7 medium potatoes, peeled
  • 1 whole yellow onion
  • 5-6 large eggs
  • 2-3 cups of olive oil for pan frying
  • Salt to taste
  • Lots of bacon (lots is the correct kitchen term if you were wondering)

If I wasn't feeling large and in charge this week, I would show up in this:

Modcloth, Artificer Dress, $65

Jessica Simpson, Jessica pumps, $69

Etsy.com, Decadent Delinquent Earrings, $15

Happy Thursday everybody! See you for Friday Foodday!
