All In: Back to Books

Hey there lovebugs,
I hope you had a wonderful long weekend. Since yesterday was a holiday, we'll continue the All In trend today. Since some of us may be headed back to school this week, I thought we could do a first day back outfit. Remember it's all in for $100.

Simple and playing with pattern, this outfit says casual chic.

Chi-don't you know?

One of my favorite styles of pant is the chino. It's clean and simple, easy to care for and you can wear it with anything. Let's look at some good standards to add to your wardrobe.

Lands End Canvas, True Slim Chino, $59
You really can't beat the price with such a vibrant color.

Loft, Girlfriend Chino, $59
A gf chino? It's got the relaxed leg but more fitted through the hip.

J Crew, Waverly Chino, $79
A good standard from J Crew, they do the chino very well.

These come in a rainbow of colors but I'm loving the oxblood.

Machine washable, plenty of colors, and plenty of styles. The chino is a great investment piece that won't break the bank.

Go Ahead, Touch Me

You know what's cozy but also sexy this time of year? Velvet. A few weeks ago we looked at velvet purses but today let's look at some clothing.

Anthropologie, Tailored Velvet Blazer, $99
The tuxedo feel to this blazer truly makes it something special.

Lands End Canvas, Velvet Market Dress, $99
This fully lined dress it just perfect for a holiday party. I love the richness of this green!

Let's talk about these pants. A wide band waist, a slim cut, an ankle length, flat front pockets. Ah, they're divine.

Nordstrom Rack, Ella Moss Marlowe Velvet Dress, $89
A little bit mod and a little bit flapper, a lot a bit perfect for holiday.

So you see velvet is decadent in all the best ways, and it's perfect for this month of parties and holiday gatherings.

Orange You Glad

Fun fact: I hate Halloween. It is a feeling instilled to me by my mother. I just hate spending money on an outfit you wear once. I'm not really a candy person, so overall, it's not my holiday. But today we're going to look at a way to mix in some orange and black in a non-Halloween way.

How about this stunning pleated color block skirt? It is so fall!

A beautiful bright orange. I love the solid waist and cuff, adds some definition to this busy sweater.

Modcloth, Foliage Tour Dress, $55
A vertical chevron, how unique. I'd add a skinny belt to this and call it a day. Maybe even the snake necklace from yesterday.

Nine West, Love Fury, $89
Candy corn chic, no? What a great platform.

Happy Halloween to all of you who enjoy candy, dressing up and running around in the cold. I will be drinking some red wine on my couch in  my sweats.

White Eyed

Happy Fourth of July lovebugs, I hope you had a happy holiday. Today I'm looking at white eyelet styles because nothing says summer more than a light white eyelet dress, skirt, or accessory.

Certainly not something you want to wear with mom and dad or gramma, but an evening picnic, or drinks on the pier? Yes.

How lovely is this top? A great pattern without any color needed.

Bloomingdale's, Aqua Skirt, $43
I like the thicker waistband on this skirt, and it's floating shape is perfect for any type of top.

Lands End Canvas, Eyelet 3" shorts, $35
Light, airy, perfect with some gingham!

White eyelet is a sure sign of summer for me. It means BBQs, frozen drinks and sweat proof makeup!

Fancy Sweats

Happy almost Friday lovebugs!

I'm feeling comfy today, but who wants to tell themselves they feel chic in sweats? Right. But what about a dressed up sweatshirt? Check out these fun and fancy sweats.

Bloomingdales, Velvet and Graham Sweatshirt, $28
The scoop neck is chic, the color is dark and the fit is a little retro.

Lands End Canvas, Slub funnel neck sweatshirt, $15
I'm all about the layering that the model is sporting. A little preppy with a sweatshirt!

This is on major sale right now, I love the detail, a little rock and roll.

The thicker stripe give this sweatshirt a rugby feel, and the color is so saturated. I love it.

Would you sport a sweatshirt out? And I'm not talking taking the trash out.

Buttoned Up

Happy Monday!

