Holiday Hat

Headed on vacation this Fourth of July weekend? If so, you're going to need a fantastic straw floppy hat. I've got you covered. These casual to fancy toppers will keep you cool and go with any outfit.

The brim has great shape to it and the simple flower tassels are just enough detail.

Something a little more bohemian that is perfect for the sand.

Ted Baker, Two Tone Straw Hat, $47
Something a little more fancy? This beauty will work.

Express, Pom Straw Hat, $34
You know I love a pom pom. This hat is tropical and so much fun.

Whether you are headed to the beach, the lake, or a festival, these hats will look stylish and be functional. Oh and they're also all under $50.

Proper Pleats

Some people despise shopping for work, I love it. I think it's like playing dress up. Corporate barbie, casual cool, or fashion forward. I especially love trying something out of the box that shouldn't work but it does; like pattern mixing, culottes, or pleats! Today let's look at some super chic pleated pants that will turn heads for all of the right reasons at the office.

Command the room in these sleek pants. Picture it with a silk blouse.

Nordstrom, Topshop Peg Leg Trouser, $48
I'd mix these casual pants with heels and a neck scarf.

Brooks Brothers, Wool Drawstring Pants, $148 $44
Tell me where else you find a wool trouser for under fifty bucks. Gorgeous.

Banana Republic, Avery Fit Jacquard Pleated Pant, $98 $48
A great cropped pant that is fantastic for warmer weather and even through fall.

A pleated pant has such an old-school professionalism vibe that you can't help but feel a little Mad Men in them.

Wrapped in Warmth

It's real cold out there. I feel like winter just waltzed in here fashionably late and set up shop when we were doing just fine in our layers and hats. What can you do? I'll tell you what, wrap up. The wrap coat is chic and breezy and you can add you layers underneath, because if you're not sporting some long underwear right now, well, I feel sorry for you.

Last Call Neiman Marcus, Raison D'etre Cape Sleeve Wrap Trench Coat, $74
Starting with this beauty. The beautiful cape sleeves, the arched hem, everything about this coat is going to work for you.

Calvin Klein, Belted Wool Blend Wrap Coat, $99
This coat was originally $400. That's right. Go, buy, now.

How about a chic winter white option? I love the pop of the black belt it will your figure great definition.

Forever 21, Belted Wrap Coat, $37
This coat is a lightweight option but great for layering a chunk turtleneck underneath. It also makes for a great spring transition coat.

The wrap coat is very casual but effortless in a Olivia Pope sort of way. I love the large cape details or kimono sleeves, it offers some personality to outerwear.

That's So Faux

Let's talk affordable leather. Ok, maybe not real leather, but let's look at some real quality brands that are pumping out affordable faux-leather options. These options are easy to wear and easy on the budget. Today let's look at some faux-leather midi skirts.

The seaming on this skirt is perfection for any shape. It is flattering and ladylike and it's a classic.

Gotta love this smooth and silky look.

This perforated option isn't overly sexy because of the length.

And a great pleated option. Tuck in a sweater for a sassy hourglass look.

The faux leather midi option is a cost effective way to stay on trend. These options may be work appropriate depending on your office culture; if you're questioning, try it with a flat and crew neck top to test the waters.

Art Project

It's Monday. We're all angry. I know. Let's try to mask our hate and fake a little culture. Today we're going to look at some art inspired pieces. That's right, we can appear smart and sophisticated if we want to. And today, we're feeling cultured.

Modcloth, Alyssum Abstract Dress, $44 (!!)
I love this dress because the pattern is cut to create an effortless hourglass shape. And it's under 50 bucks.

A beautiful skirt that gives the illusion of pleats without the hassle of steaming them in. I really like the red marker like pattern.

A very modern print with a casual chest pocket and hemline details.

Shoptiques, Abstract Silk Blouse, $49
A gorgeous color combination with a sexy boatneck that is perfect for a night out.

An abstract, mod, watercolor inspired print is a great way to infuse some culture into your closet. Not everything is polka dots and stripes. Branch out ladies.

Chunkster

It's freezing on the east coast. Like wear tights under your pants and then add the wool socks cold. When you walk outside it feels like you just got slapped across the face. You know what you need when it is this cold? Chunky knits. Lots of them. All of them. Get cozy.

Wallis, Cream Chunky Jumper, $49
A cozy cream will go perfectly with coated denim or a structured legging. I also love the big cowl neck.

A great pattern that has a lot of movement for those days when you want to do absolutely nothing.

Need Supply, Cowl Neck Sweater, $68
Oversized, drapey, thick and relaxed. Add some mulled wine and call it a night.

