Rounding Up

It's shorts season but sometimes they can feel a bit dull. How do you dress up shorts without spending an arm and a leg? Scallops. This simple detail will elevate your look and make you feel feminine and dressy.

Club Monaco, Amber Chambray Short, $69
The definition of easy. Your go to short that looks effortless and put together.

Lilly Pulitzer, Buttercup Scallop Hem Short, $68
How can you not have fun in these shorts? They scream party.

Crisp and classic. Pair this with a cotton ribbed tank or a  gingham button down.

Let me tell you something. These are no $34 shorts. These merlot beauties are going to carry you through the end of September.

While I tend to stock up on Old Navy chino shorts, sometimes it's helpful to mix in something different. It makes you feel...well, different. And different is good.

Navy Baubles

Hey lovebugs, happy Monday. How was your weekend? I saw a ton of ladies sporting great warm weather clothes this weekend and I couldn't be more excited to start wearing my dresses and short sleeves.

Today I was inspired by a page in Lucky magazine; I spotted this great navy bauble and I thought how often do we search for navy jewels? Not very often right? But why not? Navy is a great color to mix in and especially in an accessory.

These are a great dangle earring, I picture it with a hot pink blouse of an orange shirtdress.

Lilly Pulitzer, Upscale Bangle, $58
Gotta have some Lilly in your summer wardrobe.

Neiman Marcus, Panacea Cabochon Hoop Earrings, $36
Fun fact: I want my wedding colors to be navy and orange. These earrings just called out to me, I love em.

Bauble Bar, Elliptic Bib, $24
This nautical inspired piece would be perfect for a white eyelet summer dress.

Do you mix in navy to your accessories? It's such a great neutral staple that still adds some interest to your outfit.

Ribbon Belts

They're making a come back.  I know, I know, they can seem a little juvenile but trust me, they're SO versatile!  And when the Wall Street Journal talks about fashion, we should listen.

As the uber-preppy J McLaughlin says:  "It's for the fashion-secure person with a sense of humor."

Vineyard Vines, Palm beach plaid d-ring belt, $29
Ah, vineyard vines, the prepsters heaven.  If you want to rock this look- best to go to the pros.

Etsy (Tracey Belt), reversible vintage belt, $16
I'm loving the new take on what's usually a classic d-ring style.  And reversible is always a win.

I love this pattern! So elegant, and it the color combination is cheerful.

Lilly Pulitzer, Callie Belt, $48
I really like the beachy feel of this belt.  Would be a great addition to a cotton slub dress.

So what do you think?  It is definitely a preppy type of style but I think it can be styled in many different ways.  It's a nice substitute to the plain leather belt for the summer.

Update Your 9 to 5

I have a confession: I love stationary, pens, and any other form of personalized office supply. There. It's out. Now, let's shop for it!

My go to notepads at work aren't your average Mead notebooks. Instead I prefer Kate Spade. (Try to act surprised) These notepads fit in a purse, aren't super bulky and the neon colors keep me alert and perky.

Kate Spade, Small Notepad Set, $12

Filing can be a mundane task, especially if have a giant stack of papers staring at you; but with these girly and totally chic folders, your afternoon is looking up!

The Office Stylist, Sprial Design File Folders, $9.95

Let's face it, Bic pens are boring and so is the drawer you keep them in. So let's jazz it up. First the pen holder that I'm obsessed with:

The Office Stylist, Mirror Mirror Pen Cup, $14.95

And the pens

Barnes and Noble, Jonathan Adler Weight & Teal Green Metal Pen Set, $13.95

Now the mouse pad. Some people like the monogram, my bf used Zazzle to make me a custom mouse pad with my main squeeze, Sam dog on it; but another fun option is the notepad mouse pad. Need to make a quick note? Wanna write down a phone number for later? Try this Lilly Pulitzer note mouse pad:

Preppy Princess, Lilly Pulitzer Take Note Mouse pad, $15

I'm also a fan of decking out your cubicle so it's a place that you actually want to do work in. I used different ribbons and push pins to argyle some fun colors and patterns along the walls of my cube. And don't forget pictures! Instead of frames that collect dust, use colored construction paper and make your own to put up!

Just because you're in a 9-5 doesn't mean it has to look like it. Have some fun and personalize your office life!
