Reader Request: Golden Age

Happy Monday lovebugs,
Today's post is a reader request for a great friend who needs a gold clutch for a wedding. This is a fun post for me because I feel that a gold clutch is great for special occasions but it also translates perfectly to everyday wear. Let's take a look.

Gatsby anyone? This clutch is its own piece of jewelry. Now picture it with black jeans and a silk tank.

A simple envelope clutch that you can throw a pair of fast flats in for the last hour on the dance floor.

I am truly smitten with this clutch. It is so sleek and the faux wood grain texture is really special.

Delia's, Gold Glitter Clutch, $24
Add some serious sparkle to your outfit. This clutch also offers a simple shoulder strap so you have your hands fee for Shout. Priorities people.

The gold clutch is a timeless piece to add to your closet. It's going to come in handy more than you know.

Fruit Salad

It's Monday. I am so sorry guys. I know, I know, I tried to talk to someone about it but came up empty. Speaking of empty, let's fill up on some fruit. Yes, fruit. Some punchy, flirty, fruit that will cheer up any Monday.

Half off, this simple yet adorable dress is a steal for work or play. Throw on a black blazer and patent leather belt for 9-5 and add some colorful heeled sandals for a night out.

Grapes, apples, pineapples and citrus, oh my!

How about this sweet slub sweater for a cooler summer night? With some white denim? Oh yes.

Hello citrus! How adorable would this be with a simple tee or a white eyelet blouse?

Cheer up lovebugs, it may be Monday but let's make it a sweet one.

Sweating Dots

Ok lovebugs, we're getting really specific today. We're taking my favorite print - the polka dot - and the most popular cozy item this season - the sweatshirt. Girly, flirty, comfy, and adorable. Let's have some fun!

Gap, Dot Sweatshirt, $26
This slight scoop neck sweatshirt is perfect for layering and the hi low hem is casual and unexpected.

Look closely, that's pink on pink ladies. That's right. Game changer. Add on a bauble and you've got one heck of an outfit- oh don't forget pants though.

Delia's, Zip Dots Sweatshirt, $29
Remember Delia's? Well they are still adorable. Check out this cropped sweatshirt with a great exposed zipper detail.

A comfy cotton blend that you can wear with jeans or maybe black cigarette pants. Or feeling brave? Try it with this merlot pencil skirt and a skinny belt.

I am loving the sweatshirt trend and I think with the right accessories you can dress it up for 9-5. And let's be honest, who doesn't love a sassy polka dot?

Eyeing Eyelet

It's the last few days of summer lovebugs.  I don't know about you, but one of the patterns that is synonymous with summer for me is eyelet.  There is something so feminine and sweet about this pattern.  Let's see what we can find on sale before the warm weather leaves.

Oh hi there transition shirt from summer to fall!  I love the eyelet pattern on these ruffles!

Beautiful and classic.  This will never ever go out of style.

I'm a sucker for a thick strap because you can wear a comfortable bra. And this square neckline is fabulous.

Yum.  Pair this with a dress, short, jeans, anything!

I know eyelet is very summer, but some of these pieces are made to stretch out summer.

Colored Lace

Happy Monday kids!

How was your weekend? I'm on vacay in Nashville today and tomorrow enjoying some country music and friends!

Today I thought we should talk about colorful lace.  Not your traditional white.

Urban Outfitters, Pins and Needles Lace Dress, $79
I love this deep scoop neck, and the muted pink is so subtle.

Forever 21, Pleated Lace Skirt, $18
Mini, lace, red, hello summer!

While I wouldn't button this up all the way, but I'm loving this lace pattern!

I love this sweet little number.  Perfect with a tan or not.

What do you think?  Are you loving this colorful lace? Such an unexpected take on a perfectly feminine pattern and medium.

One Shoulder It!

Today is one dreary day in DC. Can I get an AMEN on that please? It's cold, it's kind of raining but not really and the sun has yet to make an appearance. Let's try to get out of this Monday funk by looking at some party dresses.

One trend that I'm warming up to is the one shoulder dress. Mostly seen on little black dresses, this style has translated across the spectrum from casual to black tie. It adds a bit of unexpected to a dress while still covering (well at least one) shoulder. Sometimes a little bit 'rocker' but it can also be made into sweet. Let's look at some options:

Bloomingdales, Aqua Draped Jersey Dress, $78
LOVE the tights with this and the navy is heavenly

Delia's, Alexis one-shoulder dress, $44.50
loving the effortlessness of this one

Macy's, Temped Dress, $38
Casual AND colorful...not to mention the price!

I could not be more in love with this dress.
