What a Stud!

Let's get a little rock and roll today. A little wild from my usual prep-classic style. I'm talking studs. nothing offensive, but edgy. A little unexpected. And I love these studded skirts because I can balance them with a feminine silk tie blouse or keep it sassy with a jean jacket.

Bloomingdale's, Studded Flare Skirt, $54 $47
I'm starting with my favorite. The vertical studding lengthens the legs and the flare does exactly what it's supposed to do.

A sassy pencil option that is in a sturdy ponte fabric.

Love this wrap with gunmetal studding. The back also features an exposed zipper.

Not so much for this trend? How about the quietest of options that still fits the bill.

The studded skirt is a fun way to inject some energy into your wardrobe. Whether you're a prep, rocker, or boho, anyone can pull off this trend.

Punchy Floral

Happy humpday lovebugs,
I hope your week is going well and that wherever you are reading this, your weather is stunning.

Speaking of weather, do you love flowers? I do. True story, The bf brings me fresh flowers almost every week. But there is a difference between loving flowers and wearing flowers. I don't love wearing florals; so when I do I mix them in with accessories.

I really love these pumps and the continuing of the print down the heel makes it unique.

This would be great over a navy cardigan and a sundress, I love the hardware, it gives this girly piece some edge.

Tropical, punchy, and perfect for bf jeans and a tank.

Guess, Dinigan Scarf, $68
I love this color blend. Just gorgeous for evening.

How do you style florals? I really like a punch floral, something not so sweet, a little tangy maybe.

Fancy Tee

So often when we think t-shirt we think a ratty, casual piece that isn't worth of much; but right now I'm loving silk tees. Last year it was embellished tees, but this year it's about the fabric. Check out these pieces.

Madewell, Picket Strip Tee, $89
Great rugby-like stripe on this tee. Dress it up with dark was skinny jeans and yellow heels.

Loving this bright yellow color and the zipper detail is just the right amount of rocker.

This is what I like to call blogger blue. A fantastic saturated color for any season.

Modcloth, Petal Pusher Top, $52
Well hello sweetness, aren't you just so delicate and divine?

Silk is so easy to throw on, add a bauble and walk out the door, it's light, colorful and so great for the warmer weather.

The Un-Preppy Bow

A bow is a great accessory to any outfit, today, let's look at bow tops that you can wear under a suit jacket or wear on the weekend.

Ok this would look gorgeous on anyone but please, I beg of you, wear a nude cami underneath, no one needs to see all of that.

Guess, Richelle Bow, $98
This great blush color would be beautiful with gray.

Modcloth, So it Seams Top, $65
Loving this mustard! And the vertical seaming is so different.

Banana Republic, Layered bow shell, $39
This is suit ready, add some translucent drop earrings and you're good to go.

You all know I'm a sucker for bows, but they don't always have to be preppy and girly, pair them with some dark denim or a suit for a new twist.

Tweed and Leather

Hey there lovebugs. I'm so sorry I missed you all yesterday. As you know I had surgery on my foot yesterday morning and I was in a sedated sleep for the rest of the day. Everything went very well and now it's just about getting rest and not walking, like at all. So I would like you to know that I hopped (yes jumped up and down on one foot) from my 5th floor apartment down to the 2nd floor free wifi library just to give you lovely lovely beauties a post. Dedication.

Don't forget to send me some recipes for tomorrow Friday Foodday, I couldn't do it with out you!

Today I'm going to talk about a trend that I really am warming up to: leather and tweed. Weird combo but in the appropriate setting I think it looks super chic.

Avenue, Tweed blazer, $50
OK minus these weird gloves she's wearing I really like the detailing on the hem

ShapeFX, control leather pants, $79
I love these pants. I feel like these legs just walked off of the runway!

ShapeFX, control tweed pants, $29!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not much for highwaisted pants because, well the pooch situation. But these pants come with built-in tummy, rear, and hip liner that slims, slims, and slims.

Leather Coats Etc, ladies fashion coat, $70
I'm loving the side zipper on this coat. If you're willing to spend a little more than TCB budget (<100)>

Two button, pocket detailing, heaven.

LOFT, Shiri OTK Boot, $109 (use code GOFORIT for an extra 30% off)
The elusive OTK boot. I like this one for its rounded tow and thicker heels making it more appropriate for daytime.