Dorothy Perkins, Blush Embellished Sweater, $21
A lovely knit with just the right amount of detail right by the face. No necklace needed.

When the temperature drops, its all about the chunky knit. Layer on an infinity scarf and find some comfy slippers

Flat Footed

Shoes! The all important shoes for long meeting days. Let's discuss. I envy women who can walk around in these all day, but I'm totally ok with never being that woman. Until then, these are my go to.

Nordstrom, Steve Madden Envd Flat, $98
In my opinion these are worth every penny. Detail, color and texture will save your feet after a long day. Also comes in black, red, or plum.

This is a great day or evening shoe. Picture it with a navy suit or a LBD.

A short little heel with a big print. Just great for a long day of meetings or a conference.

Macy's, Calvin Klein Nicki, $99
If you looked up standard heel in the dictionary, this image would appear. Every women needs one of these in her closet.

For my trip this week I will be enjoying 14 hour days of standing/running, so these shoes would be just perfect for me.

Pretty Python

One fall trend that is easy to fall in love with is python. It's great to wear now and in the winter. There are many color variations with this print, you can find blue, maroon, and others. For me, I prefer to keep it standard.

Snakeskin pumps are an easy go to. These wedges? These are fierce.

This is a gorgeous longsleeve tee. You could wear it with jeans and a moto jacket or wear it under a suit.

This is one rocker pinky ring. Simple, bold and chic.

Calvin Klein, Combo Placket Blouse, $48
Not wanting an all over python? This blouse give a great option for hints of print.

Python is certainly a departure from my usual polka dots and glitter but add some diversity to your closet. Mix things up!

Maximum Sleeves

We all know and love maxis, they're comfy, versatile and they've been a huge trend this summer. So how do we fall-ify them? Simple, just change the material to something a little heavier and add some sleeves. Let your accessories do the rest.

A peek a boo leg slit is the perfect surprise to this simple sweater dress.

Old Navy, Belted Jersey Maxi, $25
The dolman sleeves dress up this otherwise simple dress. There is so much you can do to accessorize: jewelry, denim jacket, switch out the belt, the list goes on.

This scoop neck is a great contrast to the horizontal stripes. I'm liking the braided belt as well.

Nordstrom, Ruched Maxi Dress, $88
A beautiful emerald color makes this dress look like a tall drink of water.

Maxis aren't going anywhere with the weather changing, change up the layers and the accessories and you keep the look.

Not So Short Stack

Have you entered the giveaway yet? Go get to it!!! $75 to Nordstrom is no joke!

Ok, back to business. In the past we've looked at stacked heels, they're a great option for a more comfortable heel. Today let's look at some stacked heel sandals. These are great for summer and a good reason to treat yourself to a pedicure.

Anthropologie, Brooke T-Strap Heel, $49
These two toned, t-strap beauties are half off and also come in black and silver.

Calvin Klein, Verla Mid Heel Sandal, $89
Boom. Colorblock. Didn't think I'd throw that in there, did ya?

Vince Camuto, Novasi, $79
Watch these bad boys to see if the price drops with the Anniversary Sale.

Tommy Hilfiger, Feather City Sandals, $64
I'm LOVING this nautical take on a stacked heel. These are fabulous.

Wedges and flats, those are standard options for summer sandals. I really like mixing in some stacked heels for a different look.

So Tab Your Asked

I love a blouse that can go from pencil skirt to skinny jeans with ease. I'm finding this type of top in the tab sleeve variety. There is a certain casual cool with this top that makes it easy and versatile.

Lord and Taylor, Liberty Silk Rolled Sleeve Top, $71
Just a stunning hue of blue. This will go with just about anything you want to pair with it.

The details on this blouse are very well thought out. Great Mandarin collar, shoulder epaulets, and a shirttail hem line.

This is a great upgrade to a plain white shirt, but it's simple and easy to layer.

I love the continuation of the stripes on the sleeves, give a much broader shoulder.

What do you wear that pairs for day or night? These simple but interesting blouses make it so easy to add one accessory or shoe for a completely different look.

Sweater Leather

Leather can be scary. But why not soften it by wearing leather with something softer? Like pairing leather with a sweater. Leather trim to be exact.

This slouchy sweater is dressed up with a great neckline that gives some edge to something comfy.

A fabulous 3/4 length sweater from lambswool. A great chevron print with leather trim!

It's hard to see here, but the sleeves have a great leather argyle pattern.

Warm, chic and a touch of leather around the neck!

This is my kind of leather. Very subtle. What are you thinking? Big and bold or trimmed and tiny?