I could've used one more day this weekend, but here we are. Today we're going simple. Button down shirts. Mostly because they are a great staple for any wardrobe and Lands End Canvas is having an amazing sale until midnight.

People, Canvas is selling a whole mess of button downs today for $12. Striped, Floral, Gingham, you name it.  Go grab some.

Gap, the perfect oxford shirt, $49
Well apparently Gap thinks they've nailed it with this shirt. And with this price, it's worth a try!

Banana Republic, Soft wash fitted plaid shirt, $64
A little pattern never hurt anyone right? I'm liking this for running around on the weekend.

J Crew, Perfect Stretch Shirt, $69
A little stretch in a button down is always great for all day wear. This color is great for all four seasons.

So nothing too fancy with these shirts, no ruffles, pleats, etc. Just true fit, classic shape and something that will never go out of style.

Let's Go Boating

Hey there lovebugs,
How is your Thursday going? One more day until Friday! And to celebrate we're going boating. Well sort of, I thought we'd look at boat neck sweaters. Something a little different to your v-neck or crew routine.

I love this sweater, it looks super cozy yet can be dressed up for anything.

Loving this easy and casual shirt. I'd pair it with jeans or a skirt.

Lands End Canvas, Striped Sailor Tunic, $39
So perfect for the weekend. Pair it with a long necklace.

Modcloth, Snuggle Closer Top, $69
Ok promise you won't wear this top with leggings like this model, but otherwise enjoy the great shape of this sweater.

Boat neck is a fun mix in to your wardrobe this winter.  It's also great for layering.

Summer Nautical

Hi there lovebugs,
How was your weekend? I know some of my DC ladies took part in the fashion show brunch- so congrats to them!

Today I wanted to talk about summer nautical.  Not just stripes, but also canvas ropes, anchors and sperrys.

Modcloth, Style is style dress, $73
I'm obsessed with the vertical and horizontal stripes on this piece.  So much going on and yet so sleek

Urban Outfitters, Anchor bracelet, $9
Super cute for weekend

Sperry=preppy nautical.  You can't go wrong

Lands End Canvas, Nautical rope belt, $25
I would love this with a navy shift dress

Finding a striped dress is easy.  I think putting it together with the right accessories is the tough part.  Think light and breezy with colors and more structure when it comes to material.

Wicker Bags

Hey lovebugs!

Today I wanted to talk about a go to summer bag: wicker! It's light, airy, and perfect in a clutch form or a tote.  Here are some of my favorites.

Branching off from yesterday's tribal post- this is a great bag for a weekend evening out!

Lands End Canvas, Shoreline Straw Tote, $50
I'd use this for a day at the beach, or I would tie a silk scarf on the handle to dress it up!

What a fantastic unique shape! I love the tassel too.

Nordstrom, Tarnish straw tote, $65
Thank goodness for the Nordstrom sale! This metallic summer bag is amazing!

The straw, wicker, even raffia blend for bags just scream summer.  I think they can be dressed up with the right accessories or you can just let them be your perfect beach bag.

Staple Purchase: Trench

You guys,
I'm in the midst of a staple purchase.  What does that mean? It means I'm about to buy something that I will spend a little extra on because I will use it frequently and hopefully for years to come.  Much like the wallet post from yesterday.

Are you so excited to hear what I'm going to purchase? I know, I am too.  I am buying a Spring trench/rain coat/ bright color or patterned light jacket.  So many things this purchase needs to accomplish!  I've narrowed it down to a few choices.  Let me know what you think!

This is the front-runner right now. I like color, pattern, detachable hood and belt.

Nordstrom, Gallery Hooded Trench, $98
As I said before I do not want a khaki trench- this green is perfect!

How sassy is this? The ruffles are so cheery.

I love everything about this coat.  The lines are simple and clean, great length and that bow on the back.  Come on.  Love.

So what do you think? Did I miss any? When I'm doing a staple purchase I tend to mull over my options for at least a week before taking the plunge- so please, I'm open to suggestions!
